this was our favorite place on a weeklong trip.. food was great (pub food) and breakfast was the best of the trip too, and included with the room. Nice road to walk along in the morning. Nice atmosphere hanging out and eating and drinking pints in the pub ... all very friendly locals nicest people you could meet. We were welcomed warmly by the guy behind the bar on arrival. Tip would be pay your restaurant bill for your room the night before you leave. Parking was invariably right out front for us. Most patrons must walk to the pub (real locals)

Its a very old building but thats what you want.. well its what I wanted in staying in an old pub ... it was very nicely refurbished - clean comfortable rooms with a nice window overlooking the street... The bathroom was redone and clean and very efficient ... again very old pub so I wouldn't say didn't like I'd say I loved it.

Gorgeous food, lovely staff and vibe

It was stinking hot with no fan in the room. Forced to open window onto a busy, noisy, dirty, dusty road. Zero sleep. The place is wonderful, staff and food are wonderful. Just a shame our room hung over the main road as with the street lights, car noise and heat, it was the worst night's sleep of the whole holiday. Well worth a visit, just make sure to ask for a room at the back of the pub if it's warm or to be provided with a fan.

First and foremost, the food. Delightful and very good value. The pizza was delicious, thin and crispy and tasted very fresh. The breakfast options were very good as well. The staff were welcoming, and very hard working. Lovely aesthetic. The location was ideal for Longleat, which was our reason for visiting. Bar was lively in the evening, and dog friendly which suited us dog lovers perfectly. Even though the bar was lively, it was still quiet enough to go to our room and rest comfortably.

The only dislike we had was the bed itself and the floor in the room were incredibly creaky. Being a heavier person, I moved the floor when I walked and it was loud as well. The floor moved so much, I knocked over the mirror on the dressing table. The bed was loud every time we moved at night, which disturbed sleep somewhat. Only issue the whole stay.

I was recommended the venue by colleagues local to the area and wasn't disappointed. From the welcome on entrance to the check out could not fault the whole experience and the friendliness of the staff. The pub is an old stone property and full of character with a mixture of old and modern. It was sunny and I sat outside whilst waiting for my colleague, they noticed that my drink was finished and came out and asked if I would like another and brought it out to me. The bedroom was lovely, down pillows and quilt, which I am a huge fan of and a super comfortable bed. Super fluffy towels for the bathroom. A good selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the bedroom with biscuits. I ate with a colleague in the restaurant in the evening and the burger and fries were excellent although when I saw the pizzas that were coming out of the kitchen, wish I was really hungry to have one of those too. A good selection of breakfast options and I chose the crushed avocado on toast with sundried tomatoes, 2 poached eggs and spinach and was one of best cooked options I have had. If I have the opportunity to be on business in the area again, I will definitely stay at the Oakhill Inn again.

We had a good stay at the Oakhill Inn in a dog-friendly room which had plenty of space for us all - and the whole of the pub was accessible to our dog which made our stay more relaxing. The staff were all very friendly and the breakfasts were very good too. We chose to eat in the pub on two evenings over our stay and on both occasions enjoyed an excellent meal.

Our ensuite bathroom was clean and perfectly adequate however it was very tired and careworn. Another bathroom was being replaced so it is possible that this will be the intention for this one too. The stairway was a bit grimy but with workmen in and out, this may be understandable.

Breakfast was excellent, wide choice, quality ingredients and very well cooked. Good variety of pillows, good toiletries, comfortable bed. The staff were quite superb, nothing was too much trouble and they struck an appealing balance between courteousness and friendliness. They were helpful regarding local info. Food in the restaurant was good but pricey, the beer was reasonably priced and very satisfying. The bus stop to Shepton, Wells is just outside.

Personally, I didn't like the forms for ordering things like teabags, milk etc, though I could see that pre-ordering breakfast was practical. The en suite in room 4 is cramped and would benefit from shelving to stick one's washbag, toothpaste etc on. The carpark is up the road and easy to miss when you arrive, parking outside the pub is tight and limited.

The food, both breakfast and evening meals were top class, this made up for the slightly lack lustre room and made the price still competitive. The staff were lovely and service was very good. The pub was cosy with sofas round a wood burner for relaxing in the evening.

The room was not quite what I was expecting from the booking photographs. We were in room 4 which I now realise is the lower end of what is on offer. The bathroom was tiny and in need of an upgrade, the bed was also small (not quite double size) but the bed and pillows were very comfy, which is the main thing! Overall this room needs a spruce up.

A little quirky old coaching inn obviously loved by the locals. It had an olde world charm with all mod-cons. Staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for you. One drawback was parking as all spaces in their small car park were taken when we arrived. Although was able to move the car off the road and safely into the car park before retiring to our very comfy bed. Breakfast was included and was delicious and freshly cooked with a good selection to choose from.

Just the lack of parking as stated.

A fabulous place to stay and dine. The owner was exceptional - very friendly and wonderfully helpful. The pub itself is just lovely. The room was immaculately clean, cosy and comfortable - equipped with everything we needed. The beer garden was fantastic and restaurant lovely and very traditional. The food was delicious and good value - both breakfast and evening dinner. The pub itself is in a great location (close to Wells) and very peaceful and quiet. Would definitely stay again. Many thanks.

Great place to stay, easy access and lovely staff. Very comfortable bed, room nicely decorated. Quirky old building with sloping floor! Good menu and superb food - I had a delicious home-made pork and leek pie with perfectly cooked vegetables. And the best breakfast ever! Smashed avocado with poached eggs on sourdough toast with baked tomato and rocket - amazing fresh ingredients. Enjoyed my stay, felt very well looked after.

Took me a while to find the car park as it’s just over the road. Some traffic but good double glazed sash windows keep the noise out.
