This is a very old, actually historic motel, and as such has its quirks. But it also has loads of character. It also has themed rooms based around different stars, who may have even stayed there. This trip I stayed in the Marilyn Monroe room, I've also stayed in the James Dean and John Wayne rooms. It's no Holiday Inn express or Marriot, it's a classic old motel, just like you might have stayed in when driving Route 66 60 years ago (except with AC!)

The owners are trying hard, but it IS old. The most annoying things I found were a lack of counter space in the bathroom, just a small shelf mounted over the sink, and no place to hang a towel in the shower.

We loved staying in a unique and locally owned motel. There was plenty of space for the four of us. The motel is a type of retro-kitschy vibe that people will either appreciate or view as dated. We appreciated it! The owners are engaging and eager to help anyway they can.

We have experience with older buildings, but we did find the shower a challenge. The room we were in, it was a dark space, and the plumbing was...quirky. But nothing we weren't able to work around.

I chose this particular motel because my husband is a bit of a Route 66 buff, and it reminded me of some of the motels my family stayed in as we traveled. But we will refer El Travatore Motel for the following reasons: Sam, the owner, greeted us with a smile and shared the history of Kingman. You're going to want to hear it! The property brought back memories from my childhood and family trips. The motel may be "old," but it's well maintained and clean. The bed was comfortable. The ac kept the room cool. There is a TV that plays black and white movies and shows when you turn it on. And yes, there is a small fridge and microwave The decor fixtures throughout the room, a small porcelain corner sink, a shower with the 2 handle controls on one end of the shower, and the shower head on the other. The bathtub wasn't usable and covered up, but it was nice to see. Each room has its own theme. Our room was the James Dean room. The building has a mural (the worlds longest map) of Route 66. Location was just out of "Old Town" Kingman. Absolutely loved staying here. We were on our way to an event, and my husband told everyone about this gem of a motel.

I loved this retro quirky motel! There’s loads of cool murals painted all around including the worlds longest route 66 map & I took loads of photos The room looked recently refurbished with new furniture, the bed was really comfortable & there was a very large flat screen tv

The only thing I wasn’t keen on was that in our particular room the shower is in a cut out in the wall rather than over the bath & it made it feel very dark. I don’t know if this is the same in other rooms

Very friendly and informative proprietor and a place with character. A good location, comfortable bed, and hot water for a shower. We were in the Marilyn Monroe room, which had interesting pictures and was nicely decorated. very good, and we would return.

Wi-fi was not reliable. While door is secure, it does not fit the doorframe tightly.

We stayed 1 night and booked the place for the "typical/historic route 66 experience". We wanted something different than the ordinary motels. It was absolutely worth it, super cool place, with a lot of decoration. We stayed in the "Marylin Monroe" room. The lady at the checkin was super friendly and seemed very excited about the place and telling us everything about it and what we could do in Kingman. So we felt very welcome. Of course the interior of the room was a bit "older", but that was expected. If we had wanted a modern room, we could have booked a normal/boring hotel next door.

Nothing to complain

Sam and his wife are the nicest persons. They were very kind to make me feel at home not only in the motel, but also around town. Room was cozy and clean. The bed was comfortable and warm, and the shower was great for a very cold November night. The location is perfect within a couple minutes drive to groceries, gas stations, and walk-in distance to restaurants.

Although property was old it was clean bathroom and shower were good but a bit tight getting into the toilet, the bed was dressed beautifully and the floor was exceptionally clean, the owner was so knowledgeable about the town and told us lots of things we didn’t know, there was a closet and an extra wardrobe which was not really necessary.

Maybe a sliding door to the bathroom for space saving.

The history that is associated with this old original motel. We had the James Dean room Room and stay were as expected per former reviews.. Owner Sam gave us the history...

Great for a funky one night stay along Rt 66.. But although it was probably clean...we didnt use the old dark shower ( bed was comfortable)

Historic motel in Kingman on route 66 with parking in front of the room, nice and very kind owner who at the time of check in explains the whole history of the motel and the characters who stayed in it and then gives some suggestions where to have breakfast and dinner and what to see in the city, very cozy room with furnishings themed by Hollywood characters, we had the Marilyn Monroe room.

The cost is a bit high for what it offers, a bathroom dating back to the 60s without any comfort.
