Loved the historic standing of the building! Each room is different with funky fun wall paper and furnishings. Interesting, not your run of the mill standard cookie cutter hotel...but with tons of charm and charming young staff. Thank you Ethan, Jamie Emily and Shannon...you made the stay wonderful. Great ambassadors for Cardiff and the Exchange hotel.

Building is a bit creeky and old in certain areas - also location is a far walk 25-30 minutes to main heart of Cardiff City.

The room for three people was very spacious. And the bathroom has a lovely bath/spa with a rainfall style shower. The TV was smart Samsung TV which you could connect a phone to and watch what you'd like, no need to log into your Netflix on a hotel TV.

The TV placement was okay but due to the size of the room the TV could do with being bigger in order for all guests to view. And just some hooks in the bathroom for the towels as there was only the rack. The windows were large but only the bathroom window opened and the A/C didn't seem to work well at all. Luckily the weather was lovely but hard to cool down after a day in the sun.

Staff were friendly and accommodating, room was large and hotel is conveniently situated. Breakfast room was gorgeous and the food was delicious!!.

Room was tired looking ie..wall paper was loose on the wall, base of the bed was mismatched and it stood out like a sore thumb.,new carpet had tea stains on it ,TV was so high up the wall that we weren't able to look at it .lovely jacuzzi bath but unfortunately it had scum in it ....no bin in bathroom and no toilet brush .Ornate wardrobe, but unfortunately the carvings were white with dust..A little effort and this room could have been so much better

Love the way they have emalgamated the old historical with new contemporary in the rooms with furniture and deco. Rooms are large and first hotel I've stayed at that provided water along with teas and coffee in room. Beds huge and comfy. The hotel staff were amazing and a credit to hotel. Breakfast great selection layer out to help yourself full english and continental choice.

Features of the rooms are the jacuzzi baths. Had an issue with the one in our room the plumbing had not been set to the right pressure so the jets were so ferocious they shot water everywhere. This will create a lot of water damage and expense for the hotel left as is. We spoke with reception lady who moved us to another room and was so apologetic and helpful but jets in new room were of similar strength so potentially in all suites. Suggestion would be they get all rooms checked as their plumber may have set them up wrongly, have them adjusted appropriately to ensure future guests can recieve benefits of a feature that hopefully will continue to entice guests as this kind of historical building needs to be kept.

Incredible building, with unusual rooms. The restaurant was nice, and the food very good, especially the burger. Location was also good, although parking is tricky, I had done my homework and just found an off road space 10 mins away.

The lead on the kettle was so short that you could only use it on the floor, or the bedside table, which was not ideal. The drinks menu was epic, but none of the sherries were available. The delay in establishing this meant that my pre-dinner drink just didn't happen, and my wife drank her cocktail through the meal rather than as an aperitif. The problem was the waiter trying to locate the drinks on the computer system. Maybe drinks should be ordered the old fashioned way, and entered in the "system" after.

Grand old hotel close to Cardiff Bay. Atmospheric, with a lovely dining area. Good value for money if you can get a deal, tie in breakfast, and overlook (or accept),the quirks associated with a hotel of this age and style. Breakfast is very good. Staff are polite and helpful.

Not for you if you want air-con, multichannel tv, plenty of plug sockets and everything to work perfectly (we had to change rooms when we couldn't work out how to adjust the shower temperature or turn it off!). No guarantee of nearby parking and no space, apparently, in the pre-bookable Q-Park. We ended up parking privately, about half a mile from the hotel.

The hotel was located very close to Cardiff Bay. We had a large room on the ground floor. It was clean and tidy with coffee and tea in the room. The staff at reception were excellent, and we received a warm welcome.

The hotel was located about a 20-minute walk from Cardiff Central station. During this walk, we didn't feel very comfortable about the area surrounding the hotel and especially as I was alone with a small child. The bay area was nice and lively with lots going on, but the hotel was on a quieter street. We didn't like the door adjoining the next room, although it was locked, we didn't feel comfortable with it. The room was hot, but the hotel provided a fan, which provided relief. This hotel was great for one night but I would prefer a more central location.

The jacuzzi bath and the big comfy bed. Breakfast was excellent with a wide selection (pastries, yoghurt, fruits, jams, breads, cereals, juices, hot breakfast, tea, coffee) and was plentiful aswell. Really fantastic range. Staff were always on hand - from reception thru to dining service - and were most helpful and pleasant. Room was spacious, quiet and well cleaned with complimentary bottles of water, tea/coffee biscuits. Enjoyed my stay and would recommend to others. Travel to the airport is a convenient 2 minute walk to catch the number 304 bus (only £3 adult one way ticket). While the bus trip itself takes over an hour (1 hr 20 mins or so) it's a direct route for the airport. The hotel is about a 30-35 minute walk into the town centre (approx. to the Cardiff Castle or about £6 by an Uber. Some nice little coffe shops around hotel too.

Didn't seem to have an elevator, so was tough to carry suitcase up 2 flights of stairs.

The history of the hotel, the room size, the location & the breakfast choice

Turning up for breakfast at 7.45 having been told it was available from 7.30 to be told that it wouldn't actually be available until 8.00 because the prom the night before had over run. We were told that the hotel had called everyone to let them know that it wouldn't start until 8.00 but there were no calls showing on our phones. Normally this later start wouldn't matter but we wanted to get to Cardiff uni for the Open day. However, our breakfast was refunded in full to apologise for the inconvenience which we appreciated.

Absolutely stunning property so much history and architecture. Could have spent an hour or two just looking at the hotel. Room was lovely great for a family. Reception guy was super helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good for the money, maybe a more imaginative fruit salad but happy with what we had. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back. Prom dining room was beautifully decorated for all the local school leavers. No noise and beautifully tidy this morning. Great hotel Thankyou so much. 🤩🙂⭐️

Parking was a tad frustrating, especially if wanted to go sightseeing as max 5 hours pay and display.
