The room was bright and clean, lovely crisp bedding. Tea and coffee provided along with a hairdryer and small iron and ironing board. The bathroom was also well lit, plenty of towels and loo roll, and mini toiletries provided. We didn’t have the opportunity to try an evening meal as the restaurant closes on a Sunday and Monday (understandable in the current climate), but the restaurant surroundings looked comfortable and well decorated and staged. It has made us want to return and try their food.
The bathroom towel rail was very hot and burned if you touched it - unfortunately you couldn’t turn it down or off, so we covered it with towels to protect us from touching it accidentally.

Excellent location, a 5 min walk from Penarth station with regular train service to Cardiff taking approx 12 mins. It is a large late Victorian property with many original features including a stunning Minton tiled floor in the entrance hall. I was met by the owner on my arrival who was very friendly and helpful. By the side of the hotel is a pathway that leads to the seafront through a wooded area. A walk along the pier and front I would recommend !
The shower curtain around the bath ...but everything else was excellent and great value for money !

Very friendly and accommodating staff, nothing was too much trouble. Comfortable memory foam mattress, room was quiet, pizza and breakfast were excellent (extra charge) great Vegetarian options. Lovely traditional decor in rooms with origional features.
Minimal power from the shower and no plug in the sink, although I'm sure they would have rushed to get us one if we'd asked. The en suite was a little tired compared to other areas but was perfectly functional.

The room was a good size and very clean. The location was perfect for us in the centre of Penarth and close to the station. The bar and restaurant were also very good. Tasty Italian food at a reasonable price and the cooked breakfast was excellent. The hotel owners and staff were also very helpful at all times.
The bathroom was a very good size compared to most but it took ages to get any hot water in the shower. The bed was very comfortable but an extra large bed would have been lovely.

Excellent location for walking to the sea front. Lovely period room very clean and warm. We were offered Breakfast which sounded very nice but as it was a set English breakfast it was fine for me but not for my wife as she likes a continental breakfast.
Breakfast was set full English fine for me but not my wife who likes a continental breakfast so we had to find another place for breakfast.

The rooms were lovely. Beds comfortable and everything was clean
The breakfast, sorry. Bacon wasn't crispy at all, and the beans were disgusting 😔. It was like raw colour (bacon). The only other thing was we were not asked if we wanted brown or white bread for toast. So we had brown, which I would never have chosen. I dont think it was worth £12.50 each.

Room was delightfully decorated . Clean and tidy. Ensuite was excellent. Staff and owner were accommodating and very friendly always happy and joking . Breakfast was excellent value and very tasty. Location is perfect for me. Family business vibe.
Futon bed was most uncomfortable . Headboard on double bed was not fixed to the bed or wall and bashed against the wall every time I moved waking me up. Was expensive compared to other hotels however happy to pay for location, was most convenient .

Very close to train stations and bus stops that take you into Cardiff within 20 mins. Very clean and staff were lively. The restaurant downstairs was great too.
This isn't a big deal but the room I got had a bathroom not attached to the room which was unexpected. It was fine but just a little inconvenient.

Great stay here stayed for a golf tournament. Considering where it was in town no issue with noise. Food was Italian style cooked fantastic and catered for my dietary requirements. Staff were great always checking if everything was ok and too standard. Will 100% recommend and hopefully be back in the future.

This hotel is a classic Victorian building, which currently has an Italian restaurant on the ground floor. Our room (7) was large and spacious, if a little "faded" and with rather old-fashioned furniture - but I was assured the hotel is currently gradually being refurbished. The double bed had a very comfortable mattress, but for us was a little small - we really have to book king-size at minimum, especially when the weather is hot. Again, we were told that there will be king-sized beds following refurbishment, and to ask for one next time. Breakfast - and additional £10 each - was delicious and cooked to order. The location is excellent for Penarth Railway Station, and a short walk downhill along the path beside the hotel to get to the pier.
Given the ample size of our room, the bathroom was very cramped. Everything worked OK, but there was very little wriggle room. Note also that there is no designated parking. This isn't a criticism as such, more for information There's a 2 hour space directly outside, but you have to park a little bit up the road if you want to leave your car any length of time during the day.
