Beautiful villa with private pool (a must!). Incredible service, wonderful helpful workers. Loved renting the scooters for the day. So peaceful and grounding. Our favorite place in Asia!

We had one morning where the water wasn’t working which was fixed by the afternoon!

Stayed here a week and could have stayed longer, absolutely loved it. The Villa was perfect, we had a Villa on the back row, firstly the views were to die for and secondly it was great to see all the different wildlife and hear all the different noises from the trees behind it! The Villa had everything you needed and having your own pool was amazing. The grounds, villas and pools were well maintained. The staff were outstanding, so kind and helpful - the staff made it extra special. The food was absolutely amazing had breakfast most days and ate in the restaurant a number of times and each time the food was outstanding - a great chef and great staff. Could not fault this place.

We were looking for a very quiet place without tourists and found it here! Perfect location away from everyone. We had a room with a private pool, which is very convenient because there is no beach within walking distance. The staff helped us rent bikes and we could visit any beaches on the island :) If we decide to return to the island, then only to this hotel!

It was not convenient for me that the air conditioner is located directly above the bed, but we were able to set it up ok)

The room came with its own infinity pool, with amazing views of the sea. There were lots of little touches many hotels don't provide such as mosquito repellent candles and plug in adapters, they also provided mosquito body lotion to add at the end of the day. There was an outdoor and indoor shower and a fan as well as air conditioning for you to choose from. The staff where amazing, so friendly and helpful, the island is very secluded and not a lot going on so we hired a motorbike from them and they ran through how to use it as we gained our confidence. At breakfast you where offered a list of how to have your eggs and the choice of food was the best we had from the 5 hotels we visited, they also offered drinks/ snacks and had an evening & lunchtime menu with smoothies and iced drinks also available. Laundry service also provided at a small additional cost. This is a lovely place to visit as a couple or with family and I would highly recommend.

Great and HUGE (bath)rooms! At first - by accident - booked a villa without swimmingpool, when we found out rang and they upgraded us to villa with private pool (ofcourse we payed extra). Staff is exceptional. Super friendly, great with kids, understanding and helping out anywhere possible. They go above and beyond for their guests. Arranged good car rental. Breakfast is amazing: so much choice, healthy, fresh fruits, yoghurt, eggs, cereal, wholemeal toast, cakes, Thai style, lots of drinks. Really impressive. The onsite restaurant is great (especially travelling with young kids) and the food WOW! Just mouth watering every time and prepared with love and so much taste. They always made sure the kids food came first so they didn’t get hangry. Would highly recommend for families!!!

Beds were very hard (that’s probably also Thai style) and we thought laundry service was a bit expensive compared to other laundry services around. We didn’t have any problems climbing the stairs or carrying or backpacks up and down (you can get help obviously), but if you’re not in good health: it is called “hillside” with good reason ;).

Location was fantastic and staff were adorable and so helpful in the most part. Mimi in particular could not do enough to make our stay wonderful and reception staff were so happy and willing to order taxis and book transport for us etc. The accommodation was fantastic - clean, spacious, private, anaxing views - what’s not to like?! Evening meals in the restaurant were tasty and plentiful.

Breakfast wasn’t the best we’d had and bed a little hard for me but I’m sure for most it is fine.

We loved our stay at Hillside. The staff were kind and helpful whenever we needed attention. The restaurant serves some of the best food on the island. And our room with private pool was perfect. We picked Koh Yao Yai because it is a little less developed than other popular destinations around the Andaman Sea. What is nice about Hillside is you have an incredible view of the water and surrounding karsts, but you are also on the road making it easy to get around on your own. Some lodgings feel so isolated you have to have a vehicle or you never leave. Hillside's location gives you options. Some days we never left. As of February 2023, the island gets has little traffic, so there was no issue for us being on the main road. We had very little noise. The surrounding forests are home to a few sea eagles so sit back, relax and enjoy this sweet location. If you are looking for beach and a bar, this is not your spot :-)

Internet speeds are slow for video calls if you travel with work. We had access to a local esim that made essential video calls manageable.

Staying in the villa with a private pool was an absolutely awesome experience. The room was fantastic, offering a sublime view of the sea that took our breath away. The private infinity pool created unforgettable memories—it was the perfect spot to relax and soak in the beauty of the surroundings. The staff was exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay special. They even helped transport our luggage to our next hotel on the island—something I’ve never experienced before. It was such a thoughtful gesture. The hotel also provides the convenience of renting motorbikes directly on-site, which made exploring the area incredibly easy. The breakfast was another highlight—very varied and delicious, with a great selection of both hot and savory/sweet options to satisfy every taste. A huge thank you to the team for making our stay so special. This was truly a memorable experience, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a perfect getaway.

The property was everything we hoped for and more. We stayed in the family villa and it was super clean and comfortable, plus the pool was even bigger than we expected (and over looking the water just wow)! All of the staff were super lovely and accomodating and made our stay very comfortable. Thank you for having us!

A few restaurants within walking distance but need to taxi/drive to most places on the island - which is super cheap and easy but just worth noting!

Beautiful place in a land of beauty. We stayed in a lodge without a pool, big, airy, clean, and characterful. The staff throughout are pleasant, friendly, and extremely helpful without being overpowering or pushy. It's a very quiet island but only a short trip to the usual madness if you need that fix. The food in the restaurant was excellent too with a fair range at reasonable prices. Can't fault this place at all and would recommend it to friends straight away. A very beautiful lodge with everything you need in it, including a spa bath, they also let us stay in our room until 3pm at no extra costs until we went for the ferry. Thank you so much for a truly magical stay here.
