Modern clean room. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom had bath and shower. Tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water provided. Plenty of hanging space for clothes. Room safe provided. Ironing equipment provided. Good choice of food for breakfast, with items cooked to order if not available from buffet.

Curtains didn't cover beyond window borders, resulting in a lot of outside light leaking into room at night. I prefer very dark room to sleep in. Maybe bring a sleep mask with you. Advised swimming pool was out of action on the day we arrived. Only a one night stay so we couldn't use it, although we were advised that we could use it the following day after check out if we wished. Not sure if this was planned maintenance or unexpected event. At breakfast teas/coffee are ordered and brought to the table, unfortunately we had to chase the order up 3 times before it arrived at the end of breakfast (people who arrived later than us, didn't seem to have this problem)

The staff when we came that was on reception went above and beyond for me and my partner we arrived late in eve as we was out for my birthday 😁 and Gerald (sure I got it correct) 🫣 greeted us he was so friendly and upgraded our stay to room 501 which was exceptional absolutely amazing couldn't fault the room in the slightest we was so overwhelmed with his kindness even rang down to reception as there was no delivery for food and he arranged to bring sandwiches to the room which omg amazing spread honestly cant thank him enough he is a true gentleman and a true asset to your team at the vale Thanks again we will be returning and leaving you a tip sorry we missed you 😘

Nothing we didn't like It was absolutely everything

The leisure facilities were very good. The staff were all great - especially the housekeeping team on the 2nd floor, who were friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast and enjoyed sitting in the conservatory with the beautiful view. A great hotel and would stay again.

Our room had an adjoining door to the next bedroom and no soundproofing and even when our neighbours were talking at a normal level, we could hear every word. Not sure if this was just the particular room we stayed in, or throughout the hotel?

Had a lovely stay. As residents we could use the swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and gym. Swimming pool open until 10pm. Great executive room with a balcony. Had a safe, an iron and ironing board. Beautiful breakfast. All staff polite. Did the gin tasting tour in the neighbouring hensol castle - really good.

Our evening meal in the restaurant was disappointing. Very poor service due to a few members of staff calling in sick. Limited menu too, in our opinion. Check there's something you like first. Should have just eaten in the bar.

Room was very nice

The GRILL Restaurant was absolutely shocking. I've never been so amazed at how bad service, food etc could be. I arrived at 8.15, took around 7/8minutes to be seated as staff just walked past, their was only 5 tables full! I was then seated, ordered almost straight away, food then didn't arrive for 45 minutes. It was absolutely shocking, chicken was dry, tasted vile. This was my worst experience dining out. If I was paying with my own money I would not have paid. And to think, the total was £38! Absolutely joke. Extremely disappointed. Have eaten in the main bar and had no issues, food was pub style standard grub.

Breakfast was good. Nice variety, smoked salmon available which made my wifes day. Plus crispy and regular back bacon available. Venue is big and very spacious. Great views over countryside and rooms comfortable and really , quite clean.

The Grill restaurant left a bit to be desired. 2 AA rosettes, but seemed shirt staffed and my wife got stuff she is allergic to on her plate, helpful restaurant manager offered a free dessert/ drink etc to apologise, we declibned , and would just rather of it be right.

Great location for my needs and very easy to get to just off the M4 motorway

The complaint is the making of the beds! This the second occasion on the trot. The first visit we had a king sized (2 single zipped together) but only had a double quilt on top and so every time either my wife or I turned over in the night we end up with more or less no quilt. Second visit we opted for single bed which are comfy if the beds are made correctly. The single quilt was put into a double quilt cover and was all screwed up inside at the bottom also the bottom none fitted sheet was too small !! And shift over the bed every time you moved in the night ! This an issue for house keeping to sort out. This is my only complaint, it might seem trivial but it leads to an uncomfortable night.

Location was great, good value for money, food was decent, hot tub swimming pool jacuzzi and steam room makes it that much better than other hotels in the area that don't have it.

On our final morning we were asked where we would like to sit so both said in the conservatory with the great view. Only to be told they had been set up for dinner at 9am in the morning. It's hardly the biggest room so wouldn't take long to set up. If this is the case we should have been told on arrival before asking us if we had a presence of where to sit. Minor thing but was abit disappointing.

Excellent weekend break with everything you need . Stunning view with a balcony We were given a bottle of wine and water on arrival, which is a very thoughtful touch. Spa facilities with a range of treatments including use of hotels swimming pool ,sauna ,steam room and Jacuzzi. Room service was excellent (we had breakfast excellent selection and delivered on time)

We have tried the evening menu a few times and we were disappointed . If the menu and food was upgraded we would have given a 10 .

As expected the room was beautiful, had everything we needed, was warm and cosy and the staff were very accommodating.

We couldn’t make breakfast as my partner wasn’t very well with an injured back. I told the staff at check out in general conversation and I was hoping to be offered something back. Although I know this is of no fault to the hotel, it was of no fault to us either and I think an offer of credit or use of spa another day, money off a meal there etc would have gone a long way
