I would like to buy whichever algorithm suggested The Old Parsonage as a base for a five day tour around Somerset a pint, because it was an inspired choice. Once you have finished feasting your eyes on the fascinating Queen Anne style exterior you enter a property that has been tastefully furnished with furniture lovingly curated by your hosts, each room is unique and exudes its own charm and style. James looked after us during our stay, and you couldn't wish for a more friendly, helpful and accommodating host. We stayed in 'Edward' which despite being within a hundred yards of a main road was quiet, the room was perfectly furnished with plenty of storage space and a bed that sent me to sleep in minutes. Breakfasts were as good as everybody else has noted and James makes a mean bacon sandwich. The host family have worked hard at creating something special and I wouldn't hesitate recommending it for a stay. It is perfectly placed for Bristol, Bath, Wells and so many other places. James suggested the frequent bus service to Bristol and for £3 each way per person the views from the top deck simply couldn't be seen or beaten from a car.

The Old Parsonage is a professionally run and thoughtfully maintained B&B. We stayed in the Edward Room, set within a beautiful 17th-century building. The host, James, has created a perfect balance between the charm of the historic setting and the comfort of modern amenities. No detail has been overlooked. James himself is welcoming and engaging — a real pleasure to chat with. Breakfast, which is always a key part of our stay, was spot on. The full English vegetarian breakfast was a standout — delicious and satisfying. There was also fresh fruit, granola, toast, juice, and more, all beautifully presented in the atmospheric 300-year-old dining room. The modern bathroom, though located just across a corridor, was exclusively ours. It was well equipped with quality cleansing products, and robes were thoughtfully provided for the short journey across the hall. The property is surrounded by walled gardens, which we were welcome to enjoy. Thank you, James, for a truly lovely stay — and for your patience when I incompetently entered our arrival time as 3 a.m. instead of 3 p.m.!

Sadly a relatively busy road passes the property but everything has been done to minimise the road noise in the room and for us was of no concern.

Beautiful historic manor furnished with tasteful antiques. Our room was very warm and relaxing. The bath is modern and immaculate. The parlor and dining room were bright and cozy with wonderful treasures to explore. We enjoyed spending time reading and conversing there. James was very friendly and gracious, offering information, history and advice on how to explore the surrounding area. The breakfast was tremendous. The garden was beautiful. The location is excellent on a dead end just slightly off the main road, short steps to a great pub, and proximal to Bath, Wells, Glastonbury, and countless beautiful villages, historic and ancient sites, and the beautiful countryside.

I didn't like leaving.

Location was lovely. We stayed in the Nook which was very clean and had everything we needed. It also had a lovely comfy bed with really nice bedding and pillows. The shower was lovely with great water pressure. Owner was very friendly and helpful.

The only down side I found was that check in was too late (between 5-9pm). There was the option to get an earlier check in and later check out at an additional cost which I found a little unusual. We travel often and most places check in is from 3 and check out is 11. Wasn’t the end of the world but worth noting.

The place is beautiful and has everything you might need. It’s cozy, comfortable, and visually charming — in my opinion, it has everything one could look for in this area. The vibe is super positive and relaxed: the perfect pause in a road trip, especially if you’ve been driving. What really made the experience even better was the host — incredibly kind, attentive, quick to help, and genuinely welcoming. And to top it all off, we got to meet the house puppy, who absolutely made our day and turned this stop into our favorite one on the journey

Location was really good, my wedding venue was only a 20 minute drive away. We stayed in the stables opposite the main house, it had a homelike feel to it. Very cosy, very clean and had all the amenities we needed. Extra perks that there was a bathroom upstairs and downstairs! So no hogging for anyone. James rang a few hours prior to check in to make sure we were good and allowed us to self check in as we were coming in a little late. I didn't get to meet James myself but one of my bridesmaids who dropped the key off said he was very kind and accommodating.

It's not a fault to the accommodation at all. There is a beautiful beam that goes across the top room upstairs. Guest just have to be slightly wary not to walk into it or walk up and hit there heads

We were welcomed very warmly, James is a very kind host. The studio we stayed in had everything we needed (tea and coffee-supplies and even some cereals). It was really cozy and lovingly furnished. The beautiful town of Wells is just a few-minutes-drive away and you can also easily reach Bath or Bristol if you want. Only a short walk away from The Old Parsonage there is a pub with very good food and vis-à-vis there is a small shop where you can find everything you might need. Also, Somerset has a very lovely landscape where you can take nice walks.

Nice setting friendly host who made us feel welcome. Plenty of hot water with good shower pressure and thick fluffy towels. Very comfy bed

TV signal very intermittent especially BBC channels. Very high window open, rather draughty as weather not so warm. Would be better without rug on floor as detracts from otherwise pleasant decor

Excellent easy-to-find attractive location with secure parking. The studio is compact but well laid out, with separate sleeping, bathing, cooking and relaxing areas. Comfortable bed with top quality bedding. Kitchen equipment kept to a minimum but it is not intended for elaborate cooking. There are good restaurants nearby.

Struggled to regulate the bathroom tap, a design we've not encountered before. One of the rings on the induction hob wasn't working.

Self catering : very clean, comfortable, really nice facilities (bathroom, kitchen), plenty of parking, very nice shower! We were made to feel very welcome. Milk in the fridge, some tea and coffee. Location good, co-op very close, petrol station close. Plenty to do and see in the area. We had a very nice stay.

Just comments, not criticisms: bed too short for tall husband, so wife had to sleep on the settee (it was very comfortable, so no problems, no suggestion that places should cater for people's height!). The bathroom could do with a chair/ stool to put clothing on rather than having to put it on the toilet. All very minor.
