The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. I was very grateful to the waitress and the manager for allowing me to have breakfast at 7.20am, which was before the usual start time of 7.30am, so that I could catch my train on time. The food, both the breakfast and evening meal, was delicious. As for the room, it was small but cozy, with a comfortable bed and clean, ensuite bathroom. Finally, the location is excellent. Right in the heart (calon) of Carmarthen, amongst its lovely pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops. The train station is only a ten minutes' walk away.

There was no tea spoon or sugar on the desk next to the kettle, while the bedroom walls were paper thin. I could hear the TV of the room next door. Nevertheless, this was a pleasant stay in Wales's oldest town.

The breakfast on both mornings was served up warm, ⁷not hot. Sunday carvery wasn't very nice either, that was warm.i ordered a sausage sandwich for my breakfast and I left most of it. Sausage hot outside and cold inside. Think it was supposed to of been warmed through ? There was lady who did bar and kitchen and food who I found to be very nice to us. The rest of everything was ok ish. Overall I wouldn't have breakfast breakfast there again. The room was fine.

From the moment we arrived all of the staff were extremely attentive and very helpful. Everyone we met gave the outward appearance of being happy in their work and that nothing was too much. The breakfast was excellent - freshly cooked and again it was easy to ask for what you wanted. Our room was large and the bathroom was spotless and kept that way during the week. We had dinner in the hotel once during the week (eating out within the town the rest of the week) and the food was really lovely and there was a convivial atmosphere within the dining room. All in all an excellent place to stay.

The only thing that was slightly wrong was the window catch in our bedroom which was rusted and wobbly and this made opening and shutting the window difficult.

A hotel with real character. A step back into the 1970s, but in a good way. Full of nostalgia in the bar and restaurant, with quirky decor in the bar and restaurant, yet with updated ensuit rooms that were comfortable and well equipped. The staff were a credit to the establishment, with special mention to Thomos (the host with the most!), Cheryl (who took our beer and curry stained washing home!), and D (who looked after us with our night cap in the wee small hours) , all of whom who were attentive at all times and often went above and beyond to make sure we were happy guests. Well done to chef Gonzo, who drank with us in the Plume at night, then cooked our breakfast in the morning - fair play. The food in the restaurant was excellent - with a Sunday carvery to die for. All in all, what a great hotel, made special by an excellent staff - not forgetting the cleaners - a team to be proud of. We will definitely, definitely, definitely be back. We liked it all - no complaints whatsoever.

I had a great time at The Boars Head. The location is central to the town. The room was clean, tidy, warm and the bed was comfortable. The breakfasts are really good with a decent choice. I ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was amazing. I was served by a lovely lady called Natalie. She was so accommodating, friendly and pleasant. She made me feel comfortable as I am a solo traveller dining alone. She brings a great atmosphere to the restaurant. So thank you Natalie! I will definitely be returning. Thank you.

Great central location, obviously popular, as lots of customers are around. The staff were lovely, and food was good value and tasty. Bed was comfy, and the duvet almost felt weighted, which was great. Breakfast was also nice, not much continental options, coffee and juice were not great quality but the cooked options were good.

Smelt a little musty, but it is a listed building so expected. The room was nice but lacked some finishing touches, no eyeline mirror to get ready, no plugs at easy access, and something had clearly been taken off a bathroom wall as markers on the wall.

We loved the quirky character of the building. We loved the comfortable room that easily fitted 5 of us; 2 adults and 3 children (11,12,13). We explained that we had an event at Oakwood theme park about 30 minutes down the road and would miss breakfast and the staff brought us some continental breakfast; fruit, yoghurts, cereals and milk. Our check in was quite late due to the distance from home. The hotel phoned us to check we were okay, we were on route and estimated time of arrival. Staff were very friendly on arrival and wanted to help where they could. We had a laugh trying to drive into the car park which is through a very tight (1-2inch gap either side of the car wing mirrors)! 😂 This just added to our adventure!

Nothing. We didn’t spend much time there; arrived at 10pm and left at 7.30am, however, what we saw and experienced was great!

This was a one night stop off en route to somewhere else. The room was very nice, bed comfy and I had a decent nights sleep. There was a bit of noise at night from other guests, but nothing too bad. I had a quick lunch. The staff were very busy with their popular restaurant but managed to accommodate me. One area for improvement would be the seating area I was put in was like a waiting room for the restaurant and the patrons stared at me while waiting for their tables, which was uncomfortable. Breakfast was fantastic and my stay overall was very good value for money

We booked for one night as we had an appointment in the area the next day. The hotel is a traditional hotel with lots of original features. There is a bar area and also a separate restaurant for hotel guests which serves breakfast, lunches and dinners. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the room we had was clean and the bed very comfortable. We had dinner which was nice, a good choice on the menu for main courses and the full breakfast in the morning was substantial.

The room we were in was right at the top of the hotel, the stairs are very steep from the first to second floors and there is not lift so would not be able to accommodate those with a disability. Air conditioning in the rooms could improve them. The rooms look out onto the high street which was a little noisy but it was warm and we had to have the windows open to let some air in.

The room was very comfortable, the bed was the most comfortable ever! It was warm enough and very clean. I loved the building, so much history. The shower items were good, saving me from having to unpack and repack on arrival (I was travelling onwards the following day). The tea facilities in the room were much appreciated.

Breakfast wasn't particularly tasty; neither the bacon nor the sausages tasted of anything. But the scrambled eggs, beans etc were fine. It was odd as I expected welsh pork to be epic but maybe it's just not. But it was free and there was a choice of omelette/ cereals etc
