It is centrally located and cheap, a short walk from Cardiff central station and lots of shops and places to eat. You also get a discount in the kebab shop. I had a very large spacious room all to myself, with two double beds.
The stairs. There are an awful lot of them. Fine if you are young, fit and have no luggage. Not so great if you are old and have bags. I was lucky this time that my room was on the first floor, so only one (long) flight of stairs to climb. When I’ve stayed previously I’ve been on the third or fourth floor which nearly killed me. Put me off staying again for a long time. It’s an old building and no space for lifts to be installed. The rooms I’ve stayed in before were much smaller than the one I had this time too. No hot water from the tap in the bathroom last night or this morning.

After reading reviews I was a little worried. But there was no need. Excellent room for the price. Clean, comfortable towels, kettle, hairdryer, fan. Decor and furniture tierd but you can't see that when your asleep in comfy bed!. Really good budget place to stay.slap bang in the middle of Town ideal 🤩
The stairs! O.M.G there is no lift. They are steep and narrow. We took backpacks not suitcase. The stairs are not suitable for anyone with health problems. I am 68 and had to have a rest on each landing to get my breath. But younger and fitter, just be prepared for a climb.

I wanted to write and say that I really enjoyed my stay and was pleasantly surprised at how great of a room it was. I travel a lot and stay in many budget friendly places. After reading the reviews, I was expecting it to be more dirty/rundown. My personal opinion was that everything was very clean. The building is older and you can see that on the walls (old marks etc.) however that is to be expected when you stay anywhere older. I was also pleasantly surprised at the large comfortable bed. I paid for a single room but I think that I was upgraded and was quite happy. The room also came with a working tv. Check in was easy and the host is very responsive with Booking Messenger. The location in absolutely phenomenal. I don't think you can find a better deal in Cardiff! :)
As mentioned by other people, the carpet on the stairs was quite warn but this personally didn't bother me. Everything in the room was great condition :)

The location was fantastic next block from Cardiff castle . A minute from the train station and major bus links the market and the main Ciry everything surrounded Gyros hut where I stayed overnight. A double comfy bed an ironing board tall glasses and usual kettle tea coffee ect. I couldn't fault it and paid a peanut to stay expecting a very low scenario but got an unexpected unbelievable stay and the food hut was beneath my stay was very good.People where very nice attentive and there for me . However I never been to Cardiff going back next yr .
The TV was programmed engineered data gave BBC news which was criminal centred . Was that in poor taste . I don't know ask the community. Still I didn't go to watch television . Certainly nothing to have feeling about but worth a mention a small regard. Thankyou .Cardiff.

It was perfect. A lot of reviews focus on the shabbiness, but hell: you paid <£50 a night for a room in the centre of the Welsh capital city (for me last minute, so even more of a bargain). It was well located, very easy to check in and out, the lovely lady on the telephone was extremely helpful and very friendly, and it was generally quiet and comfy. Yes it looks like a tired and worn old house inside, but that's why it's cheap!! It's not dirty, and if you just want to sleep, it's prefect!

Enjoyed having a room on 1st floor, a comfortable bed, a nice size shower with great water pressure, just had to get used to adjusting water temperature to not too hot or cold just warm. A perfect sized T.V for the room, window open all day & night with no disturbance from noise outside - got a great deal on price of room during the week from Sunday to Thurs. so was well worth it & providing they repair a dodgy hole in the flooring of the toilet/shower, i would not hesitate to recommend it & it's location - in the thick of it ... cafes, restaurants, pubs, shops galore & within a short walking distance to Train Station, Cardiff Castle, the Millennium & Princepality Stadium, The Pierhead & Synedd Building, where u can get the best hot chocolate topped with fresh whipped cream. Loved Wales, Cardiff & surrounding areas, clean beaches, spectacular woodlands, waterfalls & all the naturally friendly Welsh people, who were unpretentious & unafraid of being themselves. I was worried about previous reviews. I found the room clean, nice beds and bedding and clean bathroom. The location was superb and staff were very helpful and pleasant. Also we stayed there at the hottest time of year and there was a fan in the room, very considerate. Thanks.
Stairs up to room are tired, but it's only walking through so didn't matter. There weren't any views but we were not there for that. Perfect place for local concert venues.

The staff in the restaurant below which belongs to the owners and is a family run business were just fabulous, very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We loved the staff. Very handy as well late at night when your feeling hungry. Accommodation is basic but clean and adequate we had come for a concert at the Principality Stadium and is ideally located as only a very short walk away ( room prices do increase when a gig is on but the location and ease to the gig justified the higher price for us). Tea and coffee facility in the rooms and rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels. If parking in the NCP car park the owners have a voucher which you purchase from them and it reduces the cost of parking we stayed for 3 nights and saved about £35.00 so well worth it and the carpark is only around the corner.
You do need to be quite fit for the stairs especially if your on the top floor as there is no lift. The carpet on the stairs is thread bare in places and does need to be replaced could potentially be a trip/fall hazard especially as the stairs are so steep.

This accommodation ticks all the boxes for a perfect stay. The room is spotless, and the location couldn't be better. Situated strategically in Cardiff, it offers easy access to all the city has to offer. Highly recommended for a hassle-free and enjoyable experience.
Despite the building's age, my stay was surprisingly enjoyable. The lower rate didn't reflect the cleanliness and comfort of the room, which exceeded my expectations. The building's old charm added to the experience, and its central location made exploring the city incredibly convenient. Overall, a pleasant surprise and a reminder not to judge a book by its cover.

Its a cheap stay and if youre not having too much expectations then this is a great place. The room is basic bu has everything you need. The size of the room was bigger than I expected and it also has an iron and kettle. Bed was comfortable. Location is great and very central
The window didnt seem to protect much and should be renovated. Its all just a bit basic and old fashioned but if you dont mind that then I can really recommend this place
