The room was welcoming but not huge, adequate though and fine for me, it was very clean and had just been redecorated. The only let down was that the curtains looked tired and were faded on the edge. One curtain was very difficult to draw across. The bed was very comfortable having a memory foam mattress and the bedding was wonderfully white, soft, very clean and fresh. The ensuite bathroom was very smart in navy and white and very clean with a great modern shower. Although a Full English Breakfast was not available however I was offered good alternatives, and could have other extras afterwards - so very enjoyable, a real treat! My two night stay was altogether very pleasant so would consider rebooking another time.
The car park in front of the house was very handy but a bit dreary and to be honest a bit off putting as there was a sad filthy obviously abandoned sports car sitting there, and as you approached the front door a large flower tub not full of flowers but old cigarette butts greeted you! So the whole approach sadly had little curb appeal which made me wonder what the inside would look like, however I was relieved that upon entering the house the reception area was bright, clean and welcoming and the host was pleasant and very helpful even carrying my bag up to my room for which I was very thankful as it was upstairs.

Room service for breakfast really suited me - I like a quiet start to the day! Staff were super helpful and friendly, carrying my bag to my room. Water for the shower was really hot, and the room and bed were comfortable. The Location, with free parking, was excellent - less than 5 mins downhill to the coast, and even less time to the bustling Hill Road shops.
Nothing in particular - the outside appearance of the property is a little tired, but once through the door the friendly family team who are the owners give a really good warm welcome.

Great welcome very friendly! Exceptional customer service. Room was spotless and very clean! And catered to all 5 of us with the towels bedding and toiletries etc.. not like other bed and breakfasts & hotels where it’s just normally 2 towels even tho you have put down 5 guests! And have to ask for extra! He covered all information we needed and Was told different locations to eat or visit and a bit of history about the place and area too. 100% will be visiting again.

The room was very spacious and comfortable. It was also very quirky with the way the ensuite had been put into the room. Having the recling 2 seater settee was a bonus. They allowed my husband to store his bike at the back of the house.
The only thing we didn't like was the late check in time. It was supposed to be from 3pm but the room wasn't going to be ready till 4 which meant I had to find somewhere to go. They were really helpful in that they let my husband in before I returned which enabled him to get showered off after a long day cycling.

Excellent location and very quiet Free off road parking Very clean Lovely friendly hosts Excellent continental breakfast selected beforehand and brought to your room at an appointed time A short walk to the sea front and Hill Road’s restaurants and shops Comfortable beds Tea/ coffee making facilities Extra communal bathroom with great shower
Nothing to actively dislike but en suite was a bit dated and general decoration a bit tired - but such fantastic value and these negatives didn’t impact on our appreciation and enjoyment of this lovely place to stay

Very nice and spacious room. Off road parking. Excellent host.
Shower room and toilet in the room. Wooden addition in the centre of the room, but I could understand the reason for them in order to have a private shower room and toilet. Nice reclining sofa but leather not nice to sit on. Used towels. There was a funky odour in the room almost like pets had been in their previously.

Good location for beach and pier. Good parking. Good continental breakfast served to your room with fruit, yoghurt , cereal, toast, croissant et cetera. Friendly hosts. We had a large family room with a double bed single bed and bunks came for the same price as a double room. Window overlooking rather overgrown but quiet garden at the back.
The only downside is that this establishment is in desperate need of a very large dose of TLC.

This is the third time I’ve been to Cavell house and if I needed to go to the south west again I would be staying there. Consistently accommodating from an early breakfast to small touches and more, which shows how helpful the staff are and how they are as hosts.

The owners David and Abby were very helpful. The room was spacious and quiet with a comfortable bed and good sized seating area with sofa. Breakfast was served in the room with plenty of choice.
The car park was a bit of a tight squeeze.

Lovely welcome from David the owner, he told a lovely story about how the house was named after a nurse who opened an orphanage there last century, her photo is on the wall. It was like staying with family and we had a wonderful continental breakfast brought up to our room in the morning. The beds were super comfy and it was really quiet and relaxing watching TV in bed. The rooms a bit dated but super value for money
