Travelled from the south coast to see my daughter and her new baby in Bristol. Wanted to visit Shelton mallet due to a series I’ve been watching and just loved the look of the town. Found this establishment and booked it for the night. Had issues with train delays so wasn’t going to get there till after 10pm when staff go home but bless her heart the girl stayed and waited late for us to arrive to give us the key with no problem at all. We arrived around 10,20pm and she was just lovely welcoming us and showed us our room. Value for money totally. Clean, really comfortable beds and linen and perfect for what we needed. Just sorry we couldn’t utilise the bar/restaurant as it didn’t open till 12.00 and we wanted to walk into Shepton for the market. Value for money for sure and would definately stay again

Stayed for family wedding...4 rooms Friendly helpful and accomodating manager. Flexibilty with Late check out was appreciated. Helied with racing numbers. Spacious room , long bath plenty of hot water. Helpful lady knocked next morning to ask we we wanted anything and provided us with more coffee and milk. Comfy bed. Pub too with food but we were at wedding so didn't use. Liked that hotel not just the standard layout, bit more quirky and individual rooms.

It had lots of parking for free, it had a pub attached, although food stopped being served at 19:45 and 20:00 respectively. Shower was great, bed was a bit wirery. A mattress protector would have solved that. 4 min drive from centre of Shpeton Mallet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lots to do in the area so a great base for historical tourism.

The bed could have been less wirey.

Convenient for the showground. Easy to find. Big car park. Friendly and helpful staff.

The evening meal was very welcome, but was basic with little flavour. On the first night we could hear what sounded like a dryer underneath us. It wasn't noisy the next night.

Shower Room Modern but small. Mattress Good.

Too many Stairs & Long Walk to Room. Mind your Head! Small room with little space to sort out Medication, Tablets and Insulin. Window Frames Rotten & No window catch to keep the Window open You need a Magnifying Glass to see the Tiny Flat TV!

The ambience was absolutely fabulous, the food presented was really tasty and value for money, the portions were great a really wholesome. Facilities in the highwayman were good, presented really well. Car parking was good and a good point to explore more of Somerset. A very enjoyable stay with friendly staff . The beds were comfortable. I will look forward to revisiting this hotel to see how things have progressed. Overall a nice place to stay.

We had a twin room the room itself was nice although definitely tired, cleanliness was ok although a little more attention to detail in room presentation would have made it more enjoyable. Although it was by a main trunk road, traffic noise was a factor till around 11pm and noise from the pub was also a factor but again everything settled at around 11pm. The lack of a breakfast on a morning was ok although maybe this will be considered at a later date to be offered.

Check in was fine and the room was excellent. It was a bit of a ramble to get to the room but no problem. The room was clean and tidy and the facilities very good.

It was a big disappointment that there was no breakfast offered

Room was great all features advertised worked well. warm welcoming atmosphere inside the pub and great food choice. Food ordered was cooked to exceedingly high standards. staff were friendly and polite. no problems in any part of the journey.

shower should have been tested before room was released as hose had split but this did not affect the pressure or use (Just a bit leaky) breakfast offering would have been nice but unsure if they offering this at present.

The staff were very helpful. The breakfast was excellent and the beds comfortable. Fans were provided to help with the extreme heat we experienced. Two of our party were late cancellations after testing positive for Covid and the management very kindly refunded the room charges.

We were there in a heatwave and despite fans the rooms were hot. Opening the windows helped but the pub is on a main road and it was noisy. It was further from the town of Shepton Mallet than we had anticipated but we had cars so could get to restaurants in the evening as the pub menu was very standard pub grub (although it looked good) and we wanted more options.

The room was very clean indeed the window was at the back of the property which was great because it was very quiet in the room. It’s a shame there was no breakfast.

I like the cleanliness of the line and comfortable bed.
