The hotel lived up to the description in its marketing and delivered as promised. Late check-in by car was straightforward and hassle-free. The parking area is secure, enclosed by a tall fence and monitored by a guard, which gave a good sense of safety.

The pool area is pleasant and well-maintained, but the noise from the heavy traffic just outside the property is quite noticeable, especially if you're trying to relax or unwind. The lighting in the room is generally adequate, but it could definitely be improved—particularly the reading light, which is too weak for comfortable reading in the evening.

I can't rave about this place enough! It was our first stop during our 3 week stay in San Jose, yet it was one of the most memorable ones. My family and I stayed in the dome cabin. It was clean, spacious and comfortable. The entire grounds were well kept, like something out of a magazine, really. All of the plants and hiking trails were just beautiful. The on-site restaurant was so beautiful and slightly upscale. It had some of the best dinner options in Alajuela. The plates were a little more expensive than I'm accustomed to, but worth every penny. All of the meals we had there were fantastic. The restaurant staff was particularly kind and accommodating. We had some of the best waiters I've ever met. Dining with two little ones can be a hand-full, but they did not bat an eye! They were ready to help wherever possible. By the time we left, my family and I all wished that we had booked more days at Villa San Ignacio. We didn't want to leave!

My only recommendation would be to put an AC unit in the dome room.

The breakfast was hands down the best breakfast I had in Costa Rica. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we're cared and catered for. Special shoutout to the bartender Tomas, Jen (reception girl with the dog!) and Angie the waitress. Those people were beyond hospitable and they're the heart of the property. The restaurant is very underrated because we had some of the best food in San Jose right there. Folks staying usually ditch the hotel and go to eat outside, trust me, you have to try the food in their restaurant!!

The rooms could be nicer but honestly this is just me being very picky. It's amazing and there's nothing I didn't like :)

Excellent choice for relaxing after a long flight. We chose this hotel due to its proximity to the airport and we spent our first and last night in Costa Rica. The rooms were clean, the bed very comfortable, and they provided high quality towels. We slept with earplugs as we saw some of the other comments regarding the noise. The breakfast and dinner were great and the people very warm. For the few hour we had left, we used their swimming pool and had a long walk through their amazing garden! So beautiful and diverse. Don't miss their private small forest with some short trails to walk! Highly recommended, especially for the ones that plan to go up north after arriving.

It really is a little gem of a property The drive was a bit scary as we were redirected through back roads but once we found it everything was great. Secure and very well kept, lovely pool and grounds Ample free parking, nice bar and decent food. Happy hour was excellent ,$4 cocktails went down a treat. Room was very clean and well presented ,lovely shower, plenty of space.AC worked fine but no TV .🤷🏼‍♂️ The property is on the older side but is a great value Breakfast was ample and service was excellent

Very well kept, nice pool bar and restaurant on site Great Happy Hour Enjoyed our stay,20 mins drive to airport ,no complaints

We stayed two nights total in Villa San Ignacio, at the beginning and end of our trip to Costa Rica. For this purpose it was ideal; close to the airport (you'll be thankful for that if you have a late arriving or early departing flight!), an attractive and secure property with plenty of parking and a good restaurant on-site. Great breakfast and friendly, efficient service, too! I would stay again.

The rooms and bathrooms (or at least ours) were a little worn and dated, but clean and overall comfortable. The pool was surprisingly chilly, but this may be because the beautiful gardens create a lot of shade.

We had the fortune to stay here with friends in two simple rooms at the beginning of our stay and then alone in the King balcony room at the end. The people working here are delightfully engaging...we loved talking to Sergio (who got us coffee and banana bread in time to drive to the airport) and to Thomas about his travels and the other beautiful woman who helped in the bar. We saw special birds on this property including a Summer Tanager, Lesson's Motmot, and White-crowned Parrot. This feels surreal given that we spent so many days in remote areas and these beauties showed up 30 minutes from the airport. There is city noise as this lovely place is in the city!

In the small rooms where we stayed at the beginning, it would be great to have at least 2 chairs and a little table. We took advantage of the late night food delivery (thank goodness!).

A lovely oasis close to the airport. A colonial style hotel - we much prefer this to the big brand hotels. The double comfort room was definitely comfortable, with a balcony to enjoy the view over the garden and mountains beyond. Lower rooms seem to be most recently refurbished and also have great garden views (as shown in hotel pics). Enjoyed my morning cup of tea on the balcony, watching the birds (packed a travel kettle). We enjoyed exploring the nature trails and the restaurant served good food- lovely ambiance on the terrace.

A kettle or coffee making facilities would have been great but maybe if I’d asked they would have provided one.

Spacious room. Comfortable bed. Powerful shower (though the water wasn't always hot). Room was serviced each day. All the staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We made good use of the swimming pool, chess board and pool table. The breakfasts were good - we were able to choose a different freshly cooked breakfast on each of our 4 mornings and the coffee was good. We dined in the restaurant on 2 occasions - the food was good and the prices were fair. Very good location for the airport.

Just a few suggestions to improve the customer experience: provide fruit juice at breakfast (rather than it being an optional extra to be paid for); have tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms.

A pretty boutique hotel in lovely grounds, not far from the airport. We stayed in the beautiful, larger king room with balcony- a lovely place to sit and spot some birds! Didn’t get a chance to play pool in the downstairs room but a great space! Enjoyed the nature trails, pool and restaurant. They put fruit out at breakfast time to attract birds - excellent breakfast! I had fruit then omelette, and bottomless coffee.

Wish there had been a coffee machine for early risers. Some traffic noise but the hotel can’t help that (wasn’t an issue at night) and the lovely grounds made up for it.
