Superb team and beautiful Wellness Suite Loved this hotel. Extremely helpful team across the whole stay. Compact but beautifully & quirkily decorated room and also in all areas of the hotel. The whole establishment is a delightful homage to King Ludwig and his favourite Composer Richard Wagner with so many photos, art pieces and memorabilia dotted around. Everything feels like it’s all been thoughtfully done for the interest and delight of the guests. The highlight of our stay was the wellness suite. After a chilly visit to the beautiful castle nearby, to be able to arrive back at the hotel and change into our soft & snuggly bathrobes and pop to the wellness suite was divine. I enjoyed the steam room and both saunas before relaxing on a lounger listening to serene birdsong and zen like music! I actually dozed off which is a rarity for me. We spent a couple of hours in there, feeling totally relaxed and enjoying the free refreshments. The hotel’s Riwa restaurant is frequented by many Locals and has a busy, buzzy, friendly atmosphere. The food was typical and delicious, made and cooked fresh to order. My white Asparagus soup, a favourite of mine, was the best home made I have ever tasted. We were lucky it’s in season right now. The breakfast selection in the Riwa was superb and laid out beautifully. The only issue we had during our stay was simply that I could not turn the heat up on my room but once I asked the reception staff it was immediately corrected and switched onto ‘heat’ mode rather than cool. The area had just recently experienced high temps and sunshine which very quickly had switched to cold and snow (which was magical and made the area even prettier!). I would definitely recommend this hotel, and have no hesitation on re booking again. Thank you to the lovely Hotel Sonne Team

Everything was fabulous. Right in the town centre at the end of the Main Street. Secure car parking available at the hotel. The room was big, comfortable and clean with a large wet room shower. Our view was great from the balcony. The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast buffet had a fabulous selection. We didn’t use the restaurant in the evening but it was always busy so we assume it was good. Large souvenir shop at the hotel that was no more expensive than in the town. We were given a Füssen pass at the hotel that gave free travel on local bus services so we travelled to Neuchwanstein and Hohenshwangau castles free and easily without having to pay to park the car - the pass also gave small discounts on entrance fees.

My favorite hotel during the trip!! The front desk clerk is not only handsome but also very warm and friendly, which has touched us! It brought me a good mood for the whole day and recommended a very authentic and delicious local restaurant to us. It could be said to be the most delicious restaurant throughout the entire trip. The hotel is not large, but the decoration is very nice, warm and beautiful. The breakfast is also the best among all the trips! The location is also excellent. It's very convenient to walk anywhere in the small town. It's a very, very perfect hotel! I really love it so much

Not at all！

We loved the staff. Leon greeted us with a great smile and made us feel welcome. We had a long flight and had driven from MUC...so were very tired, but he checked us in and had us settled quickly. We stayed 2 nights here...10 other nights across Austria and Germany....the breakfast here was the absolute best breakfast we had on the whole trip. It went way beyond the typical German breakfast (cook to order omlets, french toast, yogurts, meats, juices, good coffee, etc.....and given the restaurant was always packed...it'd say others agreed that the food was excellent. The location was excellent, allowing us easy access to some good restaurants and attractions in Fussen...and very easy access to the castles.

I had rented a larger VW SUV....and the parking garage was typical....as in not big enough. Leon got me a good spot that was maneuverable in/out of....and I had no issues. They have only limited parking in an underground garage directly under the hotel with easy access. So bottom line...if you have a typical smaller car....no issues. I knew all this going in and not many places in Europe seem to have wonderful parking ;).

Excellent location, short walk from station, in the old town, fantastic breakfast. Very quiet rooms. Extremely clean. Our room was spacious and had a comfortable lounge. Air-conditioning that worked.

Open bathroom in a room that is designed to sleep 4 people. Heavy polyester quilt, too hot for summer, with a fitted sheet that was a strange knitted fabric that was pilled, so it was not very comfortable. Flat feather pillows (not a specific criticism of this hotel, this seems a Germany wide hotel issue) Rooms are decorated in dark colours, and the whole hotel aims for an eclectic, funky style at the expense of quality bedlinen.

We had the breakfast buffet the first morning on a whim, and because it was convenient and looked pretty good. We had it the second morning because - it was actually fantastic! We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant twice. Great ambiance, very cozy excellent food and selection and great service. The staff was over the top helpful and kind. We stayed for two nights but since the hotel was already very booked by the time I reserved the second night, we were set up to have to switch rooms in between. Upon checking in, the staff noticed this right away and adjusted our rooms. One of them even had a balcony and looked out onto the Fussen castle. We parked our VW Tayron in the Tiefgarage of the hotel and had no issues fitting, or getting it in and out! We ended up driving to the Schwangau castles since we were heading out at the end of the day - but the bus station was just down the street a little. Great location overall - very convenient to everything Fussen had to offer!!

The rain!

The Hotel is at the beginning of the old city shopping street ! As you arrive yo immediately see THE WELL SIGN POSTED Check in PARKING ! One reviewer apparently could not see the car park which I think is very clear and easy to find ! The reception staff were very friendly and gave us a warm welcome and gave us the underground parking pass . The hotel is very clean and has very nice decor ! The rooms are clean spacious and the beds are comfortable . The room was quiet we all slept well. The breakfast was extensive and the bread selection as usual in Germany was very very fresh. There is a live cooking station and the omelette was excellent. My regret was we only stayed one night . An excellent hotel in a beautiful Bavarian City .

Great location and facilities.

The hotel’s restaurant was terrible for having dinner. We had to wait more than an hour for the main course. And with two small kids who were very hungry it got really complicated really fast. The kids at the end were so tired that they almost didn’t eat. The waiter was rude and pretended like he didn’t see us when we tried to get his attention and inquire about our meals. He made us feel very unwelcomed. Since we have a longer car, they made us park in one of the two off site parkings, which were not so close to the hotel

Lovely hotel. Comfortable room & bed. Wonderful breakfast. Excellent location. Front desk personnel, breakfast room host and servers were fantastic. Hotel located right at start of füssgangerzone of city. Underground parking available upon reservation. Felt like our family dog was genuinely welcomed on site. :-)

Our evening server on first night visiting Riwa (outside terrace) was rude. When we arrived on the terrace, he asked us what we wanted (a menu, maybe?), and when we wanted to pay with a debit card and get a receipt afterwards, he acted offended and asked why we didn't trust him. Too much drama for an apfelstudel. Minor inconvenience, however. Other interactions at hotel and in restaurant were wonderful.

Good location, although situated on a round about so it was a bit noisy throughout the night. The decor is fun and opulent. The hotel offers so many little gems, and we returned to enjoy our evening in the outdoor bar space. It felt the place to 'be' in Fussen. You book into an experience, not just a hotel. The staff were outstanding, particularly at reception. A woman called Damariel was so helpful and made me feel so welcome. She went out of her way to assist with the parking. I'd recommend this hotel, and if I ever return to Fussen, I would love to stay here again.
