I chose the Above Tide Motel due to it's closeness to the hospital and it's inexpensiveness. I knew the property was a budget friendly one, and the room did seem old. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean the room was and by how well appointed it was. I had everything I needed for a 2 night stay. Microwave, keurig, fridge, wifi, and lots of lighting in all the right places. I was on the ground floor with a queen sized bed. A small room, perfect for one person. But the best part was the little grassy area right out my front door - 2 lounge chairs directly overlooking the ocean. I watched plenty of ships pass by and heard sea lions barking at night. I really enjoyed my stay!

The bathroom was very very tiny. OK for one person though.

We booked a two queen room with kitchenette and it was perfect for what we needed! The view from the balcony is gorgeous and we loved sitting out and watching the sunset- the view from the bed in the main room while hanging out can't be beat. It was convenient for getting around and easy to find as well. The front desk staff are so friendly! The two queen room has one queen in a bedroom and then one in the "living room" area separated by a partial wall from the kitchen.

The room ran hot - we are here in very early summer season (temps were 50-60F/10-15C during the day and down to 40F/5C at night so we figured the building heat is still on spring settings).

The above tide motel was the perfect place to stay. If you’re looking for great value for money, friendly welcome, cleanliness and an unbeatable view then you’ll love it. Walking distance to restaurants, shops and bear / whale tour companies too. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony and kitchen which really made a difference enjoying evenings in with the ocean view (definitely worth booking if you can). Thank you to the owner and this motel for being a memorable part of our honeymoon exploring Canada!

Great location. Close to everything. The ocean side is lovely, it doesn’t seem like you are in the midst of a town. So quiet and beautiful. Outdoor tables and chairs set up along the fence so you can enjoy the ocean in both sun and shade.

Really my only complaint is that I really, really prefer cotton or cotton blend sheets. The microfibre sheets are terrible, in my opinion. Slippery and they don’t breathe when you are sleeping. Also a bit more of a quilt or duvet would be nice. But… I still loved staying there and actually did have a good sleep!

Room was a bit dark, could hear people moving around upstairs. Bed creaked everytime you moved.

We stay here annually and always enjoy our stay. This year it seemed like the rooms had an upgrade which was lovely! The second bed is no longer a fold out couch but a full on queen bed - extremely comfortable too. It’s always kept clean, service is great, and there is AC!! The AC is loud though so if you have trouble sleeping with noise it may be an issue, but for us it is PERFECT! The ability to cook our own meals was awesome and eating with that view is breathtaking. Looking forward to next year already!

People are responsible for washing their own dishes so sometimes the dishes are not necessarily up to type A standards.

The view was excellent, the room was a good size and clean on the ground floor over looking the water towards Quadra island

Was disturbed on occasions by people dragging suitcases and furniture over the floor in the room above, maybe a sign in these rooms to inform guests to be aware of the lower level and to be somewhat thoughtful to other guests, especially at 07:30 When checking out.

I liked that the room was on the top level of the motel and had a great view of the ocean. The room was clean, spacious, and quiet. I loved that there was no carpet in the room as some of the other 'older' hotels / motels in the area do. It was nice to have a small fridge and assorted coffees in the room. Everyone that we met was friendly and it was great value!

Nothing - everything exceeded our expectations

A budget motel with the most surreal view of the river. Rooms were equipped with a basic kitchenette including fridge, microwave and coffee machine. Bathroom included various toiletries and a hairdryer. Each room has access to an outdoor patio/garden area overlooking the river. It’s incredibly beautiful!

Parking can be tricky when busy if you have a very large vehicle, but if you speak to the owner, there are alternatives.

Nice hotel, great view from the deck. Clean, quiet rooms with comfortable beds. The staff was accommodating when we asked for extra towels. Good sized fridge. Everything that was advertised was provided. They have laundry facilities on site for guests to use.

Parking stalls were awkward to get into and out of, but there were enough for all of the rooms.
