The location overlooking the beach was stunning! You could hear the waves from the bed and it made it a really peaceful stay. Breakfast was included and the hot buffet really added value to the price of a night's stay. I made a special request to have a bottle of champagne in the room on arrival and the staff were really helpful and prompt in their communication. The studio room was very spacious and comfortable and the meal in the onsite restaurant was excellent.

There was nothing wrong with the stay, however I think the resort would benefit from a pool. For the days when it's too cold to swim at the beach!

Everything! The villa was clean, well stocked, lots of towels, beautiful scenery from every room, just everything was awesome and clean. A weird thing I loved was the fact there was not one sign to tell you to either clean up after yourself, instructions on how to use anything, where to put recycling, what to do when you leave, not to use the heating for too long, not anything, I would have expected one "obvious" sign around but there wasn't any, this tells me castaways just want you to enjoy yourself and not be anal about how to keep a place clean or where to put things, I just loved that. I will definitely be recommending to family. It was also excellent value for money! Thank you, castaways you made my birthday very memorable.

Wow! What a truly stunning location. The views from our chalet were breathtaking. The chalet itself felt large and we had everything we needed. Everything was lovely and clean. The option to have the beds split into 2 singles in each room, was very appreciated. The reception staff were incredibly polite and friendly. We really loved our stay.

It wasn't immediately clear that the drinks in the full size fridge were 'mini-bar'. I found a menu on the sideboard.....but it would have been a lot clearer if the sign was on the fridge itself. Luckily I stopped my kids before they opened anything haha.

We’ve had two stays. First we stayed in a chalet. The second in one of the villas For the chalets you can park your own car right by the chalet, which is handy. The view is fantastic. The villas are new and lovely. The breakfasts are great and staff very helpful

The chalet is showing its age with, gaps in the window frames, allowing drafts in, plus the noise of wind and surf,and other items in need of some maintenance. When we stayed in a villa, we had booked and had booked a two bedroom, two bathroom villa, but were actually given the two bedroom side of a three bedroom villa, so the second bedroom did not have the sea view we were expecting 😕 and there was only one bathroom. We knew we wouldn’t be able to park the car by the villa and it was OK, but not great Some people were booked into the one bedroom side of the same 3 bed unit, they smoked on the deck which meant we had to retreat indoors. When we arrived the WiFi wasn’t working. Someone came and fixed it, but clearly that’s a recurring issue because of the isolation.

Villas are amazing; modern, full amenities, spacious, fantastic views. Proximity to Auckland is very convenient. Spa was a wonderful experience. Breakfast was very good. Views are spectacular. Great place to chill after a long flight. Wonderful restaurant in town.

Hard place to be without a car; very hilly and booking/getting a shuttle around the resort was difficult. Staff wasn’t knowledgeable about rides to town; options were limited. No fitness facility. Walking paths were hard to find and not well marked. No place to purchase limited food and beverage items like wine and milk. Dinner needs better staffing.

The Villas are lovely, the staff really friendly and helpful. The view is fabulous. Restaurant food was lovely too.

Loved the golf carts, however if you are using the facilities at Castaways like the restaurant or Spa we were told by reception that we are to go back to the carpark to drive to the facilities...we wanted to have a drink before dinner at our villa enjoying the view and then a few with dinner. Drinking and driving no matter where is not to be encouraged and would be nice to be delivered safely bank to our accommodation.

The room was outstanding.. room 89- 1bdrm villa. The views were breathtaking! The room was clean & had everything we needed.. we slept with bifolds open all night & listened to the waves crashing & the smell of sea air filled the room..Bliss! Parking was just up the hill if you didn't mind a wee walk..or the cart picked you up to run you to your car or restaurant. Driver lovely & friendly. Very private which was exactly what we wanted.

The restaurant let the place down. Food was standard & some of mine was cold & inedible. $48 for 2 way lamb which was chewy & vegetables(beans & peas) were overcooked. The buffet breakfast looked promising the next day however, no teabags were available (only flavored ones) & everything was cold..shame really because the venue itself was really lovely.

Beautiful location, and beautiful resort, breathtaking panorama, an excellent getaway place. Restaurant good, amazing panorama. Beach is a minute walk away. You are really by the coast can hear the waves.

The rooms were clean, but windows, and corners, and kitchenware were not properly cleaned. This resort could be a 5 star resort with better cleaning, better equipment (kitchenware is really not sufficient), and breakfast could be much better (coffee would be an expected thing, I mean they provided instant powder coffee and hot water.) Blackout curtains would be appreciated.

The location and views were spectacular The waiter "Hans" was so friendly and attentive Our room was comfortable and well eqipped

The cocktails were pre made, for the money, I would expect them to be made from scratch. Perhaps one staff member could be trained to make real cocktails. When I booked, I requested a table next to the window for dinner, I received confirmation of this however when we returned up noone seemed to know anything about it, which was a pity. The reason I did this was because it was a special occasion, and I wanted to add these little touches.

Very disappointed with the cleanliness of kitchen crockery & cutlery in fact some plates had food left from previous guests. Had to put most kitchen items through a wash? Condition of wardrobes in rooms. All weathered and looking very tatty. Spare blanket was full of stains Lack of robes and bath towels. Ironing board is in a terrible condition. Bathroom door needs cleaning and much more detail needs to be taken in the cleaning area.
