Beautiful building, very clean. Beds comfortable. Every member of staff was very smiley and helpful. Attentive bar staff, even on Wales V England Saturday night! Cocktails are excellent. Central location yet extremely quiet, would definitely stay again.

Small thing, really, would have been nice to have a fridge in the room but only stayed one night, so not so much of a problem

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff during a business trip, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The hotel's location is unbeatable, situated right in the heart of the city. The staff at the Parkgate Hotel were outstanding. From the moment I arrived, they were welcoming, friendly, and always ready to assist with any requests or questions I had. Their professionalism and genuine hospitality made my stay even more enjoyable, especially during a busy work schedule. One of the highlights of my stay was the breakfast. The variety and quality of the food were impressive, with a wide selection of delicious options to suit all tastes. The breakfast service was efficient, and the dining area was clean and comfortable, providing a great start to each day before heading to meetings. Overall, I highly recommend the Parkgate Hotel for anyone visiting Cardiff, whether for business or leisure. The combination of its excellent location, superb staff, and delightful breakfast makes it a top choice for travelers.

My name on the TV that was a very lovely touch, I felt very important haha! Everything, so clean, so inspired, beautiful, made us feel very relaxed and boujee. We would love to come back and use the spa facilities as we booked for alternative reasons. The room was spotless, no damages, bottled water and nice amount of milk for (tea/coffee) provided.

Very minor things if I’m being hyper critical, 2 extra pillows would have been nice to be propped up in bed when watching the television. There was no bible in the draw which felt strange. The most important was the breakfast, we are not a fan of them capsule’s with the food in, there was enough staff walking about to have the Breakie cooked to order, i would commend you on the quality of the sausages though, they were outstanding.

Very convenient central location, and very comfortable bed. The staff were excellent. Room was roomy and impeccably clean. Peaceful and relaxing place to stay.

The infotainment in the rooms was poor. There was no way to connect personal devices to the TV to catch up on Wimbledon through streaming services. Not that we stayed to watch the telly, we spent nearly all our time out and about enjoying Cardiff, but it's something that was weird not to have in this day and age. Not a gripe, more of an opportunity to modernise. Would have liked a fridge for medications, we've become so used to staying in AirBnB's we just assumed there would be one in our hotel room. Our fault. We'll check more closely when we book our next stay away.

Stylish and comfortable hotel in an amazing location in central Cardiff. The decor throughout the hotel is tasteful. The rooms are nice. Staff are very accommodating. They upgraded us when our original room was quite noisy. I would always stay here when travelling to Cardiff.

Breakfast is ok. There is some choice, but I always end up eating the same thing because there isn't enough choice for my dietary preferences. Personally I would prefer some plain vegan yoghurt rather than flavoured with sugar in it. I'd also like some fancy granolas and different types of bread. This might sound picky but other hotels of this quality in the UK and Europe have far more extensive breakfasts available, so this is what I'd expect from the Parkgate too.

The hotel itself is located in a wonderful historic building in the centre of Cardiff. The standard of the decor was of the highest quality. The suite we were upgraded to was superb and could not be praised enough. We had dinner in our room and that was excellent. We liked that the food had a strong local element. Breakfast the next morning was possibly the best I have had in a hotel. We slept soundly in the very comfortable bed, although I found the room a little warm, my partner thought it ideal. Generally, I would say this hotel is well worth its reputation and I would strongly recommend it.

Obviously, this standard of service and quality come at a price and it can be expensive. However, if you have flexibility and just wish to experience the location, we found reasonable rates are available. It must be said that while the hotel is of an exceptional standard, some elements relating to the location are less salubrious. It is a city centre and the area around it has all the benefits and negatives one would expect anywhere. It could be very lively indeed on event and match days.

Overall the hotel is lovely but a few things let it down.

We were offered an upgrade for £20 but felt the room had a lot of wasted space. There was no fridge, and in a hotel of this type you would expect one, especially as we upgraded. My husband waited 10 minutes for bacon to arrive got fed up came back to table, went back when I saw the waiter arriving with a dish to find still no bacon and was told it was told it would come when ready. We finished breakfast and it still hadn't arrived. Not good enough for the size and reputation of a hotel of your standing. No sanitary bags in bathroom.

Excellent location in city centre close to railway station. Well furnished, understated elegance.

Breakfast overcooked and dry sausages. A la carte option expensive and no consideration allowance for breakfast already included. Staff kept us waiting to be seated at breakfast as clearing tables and not monitoring the entrance. Being shown to a table in fairly empty restaurant and then seating people very close when there was plenty of room for some privacy. Heating controls in bedroom not clear so very cold until you re read the instructions closely. No additional privacy on windows to Main Street.

Beautiful building. Excellent facilities. Clean. Fancy. Extremely comfy beds. Worth the extra money if it can be afforded.

Our previous stay in Aug 2024 , the staff member on reception welcomed me and my wife with a smile and made us feel a bit special. Nothing crazy, just a 1 min conversation about why we were in Cardiff, the occasion for our stay etc . Unfortunately our stay last night, the staff member was not as welcoming. Took zero interest, and couldn’t process our check in fast enough. It’s little things that make a trip special. Especially for a premium hotel such as this. And I didn’t get that last night.
