We were left a code and key so we could let ourself in a little before check-in time which was very much appreciated, especially because it was it was raining heavily. An excellent breakfast with many choices was included. The common area in the breakfast room was available for guest use, it seemed. We loved the location as we could walk everywhere and cafes and shops were nearby. Good value. P.s. We recommend walking or cycling the path along the exterior wall: a very pleasant and easy walk for all ages.
There was an unpleasant acidic odor we noticed when entering the room. We could not identify it or the source, and it did not go away. The room is not soundproof, but we slept well despite that and we enjoyed our two-night stay.

This B&B is in an excellent location inside the walls and on one of the streets that circle Piazza Antifeatro, and also is close to one of the gates into the piazza. There are restaurants galore on that street, and in the piazza itself. The piazza is a busy spot, but we heard no noise from it. Our room had a comfortable queen bed, ample storage, AC, a reasonable size modern bathroom with a walk-in shower. The artwork on the walls of our room portrayed memorable Lucca landmarks which added character to the space. The breakfast was good -- lots of choices, and one of the owners on site to make you an expresso or cappuccino. Check-in was straightforward. Our cab was able to drop us nearby, and a city bus stop is a short walk away. On our previous stay in Lucca we stayed in a b&b that was close to the Duomo. We found the Antifeatro location to be preferable.
This is not a criticism, just something to be aware of if your mobility is not what it once was -- the B&B is 12 stairs up from the door at the street.

I was travelling for only 5 days around Tuscany with my teenager son. Unfortunately we were short of time so we could spend only one night in the beautiful medieval town of Lucca. I have found the B&B "Anfiteatro" through Booking.com and I'm so pleased for choosing this B&B. The location is excellent just beside the Anfiteatro round square. The "Borgo" of Lucca looks small but there are so many hidden landmarks to discover, every corner has an history mainly from Romanic and Renaissance times. There are beautiful Romanic and Renaissance churches and Towers. The Historical centre is very alive but we felt very safe in Lucca compared to other places like Pisa or Florence of course bigger cities. I recommend to stay in Lucca even to visit Pisa or reach the beach locations. The train will take you to Pisa in just half hour or to Viareggio. Florence is an hour away by train. The B&B Anfiteatro is a family home owned by two brothers, Luca and Marco, who are extremely nice and helpful. They have done an amazing restoration work but left the authentic Italian old fashion countryside houses, yet adding all the comfortable moderne features inside the structure. Our room had a mini fridge, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, smart TV, a new powerful shower and bathroom but the style of the room was still present. The breakfast was actually the best we had while travelling in Tuscany the past 5 days. Fresh homemade Italian cakes, eggs, fresh cheeses, bread, charcuterie, juices,coffees...really beautifully presented. Luca and Marco can help you with tips on where to eat and what to do in Lucca. When I'll visit Lucca again, I'll definitely book their B&B. Tips: if you can travel to Lucca in early Spring or Fall months, not too hot and too overcrowded. Thank you so much for the lovely stay. Hotel has perfect location, in the heart of the old city, just a few minutes from all main points of interest. Lovely atmosphere. We enjoyed clean bathroom, good toiletries, nice breakfast, comfy beds, possibility to make tea in the kitchen. Place was relatively quite in the evening and night despite being in lively neighborhood. Staff is polite and welcoming.
The entrance to the hotel has very steep steps - problematic to go with baggage, or for persons with mobility issues. Booking didn't emphasize it clearly. Not very convenient time for check in (quite late), and without possibility to leave your baggage before check in and after check out for several hours.

Fantastic location, very easy to get around the city by foot. The train station is only 15 minutes walk away, where you can easily travel to Florence, or Viareggio on the coast. Our accommodation, the Lavender suite has far-reaching views over Lucca to the mountains, and is surrounded by numerous places to eat. It is quiet, as there is no traffic (pedestrian area) and I would recommend it if you're coming to Lucca. Francesco was there to greet us in the afternoon, and made us feel welcome. Good breakfast, and very relaxing atmosphere. Luca, who served us at breakfast time was very cheerful and helpful, - all in all, a perfect host.
Perhaps the bathroom could have been lit better (it was quite dim), but everything else was good

Very spacious and prettily decorated studio apartment. Enjoyed the little balcony and opening windows. Nice big bathroom. Mostly very quiet, despite being right in the historic town centre. Excellent modern elevator in the annexe where I stayed made getting bags up to the 2nd floor easy. Specials thanks to the helpful reception/ breakfast guy who tried for nearly an hour to call me a taxi to the train station on a Sunday, during a train strike!
No kettle in the room- there were facilities outside the room to make tea/ coffee but it meant you had to be dressed! The room was a bit dusty. The staff member who showed me the room was quite brusque and unwelcoming. Not all the same breakfast options were available each day of my stay- eg: cereal/ muesli.

Location was fantastic, and yet room was quiet. Staff were helpful and kindly prepared a takeaway breakfast for me one morning, at my request.
It was more difficult to coordinate further travel plans than I thought - I was told I could leave a bag after check out but then told on the day that I tried to do so that the office is closed from 11am to 3pm, meaning I would not be able to collect the bag until after 3pm. I had a bus to catch before then so had to take my luggage with me at 10.30am check out and sit in a square for a few hours. This would be very inconvenient if you had to wait the full 4 hours! Also, breakfast starts at 8.30 which makes it difficult to coordinate catching trains if you are taking a day trip (particularly to Florence). However, the staff kindly prepared a takeaway breakfast for me the night before, at my request.

The location is perfect as it is very central, with lots of bars, cafes, restaurants, and the beautiful square just a few mins walk. The room was large and airy, bigger than a normal hotel room. The additional communal area for making coffee/tea before going out was a bonus. The bed was comfortable and very big, and I loved the authentic Italian style that the room and building was in.
I would have liked a full length mirror in the room. The room was a little chilly and I couldn't work out the heating, but there were extra blankets available so I used one and this helped. Breakfast was in a coffee shop, would have been nice to have some minimal supplies in the kitchen area to eat at the B&B.

The location was ideal, one street away from the Piazza Anfiteatro, walking distance to many restaurants and close to the attractions. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast options included pastries, meats, cheeses, fruit, eggs, etc —all delicious and appreciated.
There was some kitchen noise from the restaurant below us (coming up in the area between all the buildings) but since we were out visiting Lucca all day and evening, it wasn’t an issue. It was quiet at night.

Large, clean rooms, AC, Hairdryer. breakfast was good. Location is right next to Anfiteatro, we were not bothered by any noise ! 15 minute walk to the Station. 20 Minute walk to the Wednesday Street market.
check in time 3pm and nowhere to leave luggage until that time.We had to leave ours at the Station left luggage 5 Euro each piece as we arrived at 11am ..bit inconvenient ! Check out 10.30 am , left luggage can only be collected at 3pm ! ,our flight was at 6.45 so we had to leave our luggage at Pisa airport left luggage... Apart from that it was great!
