The proprietor Chris, manager Victoria and staff were wonderfully pleasant and helpful throughout and made our stay a great one. Contemporary style inn with a very high attention to detail. Our stay in the green room was excellent. Firm, comfy super king size bed. Beautiful, large bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. Food and drink in a cosy bar was really good. Nice front beer garden. Car park.

No breakfast served in the bar but kitchenette outside the room with table and seating. Tea and coffee machine. Refrigerator present so either pop along the road to the cafe or bring a croissant with you.

I dined in the pub restaurant. It was excellent and good value. The local villagers who use the place were welcoming and friendly as was the host. No TV in the bar or lounge, just nice soothing jazz music. Also no TV in the room but who needs a TV ? The room and huge bathroom with massive walk in shower was excellent. Great pub with great food and great accommodation.

Beautifully decorated with fab attention to detail, bed was super comfy. Staff were so welcoming and couldn’t do enough to help. Pub food was great.

Not criticisms as I understand why they aren’t available but for other guests it may be useful to know. No TV in room - so take your iPad if you want to watch film /tv. Breakfast isn’t available at Property Small communal kitchen area / with fridge/coffee & tea making facilities would really benefit from toaster / microwave if staying for more than one night.

Large comfortable room with excellent bathroom, tea and coffee facilities (with fresh milk). Friendly and attentive staff. Good food and wine in the pub/restaurant, No TV - which I think is a bonus!

There is no breakfast facility - not a problem for us as we were travelling around and there are plenty of coffee shops etc where you can get breakfast in nearby villages

Staff were friendly, helpful and pleasant. The room was very comfortable with a large bathroom ,good shower and mirrors. Easy parking.

Cleanliness would have scored 10 out of 10 but for the cobwebs on the ceiling and lying in bed and catching the spider( good job I like spiders!). The property would also have scored 10 if not for constant road traffic noise even with the windows closed.

A Little way out of Cowbridge. States breakfast is included but only toast and cereal on offer from shared kitchen area. Pop up restaurant on premises had lovely food but offering very expensive - £35pp to £65ppfor a main course. Our steak was delicious but cost of meal was expensive compared to wait staff service. Both waitresses were lovely but if you are paying too dollar would expect not to have dirty dishes stacked in front or me or to have vinegar given in sarsons bottles. Need to rethink their product offering.

Beautiful pub and rooms. Very friendly and helpful check in. Beautiful rooms. Very clean and the decor was stunning. Soap, shampoo and conditioner all smelt amazing. Excellent food and drink. Very comfortable bed and pillows - slept amazing!

There wasn’t much parking so had to park out on the road. We pre rang and asked if they had an iron as going to a wedding and they said they did, however when we got there they did not. Loved the kitchen outside the room, although the pastries weren’t great where had been left over night. Nothing huge, small teething problems which could make more value for money. However overall had a great stay and would stay again.

Booked the White Lion for overnight stay ,Birthday treat for my Husband,we had booked Hensol Castle for gin making experience which is about 3.5 miles away,Oscar very kindly offered to take us to the Distillery,we’d booked dinner for 7pm at the White Lion the gin tour was a much longer experience and didn’t finish until just before 6pm…all taxi numbers we tried were not available ..we were about to cancel our restaurant booking and Oscar came up trumps and sent his partner to pick us up…we were so grateful and very impressed with the help and kindness. The at the White Lion/ Rock and Scallop exceeded our expectations, the staff were all without exception,friendly attentive even though completely rushed off their feet with service. Highly recommend for overnight stay,our room as more of a suite ,very high quality bath products,Bed linen etc ,croissants,coffee,tea,jams and yogurt with granola set on the landing with small kitchen area..Fabulous stay..many Thanks again to Oscar and his Team!

Only downside for us was no tea / coffee in rom - have to use small kitchenette outside room shared with other rooms so not ideal would prefer in room facilities for this Also no TV in either the lounge part of suite or bedroom

A quite exceptional 'boutique' hotel. Only two rooms so book up early if you want to experience this hotel! beautifully furnished and finished bedroom, comfortable, spacious and quiet (despite being above a thriving country 'pub'). And the food served in the restaurant (again best to book in advance) - by Rock & Scallop - was worthy of Michelin stars. Simply put - "Excellent"

Breakfast - continental style Croissants and coffees, a little disappointing at the time, but on reflection probably about right and in keeping with the hotel offering - laid up in a kitchenette with table and chairs outside the bedroom - or eaten in the bedroom - up to your personal choice. Towels could be renewed each day (chose not to) but bed was not 'made-up' - I think we disturbed the 'maid' returning from our morning walk around the neighbourhood. You will need a car and 'reserved' parking would be an improvement as the parking next to the hotel fills with pub attendees and the 'actively busy' village hall.
