The house is centrally located, walking distance from everywhere, with free parking nearby (3' walk). The room was small, a little bit noisy (not great insulation) but with so nice view from the balcony over the village. The two shared bathrooms were small but clean (as well as our room), and all amenities working good. The kitchen and sitting room downstairs wide and well equipped. The staff member who I talked to (or owner, I don't know) was extremely helpful when contacted, prompt reply, very good English spoken. Keep in mind the room's size if you plan to stay longer. But I would recommend this place for short stays.

Insulation

It was the nicest place I've stayed in years. I asked if I could drop my bag before check-in time and received a wonderful response. I was very happy when I saw my room, it was a tasteful blend of traditional with modern. There is a communal area and other guests I came across there were friendly. The location is great and I would definitely stay there again.

As mentioned, it was the best place I've stayed in years. The only niggle I had is that the toilet flush didn't stop properly so the trickle disturbed my sleep on the first night. In the morning I found that the long-flush did stop properly so solved the problem caused by the short flush. I mention this as a tip in case anyone experiences similar and certainly not to influence anyone against going there. I still fully recommend the place.

My second stay here so I knew what to expect as the enjoyment level of any stay here is always dependent on the other guests staying as noise travels a lot, the kitchen is a shared facility and some of the rooms also share bathrooms. I was lucky again that my fellow guests were both friendly and considerate so it went well. The weather was rather terrible so I didn't get to use my balcony, but I just wanted to try a different room from my last stay. I walked up Foia which was easy to locate from Monchique and would have been beautiful in better weather, but was still enjoyable regardless.

One tiny niggle - this time I was on the top floor with a shared bathroom, last time I had a room with private bathroom. My fellow sharers were as considerate as they could be, but the sliding door to this shared bathrooms is quite stiff and awkward which means that even with everyone trying their hardest to be quiet it does make quite a slamming sound to get it to fully shut. I am a good sleeper and I wear ear plugs but if you're not then I imagine it would be quite surprising if someone did that in the middle of the night. It made me a bit conscious every time I went in there if I was annoying someone. It's an old house so the conversion opportunities are probably limited, but the door could have been altered to run more smoothly and quietly on the runners to avoid this.

Nice clean and comfortable property, located in the centre of Monchique, I had the double en suite room which was overlooking the street, lovely with the windows open making the most of the warm mountain air, the property boasts a full kitchen and dining room that is well stocked with cooking utensils should you wish to dine in. In summary, a traditional town house in close proximity of the square, clean, comfortable and very reasonable in price, we would definitely stay again.

Great place to stay in the middle of the little town of Monchique. Perfect for hiking out. The room is a bit small, but very nice. We really appreciated the big and fully equipped kitchen with fridge etc and the little living room downstairs. Really sweet place.

It can get a bit hot and sticky in the room and there is no air conditioning. The building resonates quite some noise from the inside (doors opening and closing, showers in the neighboring room, TV from the neighboring room). We had some really nice and quiet room neighbors though and it wasn't a problem for us.

A nice, cosy building in the centre of the city, with a breakfast bar, restaurant and shop nearby. Easy way to get in, we haven't even met our host.

It is almost impossible to park near it, you have to be prepared for a 5-10 minute walk. During the winter months the common areas are cold, but the rooms can be heated by an electric heater.

A lovely traditional house in the cute little town Monchique. I visited during the low season, so I was alone there, but there are several rooms in the same building with shared space downstairs. It is only a couple of steps from the little central square and very close to the bus station. Everything was clean and comfortable.

The house itself is really nice and pleasant with good facilities. It is located not too far up some stairs just off a square and there are pleasant walks all around. The check in process was easy and the whole experience was hassle free.

The beds could have been more comfortable, as could the pillows. The sound travels quite a bit so you can hear people coming up the stairs. The room we were in (the two twin beds) was extremely small. Overall this was a fantastic place at a fantastic price but wouldn't be comfortable for more than a night or two.

Loved the balcony and waking up to the sunrise. Loved that it was close to all things and parking in the town was free. Comfortable room, all amenities provided. Great space

No room for lots of luggage. I was in my own so it was easy but 2 people would be a squish if you had very big bags.

Location is wonderful

There isn’t anywhere to put anything in the bedroom except on the floor. There’s a small wooden chair. It would be good to have a headboard on the double bed for somewhere to lean against. A shelf in the bathroom would also be a useful addition. We only received the email regarding check-in procedure a couple of hours before we arrived in Monchique. We were travelling at the time. The day before would have been better and then the PIN on the day.
