I used to stay here a lot but not since Marriot sold to Holiday Inn. No major changes except bar and breakfast prices had skyrocketed so didn't take breakfast: but the exhorbitantly priced Savignon Blanc was, to be fair, delicious. The staff I saw, bar, housekeeping and reception were all friendly and professional but special.mention of Rebekah who covered reception solo. Very welcoming on late arrival, seemed to greet everyone passing through and when I asked for a soft pillow (very firm ones first night caused a stiff neck) despite having no cover fetched one, delivered it and whizzed back to cover reception at the speed of light.

4 very firm pillows that you don't realise have given you a stffneck until the middle of the night. A mix of firm and soft as standard room make up might make more sense.

Its position. Very close to the A14 and a short taxi ride to the Waterfront. Room and Bathroom were both a good size , clean and comfortable. Staff were welcoming and friendly.

The only gripe I have is we paid for our room with cash. I was then asked to provide a further £100 deposit using my card. I didn’t have an issue with that other than it took five days to be removed from pending and reflect as available again on my a bank Apparently had I paid for my room by card they would only have taken a £1 as I was a member. In our case this wasn’t a real issue as we could afford it but possibly there are many who could not. In fairness the receptionist did credit an additional 500 points to my membership to reflect the lack of clarity This is obviously company policy but in this instance not explained clearly. I reiterate in all other aspects the staff were excellent.

Evening staff was very friendly ams very helpful with information. Room was comfortable and spacious. Lovely breakfast and plenty to choose from. Location was great to get round and see Suffolk.

The staff member who was on in the morning was unprofessional. I guest was giving feedback on the hot water situation, and as the left, he was saying they were making it up and if not hot enough to use the kettle! However, there was an issue with the hot water. You had to be up early to get it at its hottest. It mustn't do well with a lot of people using it at once.

We travelled with our little girl to visit relatives a few days before Christmas and expected basic accommodation but the Holiday Inn Orwell exceeded our expectations in every way. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Staff went out of their way to ensure my dietary requirements (coeliac disease) were catered to, and that all of the team were aware. I had two of the tastiest gluten free meals in their restaurant that I think I've ever eaten. There was a big breakfast selection, and even a gluten free station so that you could safely make your own toast. The room was spacious, very clean and had all the amenities you'd expect. Very comfy beds too. We were also provided with a travel cot for the little one which was spotlessly clean. The staff are so warm and friendly really make the hotel a lovely place to stay, and were great with our little girl. We enjoyed our stay so much that we joked we should stay for Christmas!

How clean and tidy it waste staff friendly and nothing to much trouble, we have been here many times now hence why we like it for an escape to quietness and relaxation.

We do however have very much concerns in regard to parking as they are having EV power point 12 I think being installed so that is 12 spaces lost as I guess when the car is charged it would need to be moved to a normal parking slot, this and the fact while we stayed it appear Toyota/Lexus/Vauxhall staff park there cars in hear as well not to mention the new cars we saw from Toyota/Lexus being stored so we are wondering in the situation if the car park was full ware would the paying guess park and is IHG giving priority to the dealerships over guest we do hope not but we are concerned if this should be the case.

The stay was very good the staff warm and friendly always with a smile makes so much difference, the only down side is the TV set up it is freeview so the channels are not up to much a freest set up would be a lot better, the other concern we do have is the parking in that they have quite a few of the new EV charger units which is fine however as I understand it is only to use when charging and not parking so the car would then have to moved to a normal parking spot which is fine but if you have lost what 15 spaces to EV and then top it up Toyota over the road seems to park there cars on this site as well this is ware I have my concern as there is no off street parking around the Hotel.

The stay as I mention was very good so please with that the TV again as mentioned could do with upgrading.

Clean and tidy. Staff were attentive friendly helpful. The walk-in shower was perfect (albeita bit high for the less mobile and no grab rails), even the fact you could turn it on/ off without actually being in the shower. Breakfast was everything you needed to start the day. Convenient location for what we needed to do.

It wasn't a dislike it is a general observation due to being disabled. The shower base was too high, and there were no grab rails, which would have helped me to get in and out! No aircon, but the tower fans helped a bit to disturb the air while trying to sleep.

Where do I start? Easy to get to location straight off the A14. Minimal, if zero queuing to get to the hotel. Super close to restaurants and fast food places but the in house resturant and bar does lovely food. Fantastic service. You can also get uber eats etc to deliver there really quickly and easily, as long as you meet them in reception. The staff are amazing. Literally, amazing. Genuinely kind, helpful, lovely people that made our 2 week stay so much easier than I thought it would be. William saved the day after my food delivery one evening wasn't eatable and another member of staff, I didn't get his name unfortunately, noticed a bag that I accidently left in the carpark, he brought it indoors and kept it safe for me. Our room had all the things we needed including multiple plug sockets and USB points. A hairdryer, iron and board, daily top ups of tea and coffee. The beds are super comfy and the temperature is easily controlled within the room. We were even able to bring our dog with us. Do not think twice about choosing to stay at this hotel. Absolutely wonderful stay.

There genuinely isn't anything I was unhappy about.

The Room was very clean and tidy a good size and with a sofa one could relax, the dining area is clean and organised, the staff are friendly helpful and nothing is to much trouble and you are greeted with a smile every time,we have now stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions and every time it has been great so much we are back again very shortly,give it a try.

The staff how clean the hotel is and the toilets included an area we have found to not be the case in other hotels

Perfect location for the conference we were attending. Very impressed with the prompt service we received when we had a problem with our sink. Staff even left us a bar of chocolate as an apology! Comfy bed. We appreciate the blackout curtains. Lovely to have a bath instead of just a shower. Staff were helpful and polite.

Would have loved to have a small fridge in the room!
