The location of the hotel, breakfast, and the room were amazing. The quality of the linen bed, and the mattress was beyond my expectations. Honestly, I was not expecting such a good breakfast. Truly awesome. I had a problem with my door-locking device and the staff fixed immediately. Shout out to Robert for ordering a sandwich for me at the checkout, because I had to leave before the breakfast hour. Amazing staff indeed.

I consider that the acoustic insulation from the room I've stayed in (5th floor) was pretty bad. You could hear people's conversation on the upper floor. Fortunately, people respected the quiet hours, but still, this is something that should be addressed considering how much you're paying.

Breakfast was incredible. So much variety and always enough of everything. Main tour companies have their pick up point outside the hotel. It’s a 5 minute walk to old town. Free drinks if you request staff not to make your room up.

Warm welcome on arrival. Friendly staff throughout our visit at all points of contact. Stayed 7 nights and had selected a comfort room on 4th floor - well worth the extra cost - lovely sofa and a large room! The pillow menu on offer was very good and I found a pillow to suit me perfectly - a very welcome gesture. Extensive breakfast options and although we were there for a week I never got bored of the food. The bar area was nice, well staffed and I enjoyed foregoing room service some days to the benefit of a complimentary drink in the evening. Hired a car for a number of days and easy parking on site (20 Euro per night). Location of the hotel is excellent in every respect. A large, busy but well run hotel that works - I do not hesitate in recommending this to other booking.com customers.

Perhaps the only downside was the volume of traffic at breakfast - this is a busy hotel especially at breakfast time but it works efficiently. Take time to orientate yourself with the breakfast layout then get stuck in!

- The location was perfect, between the bus station and the old town, with options to eat on the same street, an ATM that doesn’t charge and a supermarket 2 min walk away. - The very friendly and efficient reception staff allowed me earlier check in and very kindly upgraded my room. - The bar/lobby was good value for money (food and drink) with lovely staff - The hotel offered the terrific incentive of a free drink every day you don’t request for your room to be cleaned - Shuttle to airport excellent value at €13 - Left luggage very secure - Bed very comfortable, good for my back - The breakfast was the best variety spread I have encountered in a non-resort hotel (and I’ve been to a lot!): 3 coffee machines so no bottlenecking, plenty of different fruits, salads, juices, meats, cheeses, breads (eg flatbreads), cooked options, desserts, pastries, local Slovenian produce eg honey, granola, homemade jams etc etc

If I’m being picky… - I didn’t realise until arrival that there are no bathrobe and slippers supplied (I hadn’t packed this as a 3rd party website said there was!) - Same with an iron - Kettle is slow and could probably do with being replaced with an espresso machine (ideally!) - The vanity kit had nail file, cotton buds and a couple of cotton pads-probably not much use, a shower cap would be useful.

Very good breakfast with a nice variety (although crowded).

City Hotel Ljubljana is well-located and we enjoyed our stay here, but it started off badly. We arrived to an unfriendly front desk clerk. We were early and not surprisingly our room was not ready, so we checked our bags with the hotel, wandered around Ljubljana, and had lunch. The welcome to City Hotel had been so cold (bordering on downright rude) that we spent time looking on-line for other hotels. When we returned and checked in, the staff at the front desk was perfectly professional and helpful with directions and suggestions. After that we enjoyed our stay at City Hotel Ljubljana.

I would highly recommend this hotel. We stayed in room 408 which was spacious and quiet with a balcony and a lovely view looking at the castle. A complimentary carton of water was provided on the first day. There were slippers, bathrobes, an umbrella, mini fridge, tea/coffee maker in the room (but no iron - but you could probably borrow one). The bed/pillows were so comfy. The location was absolutely perfect to walk all over the beautiful historic area on foot (we didn’t have a car, nor did we need one). The hotel can arrange day trips for you and they are well worth it as the surrounding countryside/Lakes are all breathtaking and should not be missed. There is a huge choice of restaurants/cafés/shops/historical sites all within a few walking steps from the hotel. The beautiful Tivoli gardens are also just a short walk from the hotel (about 20 minutes on foot). We also walked to the Aleja shopping centre (as we like walking, but took a bus back - which was easy). The hotel has a « green » policy, whereby whenever you don’t have your room serviced you will receive a complimentary drink in their bar. The breakfast buffet had a great choice of hot and cold and some Slovenia choices and the staff efficiently replenish the empty dishes very quickly.

Sometimes the free wifi was a bit temperamental in room 408 !

Great and polite staff, helped us prolongue our stay even though our room was not vacant. Many thanks to Jernej and the Front desk manager. There is a possibility to save environment and help the maids by choosing free drinks in exchange for room cleaning for that day. We used it frequently and it turned out well. The location is prime, additional parking is covered with cameras right next to the hotel just accrros the street. Breakfast is pretty much the same each day, but has all the necessities and tastes covered. The food is fresh and tasty. The room was very cosy, easy to navigate cooling system, nice view of the city.

Not really a minus, but a swimming pool would come perfect

Great location, close to everything. Nice room with a balcony, large comfortable bed. The staff was very nice. My wife and I speak English, a fair amount of Spanish and some French and Italian but when we got to Slovenia we realized we had didn't understand any Slovenian at all, but thankfully all of the staff at this hotel spoke excellent English and this was a big relief because it made it easy for my wife to communicate her dietary needs as she is celiac and cannot have gluten. Great stay and a good hotel.

It wasn't clear to us how to reserve parking, not a big deal, we found underground parking that was a 5 minute walk away. Booking and the hotels need to clarify what guests need to do to reserve parking because it's discouraging when you show up to a hotel you've already paid for to find out they don't have a parking spot for you.

We arrived by car and easily accessed the car park, having pre booked our parking space. The room was large, clean, full of light, well air conditioned and very comfortable. It is located very close to the city centre. The buffet breakfast, which is included in the price, has a good choice and includes dietary requirements. We were allowed flexibility to take our breakfast in the breakfast area or on the terrace. On the terrace the options are limited, however, one can choose items from the main breakfast area and take up the relative plate etc to the terrace. The Staff were very friendly, helpful and prompt. We needed an ironing board and iron and they brought them to our room immediately.

The hotel was very well located about 10 mins maximum from most of the areas we wanted to see/visit. It was really comfortable and clean. We had a corner room on the first floor with a really comfortable bed and great shower. It was quiet as well despite being busy. The buffet breakfast was also delicious with lots of choice. The staff were all really helpful and friendly. We also like the fact that the hotel is trying to be environmentally sustainable and they had a great scheme to reward guests if they didn’t have their room cleaned every day which is brilliant.
