Excellent central location, friendly and helpful staff, with a warm welcome. Great value for money, very clean despite not being the most modern of hotels. Clearly the owners are rightfully proud of what they offer, and deserve to be too.

The location is absolutely excellent for Cardiff city centre. A few steps from many bars, restaurants and tourist points of interest, perfect for our long weekend visit. The hotel itself is clean and pleasant, very friendly staff, the twin room was a good size and the beds were comfortable. Dressing table and surface space was very helpful. Lots of natural light through big windows. You don't carry your keys off the premises but ring a bell to be let in as reception staff are always present. Overall it was a very good stay and I would recommend it and stay here again.
The only downside: The bathroom was a good size, clean and with a full bath but it was impossible to control the water temperature. The shower is connected to the bath and not a separate unit. There are no separate hot / cold taps for the bath, just the shower unit where you apparently control water pressure with one side and heat with the other, but it's only scalding hot and cannot be lowered for bath or shower. There is a warning sign on the wall that the water is Very Hot, and cold water seems only available in the sink. If you are staying here I would recommend getting a tutorial on how to use it, or another room with working temperature control. Me and my friend are both from the UK and had seen nothing like it before.

This is a great location right next to the arena and Cardiff castle.. plenty of shops restaurants and bars. The staff are so friendly and the rooms are spacious.. Easy walking distance to the train station too. We'd definitely stay again. Complimentary breakfast was lovely too. Appreciate the Welsh cakes in the room
With it being on the main strip it was a bit noisy so couldn't have our window open but luckily a fan in the room to keep it cooler. Also the beds were a bit too hard for us. The price for the 2nd night was drastically higher due to the Kendrick Lamar concert being held. Otherwise it would have been great value for money.

The million-euro question is, can you find an affordable hotel and enjoy a good night's sleep there? The answer is: Cardiff Sandringham hotel! I'm always a little bit worried about this, and was so happy at Sandringham. I requested a silent room and received a room not facing the street. The staff was so lovely and they had upgraded my room because of this. And I cannot believe how well the windows blocked the street noise, even though the hotel lies exactly in the city centre. You are literally able to go shopping and come back or visit the castle and have a break in the room and go back and forth and it is so easy. The hotel is in the middle of the city. The staff is amazing. Everyone was so friendly and they also asked about my day. I really felt like a special guest and they cared about my daily tours and plans. It felt like a warm welcome since I was travelling alone. I really recommend this hotel to any single female traveller. You don't have to take any dodgy roads or dark alleys to get to the hotel. The entrance is on a well lit main street and there are 24/7 shops nearby. The hotel reception is also open 24/7. Yet you can sleep comfortably! If I'm ever back in Cardiff I'd love to stay at Sandringham again.
Can't think of anything. Just the stairs maybe, but everyone's been open about it and it shouldn't be a surprise. The main street is not particularly beautiful and may seem a bit rough.

Very friendly staff, room was lovely and clean. The reception desk is there 24 hours. . Helpful. Was very good and very easy stay
I would say is I am disabled with osteoarthritis and hotel does have flight of stairs going into hotel, I did manage it but did find it awkward. Also shower is inside bath, again difficulty for me getting in and out bath after shower.. I think maybe say about stairs as they are quite steep going up and down, and say about shower in bath. Maybe put a note on website asking if your disabled and can you manage stairs and shower in bath. But other than that ,did really enjoy my stay .

Central location, just minutes from train and bus station. A family run hotel with very friendly accommodating staff. Excellent value for money, we paid £55.00 for a double room for the night. Superb bed linen, very comfy bed making a great nights sleep. Super soft and fluffy towels. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room.
Lovely old building but unfortunately a little dated and tired. Also not suitable for those with mobility issues, lots of stairs, no lift !! We were originally allocated a room on the third floor, but when the receptionist saw the worried look on my face she promptly found us a room on the first floor, and advised us should we visit again to request a room on a lower level. We also weren’t aware that there’s no option for breakfast during the week, only served on the weekends. Although you are in the centre of town, so plenty of choice there.

Easy to find, it’s smack bang in the middle of everything and it was a May bank holiday which meant there were a lot of Stag and Hen party goers. Cardiff is pretty lively and everything is walking distance. They only do breakfast on a weekend which was fine for us. Lovely, charming staff. You get a discount on the car parking at the NCP. It’s a budget hotel in the middle of a capital city so it’s going to be a little rough around the edges decor wise but it was comfortable, quiet enough, had a bath, it felt safe.

Perfect central location. 5 mins from train station and stadium. Excellent welcoming staff. Clean and tidy room. Complementary drinks on arrival and also included breakfast, which was not expected. As well as tea and coffee making facilities, the room included personal touches like bottled water and biscuits. Also included iron and ironing board and also a fan. Just perfect for a one night stop over. Would recommend just for 5* customer service alone. Thank you.
The only small minus point is the decor is a bit outdated.

We paid just over £40 per night for a double room in the very centre of the city, during Christmas market season. We knew it wouldn't be the Ritz but it was fantastic value for the price. The staff were all lovely. We didn't try the hotel breakfast but there are plenty of places nearby to get food.
The bed wasn't the comfiest in the world, and if we had stayed longer we would have asked for extra pillows. I would stay again with my partner or friends, but would have to think more carefully if booking with older people, as reception was on the first floor and I didn't see a lift.

Welcoming hosts and a good sized comfortable room. Clean comfy bed, tv, with tea and coffee. The hotel is on St Mary street which is lined with bars, restaurants, Tesco, Sainsbury etc. Being so central it's a quick walk to everything, 6 minutes to Cardiff Staition.
My room faced the street so was a little noisy. There is no lift so if mobility is an issue you would be best to contact the lovely staff to request a room on a lower floor. The stairs to the third floor are steep, so keep that in mind.
