The room was quite clean and nice! As soon as I checked in I just relaxed in the room until it was time for my reservation for the shared bath. The bath was clean and allowed me to relax for the night. The ryokan breakfast was also very tasty. Definitely worth the value. I love how we had options on when the breakfast would be served (7:30, 8:00, or 8:30) There’s a convenience store nearby with a great selection of snacks. This experience was overall amazing after being overstimulated from the crowds in Tokyo and Kyoto. I was able to walk around the area and it was so peaceful with barely anyone around. If you have big suitcases, I would highly recommend renting the coin lockers at the station and just bringing an overnight bag to Bingoya. If I stop by Kurashiki next trip, I would love to book Bingoya again.

Some slight inconvenience with the construction next door, but I kinda just tuned it out after an hour. Going here from Shin-Kurashiki was a bit of a trek if you didn’t rent a car. Buses were infrequent. Though, it wasn’t that bad. There’s a bus stop a few meters from Bingoya, and there’s one that’s 10-15 mins walk away. We ended up catching the bus that’s stops near Bingoya but had to wait over an hour near the train station.

This is my 3rd stay here and it’s wonderful every time. Yes, a futon is not always the most comfortable bedding and the pillows are interesting but the rooms are very spacious and beautiful in the traditional Japanese style, the setting is gorgeous, the staff are lovely and the bath is fabulous. Breakfast is a work of art. The cost is so reasonable compared to other traditional ryokan, it’s an excellent choice if you are visiting Okayama or Kurashiki.

The hospitality was outstanding. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us including making breakfast for us a lot earlier than is usually offered to enable us to catch our early train. Having our own Japanese house was a great experience. Our own toilet was important. Experiencing a traditional wooden bath was wonderful.

Softer pillows would be a great option for people not used to sleeping g on traditional Japanese pillows.

Bingoya is a wonderful traditional Ryokan and it was an amazing experience. Beautiful tatami mat rooms, shoji screens, sliding doors, hanging scroll alcoves, peaceful gardens with stone lanterns - perfect! Delicious breakfasts, which look gorgeous too. Lots of details in the buildings- inside and out, so it is lovely to contemplate your surroundings in one of a hundred different spots.

There was nothing to dislike. I extended my stay.

Lovely property and excellent hospitality. Very polite and welcoming and only too happy to please. They also recommended an amazing place to dine which provided another fabulous experience.

It’s a little out of the way but not hard to get to. Very peaceful and quiet.

The facilities and accomodation were super relaxing and comfortable. The staff were amazing and super helpful when ordering taxis or getting us to and from the station. All around an amazing place to stay.

The beds were a little hard.

Very traditional ryokan, in the same family since 1914. Classic architecture and small gardens, nice ofuro and great food. We had a sweet little room on the hillside accessed by steep stairs. Lovely family staff.

The location! We had trouble finding it with our GPS, as it was not in the part of town we thought it was; about a 20 minute cab ride from the historic center.

Property was beautiful, very clean and we were given the utmost privacy during our stay. The staff were also very considerate, helpful and respectful. They go beyond with their service - they even chased us to Kurashiki Sta to bring the charger we left behind in the room. Superb service and the breakfast was amazing!

Traditional ryokan with superb food, private onsen, and it is quiet at night. Best sleep of our trip. Hope to return one day. One night was not enough in this area.

Wonderful rooms, lovely staff and amazing food.

Not super close to Kurashiki cultural district (although not a big deal).
