Room was very comfortable. Lyndon the owner couldn't do enough and always at hand to help out, nothing was ever to much. The breakfast was lovely. The guest house was very quiet and you never get disturbed.

Gail's Guest House is in a great location to visit Barry Island, free parking is available on the street - beware for permit restrictions. The owners have provided a helpful map in reception area, showing where you can park for free. Our room was on the top floor and upon arrival it was well presented, we were grateful to be provided a Phillips fan as it was very warm! It was a shame to notice how dusty the inside of the fan was the next morning. Breakfast was included in the price of the room, pre-order was required. The breakfast was lovely and served with a smile. The bathroom was clean but the shower did have mould around the seal and inbetween the tiles - which was disappointing to see and I did mention this on my departure. We also had a family room but were only provided 2 mugs / plastic glasses - attention to detail and something that could be easily rectified. We all did sleep really well though and the beds were super comfortable. Overall, Gail's Guest House does represent good value for money.

Sadly the stairs and the sloping ceiling, but that is an age thing not the owners fault, the top floor is not suitable for my needs that is why I put no in the expectation box, I found it difficult climbing the narrow stairs. but we had altered our booking a few weeks earlier so we must have getting a room change then.

We have just returned from a weekend stay at Gail’s Guest house and we had a great time. The location to Barry is perfect, it was close enough so we could walk in daily but not too close where we could hear the attractions from our room. Breakfast is fantastic and very well cooked. Staff are fantastic too and cannot do enough to help. We had to text Lyndon a few times and he replied very quickly and very helpful. The room itself is very well equipped and a good size. Bed was extremely comfortable and the large wardrobe was great to see. There was a little bit of mould around the shower seal but this didn’t bother us and the air vent cover kept falling off the wall but again this didn’t bother us. Parking just to the side of the building on a quiet road which was fantastic. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return / recommend to anyone who wants to stay in Barry.

Really close to the train station and the beach. We attended a concert at the principality stadium and it was so easy to get there and back on the train and much cheaper than hotels in Cardiff. Breakfast was good with a large selection.

Parking was on the street around the corner and I always feel cheeky parking outside someone else's house. The street in front of Gail's is permit only. Having said that there was plenty of parking

The breakfast was excellent and cooked fresh when I arrived. The cook was very accommodating and waited for me to arrive after finishing my triathlon race before cooking. This was close to the end of the 30min slot which I had noted this on the breakfast order the night before and the staff were great about this thankyou/

As I was in the room at the top of the house the beams were low in place. I recommend turning the main bed round 90 degrees which might make it easier to walk round the room. I did hit my head a couple of times , changing the position of the bed might avoid this.

The room was spotless, everything was provided - down to little shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Kettle and tea/ coffee facilities in the room which also had an ironing board, iron and hairdryer. A lovely large smart TV - perfect ! Lovely choice for breakfast which was cooked perfectly. Communication was excellent, and instructions very clear.

Would have liked a cafetière of coffee with breakfast instead of sachets of coffee but appreciate this is a personal choice. The tea pot could have done with a run through the dishwasher to get rid of the staining and tacky feel. These were minor issues and didn’t affect our stay and we didn’t mention them as they were insignificant .

The property was very off putting when we pulled up very shabby looking needs up dating from outside kerb appeal not good inside had been refurbished and the bedrooms where very cosy and the beds were very comfortable only thing missing was a mattress protection the dining room was not very inviting the breakfast was very small and because it was a pre booked idea there was items missing

The breakfast was prepared exactly how you wanted it. The property was quiet and in a great location. Lucy and Clifford used good messaging (for example, on the slip of paper accompanying the room key) and were not intrusive hosts.

I wonder whether the hosts ought to think about sustainability a little more in the bathroom accompaniments — perhaps by switching the hand soap to one that can be refilled, and by providing a washable/reusable glass next to the sink rather than plastic cups.

We like quaint hotels and such and this was right up our alley. Lyndon was wonderful and put a personal touch to morning breakfast with lots of conversation. The bed was super comfortable, there was a large TV in the room and we had a private bath. There was no curfew so we could stay out late. We were also welcome to use the kitchen as needed. Parking in front was not allowed but there was plenty available behind the building.
