April 2025

The Throckmorton has become a favourite stay of ours when visiting relatives in Redditch. It's got a lot going for it; a warm and welcoming pub with a good, ever-changing, menu, comfortable and well kitted-out rooms, quiet countryside just beyond the road that it's next to, and something we really love - a late served (and delicious) breakfast. This breakfast is one of the best we've had in the area, including Holiday Inn, Southcrest Manor, The Bell, etc, with fantastic pancakes and also a tasty kippers option. The staff are really lovely and the place is just so relaxing. We've stayed in two rooms, the small double which has a little bathroom/shower area that is a bit slopey because you're in a converted historic building, and the bigger deluxe double room which had that extra space and luxury feel. We managed to get early 2025 deals so the value for money was absolutely excellent.

I don't get on with the pillows which are a bit flat and lumpy, so I bring my own. As the building is old, and historic, some noise from walking around on creaky floors both in the room and by people outside can be noticeable, but it goes with the territory. This is not a newbuild. The wifi is unpredictable and on two stays we were able to connect okay and do some work from the room, but on the last stay we were wifi-less for two days, and our phones has issues with reception - this was a small problem as we had to be contactable by relatives who were experiencing an emergency.

Check-in was simple and without issues. Staff, food and room were perfect..clean comfortable and daily service. We as a family of 7 dined in the evening restaurant and the food and staff were exceptional. 5 minutes to the nearest village by car or taxi where there are several other pubs, restaurants and shops (Aldi). Ample free parking and countryside location. The breakfast was included and had ample choice. Would definitely stay again. I went to school with the chef and hadn't seen him in 30 years. That was a surprise as I am from this area originally but was visiting family. 9/10 overall. Recommended. Bed was a double and super comfy. Adjustable heating in room on gas central heating. Well done the team.

This place is a little gem. It's easy to get to, the welcome was warm and friendly. Everything was explained to me about the rooms and dining etc upon check in. The room itself was really comfy and cosy. It was really clean too. I dined here for my evening meal and was not disappointed. The choice was great and everything sounded good. I opted for the luxury fish pie. It was really tasty and the greens it was served with were delicious. The service was great, no long waits etc. I travel often for my work and usually don't sleep too well but I can say with all honesty this was the best work night away from home I've had. I slept solid for 7hrs and woke up feeling refreshed and rested. The breakfast was really tasty, again plenty of choice. The hot options were served fresh, made to order. Definitely stay here again!

As my room was above the kitchen area it was slightly noisy at times when cleaning etc was going on however this didn't carry on until late or anything and felt just like housey kind of noise.

Super friendly staff (all of them, bar, restaurant, breakfast and the cleaners), a nice, decent sized room with a king sized bed that was very comfortable. I slept solidly for both nights I was there. Nice, clean en-suite with a very good and powerful shower. I think this was the superior room which was a bit nicer than the standard I had last time. Very good cooked breakfast and excellent evening meals. I had pork belly 1 night and sea bass the other and can thoroughly recommend both.

Can't think of anything really. If I was being really picky then although the filter coffee was nice, I like a cappuccino or latte in the morning without paying extra but tbf no biggie, the coffee was nice enough.

If you’re looking for a country B&B experience that’s comfortable, warm, has good food and great staff, look no further than The Throckmorton. We stayed here with our three teenagers, enjoying the country feel, a beautiful sunrise over the farmlands and the staff treated us like VIPs. We ate dinner in the restaurant with GF options. The staff sorted a small issue that we had and nothing was a problem. The full English breakfast the next morning was amazing, made to order, once again with GF options. We will definitely be back to stay longer next time.

Nothing.

The food was very good, but we found the dinner menu somewhat lacking in selections.. Breakfast was good with a buffet and cooked selection. Service was very good Our room was quite small, the shower room smaller, but the shower itself was very good, loads of hot water, but not much room inside the cubicle,, also, the room was lacking sound privacy if other guests were enjoying themselves.! We were unimpressed with the check out attitude after the custom we gave to you during our stay. Conversely the check in was extremely friendly. All together we woiuld reccomend and stay again if the occasion arises.

The room was lovely and the bed huge. A really good fan was already set up in the room but was too noisy to use when on - to get to sleep. The bed was Uber soft and we prefer a bit firmer mattress,( but that is our personal preference). The food and service were excellent. I’d definitely stay there again.

The room was too hot for us and the bed too soft. The hotel is On a main road and noisy only when the window was open. It was quite sound proof when the window was shut, so it was not a problem.

Everything! We had a 2 night stay very comfortable in a super king bed. We were on B&B terms and the breakfast was fresh, hot and really tasty. We also chose to eat dinner there both nights. Again the food was excellent. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Kirsty who waited on us both in the evening and at breakfast.

There was no phone plugs by the bed which would have been helpful but not a game changer.

The car park was decent size and not over busy, the bedroom was just right size with a nice view and not too close to the road. Also the tv was a decent size and positioned on the wall at the bottom of the bed and there was no problem finding any channels on it - good reception - Netflix, etc. The staff were friendly enough and the meals were a decent size/quality, also if you like real ale I would certainly recommend the Nightjar Stout and UBU - awesome!! The location is also just right if you're a member of the National Trust, like me and the wife, Baddesley Clinton was no problem going around - lovely moated house, we missed out on Packwood House as the last viewing was 14.30 - strange and Coughton Court was closed when we arrived on the Monday and when we left on the Tuesday - even stranger!!

The only things that we noticed was that the hand dispenser for the soap next to the sink was broken but still worked and the tv was not very easy to start up - there was some kind of switch at the back which I have'nt come across before.

The Throckmorton is well located with ample parking. The room was clean and had all the in room facilities that you would expect. The evening meal was very tasty and plentiful and this also applied to the breakfast and there were more options at breakfast than there are at most other accommodations.

Not a big problem but they shut everything down by 10pm. Food by 9pm
