The room was very large, clean and nice. The rooms are set in another block away from the main pub building. The Staff in the pub were all very professional and nothing was too much trouble, as it was hear you needed to go to check in and to ask for anything you need for your room. We were on the top floor so did have to walk up a flight of stairs with our cases, so worth remembering if would struggle and make sure you request a ground floor room, which we wished we had, but did not know about the set up when we booked. We ate in the pub on the evening and the foot was first class and hot, which was great.

The only thing that could have been better were the pillows. They were not that comfortable. With a change of pillows this place would be as good if not better than a Premier Inn as the pub food is far better.

The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the ensuite toilets and shower clean and in good working order. The hotel is right next to the pub (they are from the same company) but we didn't have a chance to try the pub so can't comment on it. The staff was nice, polite and friendly and made us feel welcome. We had to check-in late, but it was not a problem, the receptionist left a note to the night guardian and we were showed to our room without any problem. Free parking available right in front of the hotel.

Clean, quiet and comfortable. On a par with Premier Inn. Great location for Ipswich, as it’s only a 15-20 minute walk into town. Staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of free parking. The pub serves decent food at a reasonable price and has a good range of beers.

Only a minor thing but we booked a family room for the four of us but there were only 2 cups and 2 glasses. The bedroom door sometimes made a strange beeping noise as you opened it, so when I went out early leaving the family asleep it made a quiet exit impossible. We never did quite figure out why it did it, as it only happened occasionally. As you can probably tell there really wasn’t anything major to complain about.

We discovered The Mermaid a few years ago as the family rooms are a very good size, competitively priced compared to many others (including the Travelodge) and the location is ideal for the football. I was able to book a table for after the game that was large enough to meet with some of my friends and the staff were super helpful and friendly. Would also like to mention the bar staff, particularly Dylan, who made my visit very enjoyable. We'll be back again!

We very nearly didn't get a parking space, it would be good if there was a way to reserve those for guests only on match day.

The hotel in general was situated perfectly for being close to family, only thing wrong was I got took ill and spent Saturday, Sunday and Monday in hospital, so paid for room we didn't use for those days, hope to get a refund for days we were not there.

I asked for twin beds, but got king and settee, also asked for walk in shower as disabled and got shower over bath, so had to go to my sister for shower.

Very good location we were going to see a show at the Regent. The room was clean, and the bed was big and comfortable. The manager was extremely helpful and couldn't do enough to help us. My mum is a bit unsteady and unable to walk far he changed our room to an accessible one and let us check in early as it was available. The staff at the Mermaid were polite and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The food was nice and the cocktails were lovely. The breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. The sausage and bacon were very tasty and top quality. We were asked if we wanted black pudding... we didn't, so we were offered an extra alternative. Overall, it was a really great stay.

Clean, comfortable and everything you would want in a hotel room and there was food in the pub next door and room service. If you don’t like the food there, there is a Burger King across the road. Desk, tea and coffee making facilities, soap and shower gel dispensers. The shower was good too. Check in was easy and it wasn’t a problem I had to go in the pub for my room key. I was glad a previous reviewer warned the check in was in the pub so I just left my stuff in the car while I checked in - the distances are not far. 20 min walk to the station or a short drive. I felt safe.

As someone away alone on business, it would have been good to have access to a small fridge like you used to get in hotel rooms but I appreciate these are going out of fashion. It would have been good to have a comfy chair.

I don’t usually sleep very well when stay away from home, but I had such a good night sleep and was able to alter the room temp to make sure we was all comfortable all night. I also loved the price for the night, very very reasonable.

The Works (their full breakfast) had a little less beans, tomatoes and mushroom than expected - but still the full meal was overall filling - and included continental breakfast in the price.

Amazing aircon in the room which was a god send in the heat. Staff were all lovely. Good location, surprisingly quiet considering it’s next to a busy main road. Nice hand soap and shower gel supplied. Curtains were nice black out curtains.

Breakfast was overpriced for what it was. Continental section was very lacking and cooked breakfast was quite bland and made from obviously cheap ingredients.

We found the accomodation very good .the room was very clean and had all the facilities required for a short stay and was good value for money

Unfortunately there were a few things we didn't appreciate within the bar and eating area. For instance we had a carvery meal which was fine but noticed the pigs in blankets were added on at a cost of which we were not advised of at the time .and it's not something we would of added.. also noticed when making payment you are required to tap a box wether to include a tip or not at time of payment.we feel that this is something you leave at the end of the meal or buying drinks. These are the only things we feel that need being addressed. We had every intention of writing to your head office complaining about this.
