Let's start with the location. The location is in the most central part of Ljubljana, right in bustling street, opposite of National Bank of Slovenia, famous stores like Zara, Mango, small shopping mall ''NAMA'', restaurants and etc. Absolutely convenient. At the ground floor of the hotel there is lounge bar Zvezda which immediately became our favorite spot for drinking coffee and having a delicious dessert. The reception is looking really modern and stylish and you can also store your luggage with a tag number which was super convenient for us. I can say with full confidence that Slon offers one of the best breakfasts in the hotel that I have ever experienced. Large variety of savory and sweet options which are constantly replenished by the staff.

You can get a wrong impression when you see that ground floor (restaurant and reception) are totally renewed and modern comparing to rooms and corridors. The rooms are slightly outdated but nothing that affected our stay by any means, but still it should be considered as it is rated as 4 star hotel.

The staff are exceptional! While the room, comfort, cleanliness - all get full points, the staff get the platinum star. Here is why: Unfortunately, I got pickpocketed at the Zara right opposite the hotel. I lost my passport, my wallet, IDs, etc. I went to the front desk to get a copy of the police report and from that point on, the entire staff was nothing but exceptional. From changing my room with a landline (the Embassy would only call on the Landline), to Misha who walked with me three times to the Western Union to collect money my family has wired, to their Boss helping me talk in the local language with folks at the Embassy....I could go on and on. And here is the other touching and unbelievable: Misha gave me 50 euros from his wallet to help tide me over while we were trying to figure out the Western Union process (without a physical ID one cannot get the case wired, and the only ID I had was on the phone, which of course, was not acceptable). I was only a guest at the hotel and yet he did this kind deed! I will never forget his kindness.

Nothing to do with the hotel - but getting pickpocketed in one of the safest country in Europe was not a great experience.

We stayed for 5 nights. There was a toy elephant on the bed in the room when we arrived. I understood this was a gift which, on leaving, I took home for my granddaughter. I was disgusted when a separate €15 charge appeared on my credit card bill some days after checkout. This is a COMPLETE RIPOFF. Not the €15 cost but the fact there is no information with the toy to indicate there is a charge. Take these toys out of the rooms or clearly state that there is a €15 charge. Really disappointed with this sneaky charge by Hotel Slon.

Convenient, safe location on local bus routes and close to the famous bridge. Easy walk to the location where many day tours start. Delicious breakfast buffet. Nice clean, quiet room. Super helpful and friendly staff who told me about the easy bus to the local zoo, which I enjoyed very much! Enjoyed the day tours to Lake Bled & Castle, Postojna Caves & Castle, Lipica Stud Farm to watch the Lipizzaner horses perform, Piran (coastal town), etc. Several local museums and short boat cruise on the river were all excellent. Open Kitchen outdoor food booths (on Fridays) was fun. Plenty of tourists already in mid-April. Ljubljana is a lovely small city (not overwhelming for a solo female). I was able to walk from the bus station in the north end of the city to the hotel.

Hotel is situated in very interesting area of Ljubljana. Large, very clean air-conditioned room in a very nice hotel with car park facility. Very friendly staff and breakfast offered a very well run restaurant with a huge selection to suit the most fussy palate. Area around the hotel is vibrant with lots to see in a very friendly city. Restaurants along the Ljubljanica offered wide range of food and service was very good everywhere visited. Loved the friendliness of the people in Ljubljana and look forward to visiting again.

Hotel is in the process of some renovation which can be noisy during the day.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Slon in Ljubljana! 🌟 The location is perfect - everything is within walking distance. The room was cozy and clean, and the staff were kind and helpful. Breakfast was a real highlight - delicious, fresh, and with a great variety. Highly recommended! We’d definitely stay here again on our next visit to Ljubljana.

Although the rooms were cozy, they were quite small. We had two rooms, and in one of them, the shower was not very convenient — it had a high edge, which made it difficult to bathe small children and could be uncomfortable for people with mobility issues.

Excellent location at the main street, in pedestrian/calm traffic area, just few steps from the Old Town and Dragon Bridge. Abundant and diverse breakfast. Spacious rooms with comfy beds, nice cosmetics set in the bathroom. The hotel arranges parking for your car (paid) - valet service (just inform them what time you'd need your car back - it will be waiting for you at the entrance). Sauna and massages available.

Some corridors were under refurbishement (March 2025), but it seemed temporary only.

The location is simply the best. You can easily walk to pretty much anywhere from there, either for sightseeing, drinks, or just to grab something to eat. The bar of the hotel is nice too, the staff is kind and the meal options delicious. The room has decent space, although the shower was a little small for me based on my room selection, good nonetheless. I used the wet/dry sauna a lot, great options to relax after a long day. Just bear in mind it can get crowded at times. There is an elephant plushie on every bed you can buy if you wish (the history behind it is interesting). And if it's raining, there is an umbrella you can use during your stay. All in all, the amenities, the location, and the staff made it a great experience.

It is not necessarily a bad thing, but as some have mentioned, the hotel is going through renovations (probably for a while). The hotel has some history and time, and despite the sporadic noise, it is nice to see they are putting extra effort in modernizing their facilities.

I booked the wrong dates by accident, and didn’t realise until just before our holiday. The hotel rebooked us to the correct dates without extra charge at such short notice despite my non refundable terms. It was hugely helpful. The outside temperatures reached 37 degrees, but the air conditioning was very refreshing in the room. Bed is supremely comfortable. They should have a qr code to scan where you can order the same bed mattress. I want one! Shower gels, and hand wash were very fragrant. Breakfast was very nicely laid out, plenty of choices, lots of natural daylight and lovely tableware. Despite our room facing the street on one stay, the noise levels in the room allowed for a good nights sleep.

Poor ventilation in the bathroom. Air extraction was poor. Having a “shower over bath” arrangement is neither stylish, convenient or safe. I prefer walk in shower enclosures.

Location great, just a few minute walk to the old town part of the city. Bed was very comfortable. Hotel is very clean. Breakfast was delicious. I asked for an upgrade as I had thought I had booked a bigger room (I was wrong) and I got the upgrade anyway so I am very grateful to the manager for that as it really made my stay even more enjoyable. Staff are so friendly and attentive. The rooms are quite old but there are renovations going on at the moment so that will change at some point. Very noisy construction work during the day but that cannot be a fault as it's part of the renovations, and the day is for being out of the hotel and in the city!
