Location beautiful and quiet, though no restaurants nearby - but that’s fine if you’re happy to do a 15 min walk. Loved sitting on the porch for cheese and wine in the evening - all very good quality despite being free. Staff were very helpful and generous. Was a pleasant surprise to find parking in front of the property for free (with a card from reception) but perhaps wouldn’t be possible in the high season. Also was surprised to get breakfast at the property as we thought it was room only - it was more of a snack but if you don’t need a cooked breakfast, all you’d need - and you can have it delivered to your room if you like.
Rooms a little small - but with everything you need. Property could be probably feel more comfortable if there wasn’t so much of a focus on antique furniture - something the U.K. hotels do better is being able to highlight and celebrate the antiquity of a house but with modern comfort: it doesn’t need to be one or the other. The room for guests with armchairs etc downstairs was a bit pointless really as smelt of damp etc so didn’t want to spend time there!

Most wonderful, hospitable experience I have ever had. The staff (Abigail and Richard) were so welcoming and accommodating. We loved our room in the carriage house which overlooked the garden. The house was gorgeous, we especially loved the winding staircase and library. We enjoyed the cheese hour and breakfast brought to our rooms, as well as access to drinks in the cafe. 20 S Battery is the perfect stay for a romantic getaway! I can’t wait until our next stay here.
N/A, everything was wonderful!

We loved the location it was a 15 minute walk to the center of town , lounge area in the lobby was absolutely beautiful with antique furniture. The dining room was delightful every morning for breakfast listening to Frank Sinatra and all my old time favorites. On the first floor there was a keurig coffee machine ,complimentary soda ,water and tea with a microwave. Every thing exceeded are expectations ,it had all the conforts of home .Also the complimentary toiletries were nice .We will definitely be back here in the near future .
Doors were kind of tricky .

The house was lovely. We always stay at "character" properties and greatly enjoyed the historical details maintained at 20 South Battery
The Pringle Suite was beautiful, and obviously had some last minute renovations, which included new paint- because the painter's tape remained on the back of the toilet for our entire stay. The shower included a modification to protect the window from water, but left a dust-filled gap that was not attractive to look at. The shower controls were also impossible to operate without getting sprayed with cold water. We also felt bad a few times when the single staff-person was trying to juggle too many duties at once.

Where to begin! We were wowed when we walked into the hotel. The décor and the furnishings were amazing. The staff exceeded our expectations well beyond what we have experienced in many other 4 and 5 star hotels. Breakfast was good and the wine & cheese evening was a great bonus. Our room was comfortable, tidy and well equipped.
I really can't think of anything - this was an exceptional stay!

The house was beautiful and the staff so pleasant and accommodating. Wine and cheese on the piazza was a great way to enjoy the afternoon.
When I booked our room I was under the impression that this was a Bed n Breakfast but looking at the current listing, it's called a boutique hotel and I don't see anything about it serving breakfast. My one comment was going to be about the breakfast. It was tasty but sourced from a bakery and not what I was expecting from a "Bed n Breakfast " type setting. Seems like the boutique hotel is a better description.

Hotel full of charm and History, ideally located in Charleston's old town Our spacious suite in the main building had a stunning view and beautiful furniture. Abigail has been very friendly and helpful, providing us with lots of information and restaurant recommendations.
The breakfast menu is ok but might benefit from additional options such as muesli, eggs, croissants and green tea....

Beautiful Property and location. This historic property has been beautifully restored. There is an abundance of historic decor inside, as well as very nice outdoor spaces including the large front porch that overlooks Battery Park, and a lovely backyard with gardens and a sitting area. It was very quiet at night. The staff is extremely hospitable and welcoming. Short walk to downtown Charleston.

The most amazing experience. The house is exquisite, and the wonder is kind enough to let you wander así if it was your own. Have breakfast in the dining room, read a book in the library, cocktails in the ball room. Impossible not to get the feel of the historic charming south!!’ And the staff is beyond words, friendly and on top of every detail. You couldn’t ask for more. Thank you, thank you!!!!
