The rooms are wide, airy & look very clean to the naked eyes, the shower units wide & clean toilet also clean, all members of staff I came into contact with were friendly & very professional always had a smile & would have a chat if you approached like Julianna & Ahmed. A lot of effort does seem to have been but into ensuring customer comfort. However, there was a down side the very first night I had I woke up with spots on the back of my neck thinking I had eaten something I was allergic to I did show it to a member of staff, & went out and brought medication accordingly, having stayed there for 4 nights the issue got worst my back, legs, arms & again I went & brought something different thinking that the medication I brought was not working I am now back home & have been informed that what I experienced was bedbugs bites & not allergic reactions which I don't think I have ever had if they could just get this issue under control it would be perfect. Still No fault on their part they have visitors from all over it is sure to happen at some point it is just how they deal with it now & often, I have gone through some visitor reviews & found that I was not the only person with this bedbug experience. Nonetheless, I will still like to stay at one of their hostels, trusting that the issue raised will have been sorted bearing in mind that I am not the only visitor now who has raised this issue. I have already mentioned it above in detail - bed bug bites!, with care & full treatment & often treatment perhaps once a month this can be kept under hand, I guess it just comes with the business and not the management's fault it would only be the management's fault if they decide not to do anything about it & the infestation grows & festers. Very central location, on the street with all the bars (didn't bother me but light sleepers should probably bring earplugs). Very friendly staff. Property was very clean.

The heating was on the highest temperature in the room I was in and none of us could figure out how to turn it down; despite being a cool night outside we were all sweating inside the room. Several hidden charges - using the kitchen £5.00, charges to borrow towels and linens except the bedsheet itself. Luckily I brought my own but something that people should be aware of. Lots of stairs so people with mobility issues would probably struggle.

Excellent stay, everything you need for a sleep while in Cardiff Central. Busy location near main attractions. Room was comfortable, clean and quiet enough to sleep considering it's situated on Saint Mary Street. Good for backpackers and has basics you'd need for much cheaper price than hotel.

Extra charges for storage locks and other items. Could be safer since pin code entry into dorm.

Staff friendly and helpful. If you need to make your own meals there facilities to do so. Some ingredients are avaible/offered by the hostel. Energy saving lights in the shower environmentally friendly. Excellent location!

Nothing to point out, great price for everything that's offered. To make it even better rooms could have a small lockable safe.

Absolutely delighted with my stay at Mrs Potts! I was a bit concerned before booking, as I’d come across a review mentioning bed bugs, and it did give me pause. However, from the moment I arrived, all my concerns disappeared. The place was spotless and well-maintained, with no signs of anything less than perfect cleanliness. I can confidently say there were no bed bugs or any other issues of that sort—just a cozy, welcoming environment. The staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable, greeting me with such warmth and friendliness that it felt like visiting old friends. They were attentive to any questions I had and were genuinely invested in making my experience the best it could be. The other guests I met during my stay were also fantastic, which added to the overall positive atmosphere. The rooms themselves were comfortable and charmingly decorated, with all the essentials covered. Plus, the location is fantastic, making it easy to explore the local area and take in all the nearby attractions. In the end, I can wholeheartedly recommend Mrs Potts to anyone looking for a clean, friendly, and memorable place to stay. It’s clear they care deeply about their guests and their reputation. Don't let any past reviews put you off—my experience was wonderful, and I’d happily return!

Excellent location I'm cardiff, place felt uniquely decorated and comfortable. Plenty of space and nice seating area. Beds were clean and rooms spacious. Free hor drinks were a nice touch =)

Beds were a little creaky, so if your kept awake easily by others moving then bear in mind.

Small 6 bed female dorm room. Clean and comfortable. 3 showers and single toilet with ample hot water just outside room..lockers under bed. Key pad entry to rooms,. Light and plug socket at each bed, and good privacy curtains. Perfect for short term stay.

No fault of hostel, but front facing rooms are very noisy due to overlooking st Mary st. Sadly, also had very inconsiderate room mate who was making loud phone calls into early hours. Worth taking ear-plugs. Other residents had little concern for security and kept leaving door unsecured throughout night.

The location of hostel is perfect. The room was clean and spacious. I liked curtains on the bed cause it gives you privacy.

Just 1 toilet for 2 rooms with about 10-15 people

Great central location, staff very helpful and a well equipped, cosy (if a little small for the number of guests) kitchen. My 6 bed dorm was well set out and the curtains in each bunk were great for privacy. Lovely decor and a lot of interesting architectural fittings, reflecting the history of the building.

Access to the main door & dorm doors was by keycode but unless these are changed frequently it can result in unauthorised entry by guests who have already checked out etc. This happened on my last night, after the reception was closed. Fellow guests told me the next morning that an obnoxious 'casual' former guest from my dorm had let himself back in & spent hours sat in the reception area overnight, making a nuisance of himself, including upsetting a female guest. Also accommodation of this size could do with a larger seating area for guests to relax in.

Staff is welcome and nice always!! I stayed there for a month. Beds are changed regularly and laundry was free. Great experience!
