The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming - always a kind word, a smile on the face, and professional through and through. The whole Melina team truly sees it as their task to ' take care of their guests' (from small daily tasks to helping a guest out that cut his foot badly on coral and needed to be brought to a doctor in the dark by boat and through the jungle). The location is excellent for those that want to experience nature, beach and stay away from the crowds. Our 2 children teamed up with the many other kids and played happily and independently in the hotels private bay and we loved seeing the monkeys, giant squirls and beautiful fish right out front.

Seeing the harsh reality of people working at the resort (shifts of 15 hours, 7 days a week, months in a row, on low salaries) - which will be the same at all other places, so no Melina-specific problem. They deserve nothing but praise and generous tips. Melina organizes nice snorkeling trips. If you want to go diving you have to go to Genting or Psya, which involve a 20-30 hike through the jungle (on a path) before or done kind of arrangement with a boat taxi to pick you up. Food at Melina is good, but pricey.

Very good Staff, location, food, and Facility. The food is very good specially the rendang. Suggest to add more selection in the menu.

Great location, peaceful, green. Comfortable accommodation. Nice layout. Simple but effective common areas. Breakfast is nice, lunch ad dinner menu is the same, so after 3 days can get a bit limited, it would be nice if there was a lunch menu with some lighter meals on it, then a different menu for dinner. Nice private beach

Could you move all the rocks a couple of feet to the right? (Only joking!) Lunch and Dinner menu is the same - would be nice to have a lighter option for lunch No Spa. Both Booking.com and the website both mention the spa. Turns out the spa shut down. Disappointing as I deliberately chose a spa resort for this trip. If I had known, I would have gone elsewhere. Sorry.

Small, boutique establishment. Private, safe, easily accessible beach. Quiet: no traffic noise, no motorbike noise, no music blaring in the restaurants, no noisy TVs blaring from neighbouring cabins (occasional boat engine noise). We went snorkelling straight from our cabin - it wasn’t spectacular but we enjoyed it (and still saw fish/ rays; masks and snorkels and flippers supplied free by Melina). We also did a snorkel trip organised by Melina - all very convenient.

This is a negative AND a positive: it took 30 mins to walk to a village (eg Gentung or Paya). I was happy with this because I didn’t need stuff from a village (come with your own fave snacks) and this distance helps maintain the serenity at Melina.

The staff is very friendly and tries their best to accommodate your requests and make your stay enjoyable. The resort is surrounded by wilderness, with the jungle behind and the ocean in front. Away from the hustle and bustle, it is very calm—I call it luxury. The resort helped arrange snorkeling trips, which were awesome. It’s family-friendly; kids have lots of fun playing on the beach and in the sea. They even befriended a cat and had a nice time. The food was very good. Breakfast offered a variety of foods, and since some of us are vegetarian, they had options to accommodate us. I certainly recommend the resort to anyone who likes to spend quality time and enjoy nature.

Private beach. Not too many people. I appreciate that it was just snorkelling and kayaking that was available. But they can arrange for excursions to other islands too. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Beautiful walk amidst the big boulders on the beach when it was low tide.

Food was good but a bit pricey and limited in choice. Because it’s a little further from other places (20-30mins hike/walk), you’ll likely opt to eat in. The rooms were decent and clean. However, be prepared that due to the natural environment, there were ants everywhere despite the cleanliness. Beach was relatively clean but there was some construction debris in the sea - me and my kids cut our feet on jagged bricks.

Staying at Melina was an incredible experience! Situated in a fantastic location, it's the perfect destination to unwind from the stresses of everyday life. Patrick, the enthusiastic host, provided us with a comprehensive overview of the area and suggested various activities to enjoy. The attentive staff, Rose and Jay, were always ready to cater to our needs with a warm smile, making our stay truly memorable. The cuisine at the resort, overseen by Chef Hakim, was exceptional, and he happily accommodated special requests. I highly recommend renting a boat from the resort and embarking on a snorkeling tour around the island. Overall, it was a fabulous experience, and I'm already looking forward to planning my next trip here soon!

I am nitpicking here - While the food was good and portion size was large, prices are on the higher end compared to other places on the island.

Isolated beautiful private beach

When the booking was made, it was stated that breakfast included. However, when the booking by the resort, it showed only for room. So I had to pay separately at the resort for breakfast. This shouldn't have happened. From the resort notification booking.com app, I received a text saying to click the link to finalise the reservation after clicking on it ,asked to update credit card and insert sms code ,without realising I inserted, it was a bank OTP number. I was scammed, and I was charged 2x (despite only inserted once). Bulgarian currency 728 x2 was charged in my credit card.

It’s difficult to put into words something that feels so good! The resort is perfectly set right between the jungle and the sea in a secluded and private area. The jungle provides the necessary shade and beautiful green sloped background. The sea provides its own reef right at the beach. The beach itself is white, super clean and contains beautiful boulders, trees, the best panoramic views and some comfy hammocks and swings. The restaurant and bar provide for a nice lounge area overlooking the beach and sea. It’s just minutes by boat from the best coral reef aquariums you can imagine with thousands of fish in all colors of the rainbow, and dozens of reef sharks, turtles, rays, etc. It’s also only minutes away (5 by boat, 20 by foot) from two charming island villages. The resort is not super luxurious but it does have all the luxury you need and it just feels very luxurious as it’s super comfortable, with spacious rooms that are spotless and have large private decks and really blends in with nature. It offers a lot of nice trips and has a tasteful and varied breakfast, lunch and dinner (contrary to what other reviews state prices are very reasonable and cheaper than most places on the mainland). The staff goed above and beyond to make you feel at home and to provide everything that you wish for. No request is considered too much. A lot is provided complimentary, such as shuttle service, canoes, snorkeling gear, water, coffee and tea. They even provide a lot of toys for kids. It’s a place you must experience and you will not regret!

Nothing worth mentioning!

The staff were amazing catering to all our needs and super friendly. It was great to have a private beach with corals right at the beachfront. The beach was clean and the restaurant was very clean. The view from the restaurant and at the beach were amazing. Snorkeling gear was free. The location of the room opening directly to the beachfront was amazing.

Transportation from jetty to resort was below expectation and approach was unprofessional as it had a dent on the start of our vacation. Food was good but could be improved especially the breakfast buffet. However, Seafood platter was superb. Room pricing did not match the size of the room nor the complimentary guest facilities provided (spa, board games, wifi coverage in room, limited bar)
