Short stay but enjoyed every minute. The staff in the restaurant couldn't have been friendlier or attentive, they even managed to get my shy daughter to talk to them. The location doesn't seem as central as it actually is, Cathedral is 10 minutes walk through The Cloisters shopping arcade and market square, Oliver Cromwell's House and Museum are within 5 minutes of the Cathedral. Sadly, poor weather prevented us from exploring further. The hotel also has an agreement with the gym next door for free passes during your stay and even offered to look after my 12 year old for an hour or so if I wanted to pop along. I hadn't realised that before travelling so didn't have any appropriate clothing for that (although there is a Sports Direct within The Cloisters, so I could have bought some). The meals are wonderful, large servings and good quality ingredients and not too pricy.

We were in room 1 which is at the top of the stairs, so you can clearly hear everyone coming and going, though there didn't seem to be any exceptionally late returns or early leavers.

Got a free parking space, right outside the pub, in the middle of Ely. A simple pub menu from which we ate twice. Hot and tasty food served quickly with good portion sizes. Our slight adjustments for "chip" alternatives were accommodated without an issue. Sunday carvery was hot with the addition of cooked red cabbage and roasted vegetables. All the staff were friendly and served with a smile. Huge TV (!!), spotlessly clean rooms which were accessible after hours via a code. A big shower, plenty of storage and the usual facilities coffee/tea etc. 10/10. Good value for money, we'd stay again if visiting Ely.

The High Flyer is in an ideal location, about 100yds from the centre of Ely, and has ample free parking. The rooms are a little small, but are perfectly comfortable although they do become warm on sunny days. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the service is good. The food choice is really good too, but make sure you are hungry because the portions are well above average! If you try their homemade onion rings, I suggest you only have one portion between two because!

At times the bathroom did smell stale, slightly of drains. Like I said above, the rooms can become very warm on sunny days as the windows face southeast and catch the sun. The windows only open a small amount so you will need the supplied fan to try and move air around.

Well located, within an easy walk of shops, river etc. The Manager, Jan, & his team made us feel welcome throughout our stay. Breakfast both mornings, lunch on day 1 & evening meal on day 2 were all very good. Whilst the breakfast selection on the menu is quite limited, the Manager & chef catered for our individual requests which was great for us. (A minor issue with the eggs one morning was resolved very quickly). Our room & facilities were more than adequate for our needs. We especially liked the selection of individual bottles of toiletries available to use, in addition to the teas & coffee selection.

We felt that the bathrooms, in particular, could have been cleaner. All the basics were fine but the bottom of the shower frame in our room was a bit grubby. However, this did not impact on our stay & we didn’t feel he need to raise it at the time.

Was very easy to get to and close to the high street with restaurants/shops. The staff member who checked me in was helpful and kind, and the staff member who served me breakfast the next day was great too. The room had an extremely comfy bed and perfect shower. The hotel was very quiet and I was uninterrupted by any noise.

My only criticism is the keys to the room were a bit of a fiddle. Thought I had locked the door but it took a moment to make sure it was locked. Also, there wasn’t any bottled water in the room but that wasn’t a bother really as I had my own.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a small issue and the manager communicated this to us before we arrived and offered a few ways to solve it. In the end the problem was solved before we arrived. Really great customer service!! The room was comfortable and stocked with tea, coffee and biscuits. The location is great and the parking was very easy.

the stay itself at the high flyer was good , fab location, the place is lovely , great room , lovely decor, comfy bed, couldnt fault the property . the front staff were warm and welcoming .

we dined in the restaurant in the evening , we were sitting opposite the kitchen hatch , i watched the chef making my chicken burger after putting the mayo on , he licked the spoon , then put the guacamole on , he licked that spoon , really hope it was two separate spoons. he then put the fries in the container and started to eat a few of them . i wanted to say something at the time but we were staying there . For this reason i marked down on the High Flyer. shame cause i would have put 10/10 if it wasnt for the hungry chef ! the next morning we went and had breakfast in Ely just incase same chef was on .

The room was very modern, stylish, comfortable and clean, with an enormous TV! Staff were very good. There was no noise from downstairs or the street. Parking was free and very close to the hotel.

We didn't have breakfast as there was no option for a typical hotel breakfast choices such as cereal, toast etc, only a full English breakfast or a brunch type meal. There was a keypad lock on the door up to the rooms, but every time we came back to the hotel, this door had been left open.

I booked a room for my parents who were staying in Ely on holiday. They were generally happy with their room and overall facilities.

There was no cleaning or towels change done in the room. Mum had to ask one of the cleaners directly. To be fair, once she did, everything was cleaned right away.

Location was perfect for exploring Ely. The pub was lovely for a late Saturday afternoon drink and the food looked good, although we didn't eat there. Our room was nice with a comfy bed, decent shower and some complimentary shower gel/shampoo/soap along with tea/coffee/hot choc and biscuits, which was a nice touch. It was good value for money and we would return.
