The hotel had a really relaxed, familiar and friendly atmosphere. It felt peaceful and calm and comforting. Views out of my window were lovely historic buildings in the village/town, the staff were friendly and there was a lovely shady beer garden. Good info provided in the room about local amenities and places to visit and a good menu. Would recommend for a gentle stay and explore of the area. Would go back again. It was the hottest day of the year when there but the room stayed relatively cool with stone walls, a good blind and sash window.

No hair dryer in the room is the only thing but it was far too hot to want one when I was there anyway!

We had the most wonderful stay at The Shrubbery! The location was perfect for our requirements. The room was clean, cosy and laid out very well. The bed was really comfortable. A lovely bathroom with a bath and powerful shower over it. The breakfast was great and excellent value for money, as was the bar! We loved sitting in the pretty and peaceful garden. Such wonderful and attentive staff - thank you, Debra and team! We very much look forward to our next visit to Shepton Mallet, and will be sure to stay here again :)

There was nothing to not like!

I absolutely loved this gem of a place. It is so quirky and full of charm. The owner is amazing. Debbie is friendly and goes the extra mile to make sure your stay is great. I had an evening meal which was tasty and the beef burger was homemade. Delicious. There's a good choice of breakfast as well. I had smoked salmon with scrambled egg one morning and a full English breakfast the next. Both delicious and nothing was too much trouble for Debbie. Thank you for looking after me and I will definitely stay here again if I return to Shepton Mallet.

Excellent location which I needed for visiting Shepton Mallet Hospital, just 20 min walk. Easy free parking, room basic & a bit tired but spotlessly clean & a comfortable bed. Good home cooking, breakfast included, lunch & dinner available at reasonable prices. Lounge, bar & garden to relax in. Small family hotel with friendly, helpful & flexible staff.

Nothing really. Paid the same for one person as for a couple but that's normal. A chair would have been nice in the room, although would have been a tight fit.

Good location for town centre, friendly staff and free car parking. Comfy bed and room was light and airy. Lunch was tasty, with large portions and it was hot and freshly made. Breakfast was included and that too was tasty and hot with a selection of cereals and juices to start. Quick service.

Room could do with a towel rail and a luggage stand. Blinds need to be darker for sleepers who don’t like bright light in the summer early hours. Carpeted toilet area will make cleaning trickier.

The hotel is in a good location, close to the town centre. The staff were friendly and the food was lovely at the hotel. Breakfast was plentiful. Ample parking. The only thing I would say is that the decor, hotel interior and bedrooms need a bit of TLC. The bathroom carpets need to be removed as not very hygienic. The bed was too soft for me but husband was fine with it so that is personal preference. Not much happening in Shepton Mallet itself but nearby Wells was lovely and worth a visit

Very friendly, family business vibe. Clean, fresh rooms. Tea/coffee/hot chocolate and biscuits. Very welcome.. Breakfast was lovely, good size and hot. Outside space in evening if you wanted a drink. Bar prices good. It had everything you could need. One of the best night's sleep I'd had away from home.

Not any dislikes but recommendation really. Furniture was a bit to big and bulky for the size of room, Big space under the eves for hanging and storage of luggage, then a huge tall chest of drawers with small TV high above it, probably better to have low chest to put tea making equipment on. Big dressing table with mirror but no stool or chair to sit at. Plug socket behind bed, so had to get behind to charge phone. Outside window big crack. Not anything that spoiled my stay though as I only stayed 1 night.

The Breakfast was a Full English / Cereal / a few other bits that were perfect for the morning start. The Staff were the making of the Hotel as they were lovely to talk to and informative about the area. The evening meal was lovely and meant that I did not need to go out of the hotel for a Pint and a good meal. The rear hotel garden is lovely to be in on a nice day.

The hotel is under relatively new ownership, so there are a number of plans in the pot to modernise the hotel a little, if you take this into consideration then the slightly dated decoration will not be a disappointment, as it is all clean and functioning, so not a issue really. Smart TV's would be a nice addition to add to the list as the current ones only show terrestrial channels and are a little small in the modern day. More people stream now days as well, but that can easily be resolved with a dongle which I will take with me on my next visit, as the WIFI is excellent and free so streaming should not be a problem.

Great location. Fantastic breakfast. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed with a selection of pillows. Good variety of tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room. Really quiet, had a great night’s sleep. Staff were fantastic. We were starving on arrival and ordered sandwiches, these were freshly made and delivered to our room, delicious!

If I’m being picky I couldn’t get the shower head to sit exactly where I wanted it. But it wasn’t a problem.

Exactly as expected, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good and reasonably priced. Nice that they provide some small bottles of shower gel, body lotion & soap and coffee/tea facilities in the room.

Took a while to get the shower (over the bath) to the right temperature and pressure wasn't great but it served a purpose and wasn't a major issue.
