We travelled with our little girl to visit relatives a few days before Christmas and expected basic accommodation but the Holiday Inn Orwell exceeded our expectations in every way. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Staff went out of their way to ensure my dietary requirements (coeliac disease) were catered to, and that all of the team were aware. I had two of the tastiest gluten free meals in their restaurant that I think I've ever eaten. There was a big breakfast selection, and even a gluten free station so that you could safely make your own toast. The room was spacious, very clean and had all the amenities you'd expect. Very comfy beds too. We were also provided with a travel cot for the little one which was spotlessly clean. The staff are so warm and friendly really make the hotel a lovely place to stay, and were great with our little girl. We enjoyed our stay so much that we joked we should stay for Christmas!

How clean and tidy it waste staff friendly and nothing to much trouble, we have been here many times now hence why we like it for an escape to quietness and relaxation.

We do however have very much concerns in regard to parking as they are having EV power point 12 I think being installed so that is 12 spaces lost as I guess when the car is charged it would need to be moved to a normal parking slot, this and the fact while we stayed it appear Toyota/Lexus/Vauxhall staff park there cars in hear as well not to mention the new cars we saw from Toyota/Lexus being stored so we are wondering in the situation if the car park was full ware would the paying guess park and is IHG giving priority to the dealerships over guest we do hope not but we are concerned if this should be the case.

The stay was very good the staff warm and friendly always with a smile makes so much difference, the only down side is the TV set up it is freeview so the channels are not up to much a freest set up would be a lot better, the other concern we do have is the parking in that they have quite a few of the new EV charger units which is fine however as I understand it is only to use when charging and not parking so the car would then have to moved to a normal parking spot which is fine but if you have lost what 15 spaces to EV and then top it up Toyota over the road seems to park there cars on this site as well this is ware I have my concern as there is no off street parking around the Hotel.

The stay as I mention was very good so please with that the TV again as mentioned could do with upgrading.

Clean and tidy. Staff were attentive friendly helpful. The walk-in shower was perfect (albeita bit high for the less mobile and no grab rails), even the fact you could turn it on/ off without actually being in the shower. Breakfast was everything you needed to start the day. Convenient location for what we needed to do.

It wasn't a dislike it is a general observation due to being disabled. The shower base was too high, and there were no grab rails, which would have helped me to get in and out! No aircon, but the tower fans helped a bit to disturb the air while trying to sleep.

Where do I start? Easy to get to location straight off the A14. Minimal, if zero queuing to get to the hotel. Super close to restaurants and fast food places but the in house resturant and bar does lovely food. Fantastic service. You can also get uber eats etc to deliver there really quickly and easily, as long as you meet them in reception. The staff are amazing. Literally, amazing. Genuinely kind, helpful, lovely people that made our 2 week stay so much easier than I thought it would be. William saved the day after my food delivery one evening wasn't eatable and another member of staff, I didn't get his name unfortunately, noticed a bag that I accidently left in the carpark, he brought it indoors and kept it safe for me. Our room had all the things we needed including multiple plug sockets and USB points. A hairdryer, iron and board, daily top ups of tea and coffee. The beds are super comfy and the temperature is easily controlled within the room. We were even able to bring our dog with us. Do not think twice about choosing to stay at this hotel. Absolutely wonderful stay.

There genuinely isn't anything I was unhappy about.

The Room was very clean and tidy a good size and with a sofa one could relax, the dining area is clean and organised, the staff are friendly helpful and nothing is to much trouble and you are greeted with a smile every time,we have now stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions and every time it has been great so much we are back again very shortly,give it a try.

The staff how clean the hotel is and the toilets included an area we have found to not be the case in other hotels

Firstly the staff were outstanding, all the 3 girls who covered reception I can't fault at all, they were all friendly and helpful above expectations, I left my toiletries bag at home and when mentioned the receptionist did me a box of soaps, toothbrushes and some razors plus some nice smelling washing lotions, even found a charger for me to use, so outstanding, the cleaners did a great job keeping our room clean and did the bed every day and made sure we had everything we needed, only had to ask if we wanted extra coffee or milk or sugar, the shower and wash basin were lovely and clean along with ample towels of different sizes, the floor was hoovered and kept clean and the TV worked fine, WiFi was also very stong

Now this is a massive let down. The bed was rock hard, way too firm for me, I ached terrible every time I turned over, I fort laying on the floor would be softer, it would be great to those who like it firm, especially for medical reasons, the pillows were firm but ok for me, there is a card by the bed saying you can change to softer ones if you like, just let the cleaners or reception know, just one other little gripe, a king size bed would have been nicer then the double size

It was very accessible; car parking good; check in efficient; room clean including bath room; wifi worked well; breakfast good enough and as expected. All in all very good for the price

Breakfast is always a little less than great. Its good enough but the scrambled eggs always come across a little dry and teh sausages/bacon isnt always the best quality. Its what you expect. The choice was good and it met expectations - I'm being picky.

We enjoyed breakfast we mostly stayed at premier inn but the breakfast was always poor and you now have to ask for the room to be cleaned. Holiday inn breakfast was always hot they had more choice and the staff were helpful, only problem we had was they had decaf tea the first day but couldn’t find any after that, it wasn’t a major problem as we always take our own, but most places do have it. I have AF and am not aloud caffeine. Chef always checked all was ok and asked if we needed anything else.

Drinks and evening meals were expensive for what you had.

Clean, comfy room lovely and quiet. Chocolates on the bed when we arrived. Really lovely person at reception.

The lady working behind the bar in the evening was one of the rudest people we've ever been served by. Had to ask to be served every time as she wasn't there. When she finally turned up there was no hello, no smile, blunt one worded responses. At one point we heard her shouting at the people in the kitchen for pressing the call button to serve food. Generally unpleasant and like that to every poor customer in the bar that evening, who were all very patient with her.
