Let's start with the location. The location is in the most central part of Ljubljana, right in bustling street, opposite of National Bank of Slovenia, famous stores like Zara, Mango, small shopping mall ''NAMA'', restaurants and etc. Absolutely convenient. At the ground floor of the hotel there is lounge bar Zvezda which immediately became our favorite spot for drinking coffee and having a delicious dessert. The reception is looking really modern and stylish and you can also store your luggage with a tag number which was super convenient for us. I can say with full confidence that Slon offers one of the best breakfasts in the hotel that I have ever experienced. Large variety of savory and sweet options which are constantly replenished by the staff.

You can get a wrong impression when you see that ground floor (restaurant and reception) are totally renewed and modern comparing to rooms and corridors. The rooms are slightly outdated but nothing that affected our stay by any means, but still it should be considered as it is rated as 4 star hotel.

We stayed for 5 nights. There was a toy elephant on the bed in the room when we arrived. I understood this was a gift which, on leaving, I took home for my granddaughter. I was disgusted when a separate €15 charge appeared on my credit card bill some days after checkout. This is a COMPLETE RIPOFF. Not the €15 cost but the fact there is no information with the toy to indicate there is a charge. Take these toys out of the rooms or clearly state that there is a €15 charge. Really disappointed with this sneaky charge by Hotel Slon.

Convenient, safe location on local bus routes and close to the famous bridge. Easy walk to the location where many day tours start. Delicious breakfast buffet. Nice clean, quiet room. Super helpful and friendly staff who told me about the easy bus to the local zoo, which I enjoyed very much! Enjoyed the day tours to Lake Bled & Castle, Postojna Caves & Castle, Lipica Stud Farm to watch the Lipizzaner horses perform, Piran (coastal town), etc. Several local museums and short boat cruise on the river were all excellent. Open Kitchen outdoor food booths (on Fridays) was fun. Plenty of tourists already in mid-April. Ljubljana is a lovely small city (not overwhelming for a solo female). I was able to walk from the bus station in the north end of the city to the hotel.

The location is simply the best. You can easily walk to pretty much anywhere from there, either for sightseeing, drinks, or just to grab something to eat. The bar of the hotel is nice too, the staff is kind and the meal options delicious. The room has decent space, although the shower was a little small for me based on my room selection, good nonetheless. I used the wet/dry sauna a lot, great options to relax after a long day. Just bear in mind it can get crowded at times. There is an elephant plushie on every bed you can buy if you wish (the history behind it is interesting). And if it's raining, there is an umbrella you can use during your stay. All in all, the amenities, the location, and the staff made it a great experience.

It is not necessarily a bad thing, but as some have mentioned, the hotel is going through renovations (probably for a while). The hotel has some history and time, and despite the sporadic noise, it is nice to see they are putting extra effort in modernizing their facilities.

The room was spacious and comfortable, a good place to return to The hotel is in a perfect location for all attractions and within easy reach of the railway station The choice and quality of the breakfast was excellent. Service was calmly efficient, as elsewhere in the hotel. Friendly and helpful

It’s just a minor point, but the hotel is undergoing refurbishment and, although it was managed well, I think guests should have been informed beforehand. The noise from the works was particularly noticeable at first floor level, but could be heard elsewhere. It didn’t bother us, it could have impacted on some people’s stay

The hotel is in a very central location and within walking distance to all the main attractions in Ljubljana. The breakfast was extensive, with a great variety to choose from, and the breakfast area was very spacious. The room was comfortable and had all the amenities you could need for a short stay.

The hotel is a bit like a construction site at the moment (March 2025), and I can understand why as it does feel very dated in some parts of the hotel, so it’s good to see that it is being done up, but it can get pretty noisy in the mornings when they start work.

The hotel is beautiful, staff very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was fantastic. Very central so perfect for visiting the city. Just read carefully the instructions if you come by car because it is in a pedestrian zone.

I was surprised to find that even if we booked for 2 adults and 1 child (10 yo) there was only one bed... To be fair, i noticed later that it was stated that the extra bed need to be required (and payed 30€). Also i have to say that we did not complain because we were tired and just wanted to sleep, i'm sure the staff would sort out this problem considering how nice everyone is. So it is our fault, but it's still weird that there is only one bed for 2 adults and a child. In conclusion: i recommend this Hotel, no doubt.

Excellent location and great breakfast with a large variety of different options. The hotel has 2 saunas and a gym which are quite relaxing & quiet. The staff was friendly & helpful.

The room quality needs to be improved. The windows have poor isolation therefore street sounds were quite loud. No smart tv, makes the TV quite useless unless you enjoy local networks. Breakfast lacked vegan food options and milk alternatives. As this was my 3rd or 4th stay here, I would appreciate some sort of follow up system as this time the room was the worst yet. Shower was positioned very badly with the bath which was clogged from the time we moved in.

All staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location, near historical sites, stores and places to go out eat or drink. Breakfast was diverse and good quality. The mini bar was plentiful and all that you should know about the room and stay was written on various fliers and posters in the room and halls.

It was hard to manage temperature in the room with a manual knob without temperature markings. Lights were fluorescent bulbs so it took some time for them to get to needed intensity which is not that big of a deal. Hotel is doing renovation so that may change in the future.

Location is absolutely top (3min walk to Preseren square but also close to Tivoli and outer part of city centre). Breakfast has a really, really wide range of food offered. Hotel has very nice interior and we did like the story of hotel (Elephant keep taking care of us on further travel ;)) Bed was super comfy!

To my taste, too strong AC in the breakfast area, but I get that you can't meet every person's desire in this regard. Although we get a free upgrade to superior room (for which I am 100% grateful!), i need to mention strong noise from inner courtyard. Service on windows insulation might help to mitigate this.
