The room was very large, clean and nice. The rooms are set in another block away from the main pub building. The Staff in the pub were all very professional and nothing was too much trouble, as it was hear you needed to go to check in and to ask for anything you need for your room. We were on the top floor so did have to walk up a flight of stairs with our cases, so worth remembering if would struggle and make sure you request a ground floor room, which we wished we had, but did not know about the set up when we booked. We ate in the pub on the evening and the foot was first class and hot, which was great.

The only thing that could have been better were the pillows. They were not that comfortable. With a change of pillows this place would be as good if not better than a Premier Inn as the pub food is far better.

Clean, quiet and comfortable. On a par with Premier Inn. Great location for Ipswich, as it’s only a 15-20 minute walk into town. Staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of free parking. The pub serves decent food at a reasonable price and has a good range of beers.

Only a minor thing but we booked a family room for the four of us but there were only 2 cups and 2 glasses. The bedroom door sometimes made a strange beeping noise as you opened it, so when I went out early leaving the family asleep it made a quiet exit impossible. We never did quite figure out why it did it, as it only happened occasionally. As you can probably tell there really wasn’t anything major to complain about.

We discovered The Mermaid a few years ago as the family rooms are a very good size, competitively priced compared to many others (including the Travelodge) and the location is ideal for the football. I was able to book a table for after the game that was large enough to meet with some of my friends and the staff were super helpful and friendly. Would also like to mention the bar staff, particularly Dylan, who made my visit very enjoyable. We'll be back again!

We very nearly didn't get a parking space, it would be good if there was a way to reserve those for guests only on match day.

Very good location we were going to see a show at the Regent. The room was clean, and the bed was big and comfortable. The manager was extremely helpful and couldn't do enough to help us. My mum is a bit unsteady and unable to walk far he changed our room to an accessible one and let us check in early as it was available. The staff at the Mermaid were polite and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The food was nice and the cocktails were lovely. The breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. The sausage and bacon were very tasty and top quality. We were asked if we wanted black pudding... we didn't, so we were offered an extra alternative. Overall, it was a really great stay.

Clean, comfortable and everything you would want in a hotel room and there was food in the pub next door and room service. If you don’t like the food there, there is a Burger King across the road. Desk, tea and coffee making facilities, soap and shower gel dispensers. The shower was good too. Check in was easy and it wasn’t a problem I had to go in the pub for my room key. I was glad a previous reviewer warned the check in was in the pub so I just left my stuff in the car while I checked in - the distances are not far. 20 min walk to the station or a short drive. I felt safe.

As someone away alone on business, it would have been good to have access to a small fridge like you used to get in hotel rooms but I appreciate these are going out of fashion. It would have been good to have a comfy chair.

We found the accomodation very good .the room was very clean and had all the facilities required for a short stay and was good value for money

Unfortunately there were a few things we didn't appreciate within the bar and eating area. For instance we had a carvery meal which was fine but noticed the pigs in blankets were added on at a cost of which we were not advised of at the time .and it's not something we would of added.. also noticed when making payment you are required to tap a box wether to include a tip or not at time of payment.we feel that this is something you leave at the end of the meal or buying drinks. These are the only things we feel that need being addressed. We had every intention of writing to your head office complaining about this.

I liked everything, clean room strong WiFi, the mermaid has a Hugh menu of great food including delicious breakfasts, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and bent over backwards to make sure my stay was perfect, unfortunately I booked in after the kitchen closed at night but the receptionist was really helpful in showing me how to go on line and order a takeaway to be delivered, very nice touch I fort, the hotel part has great security and you can only enter by the card provided, the card also act as the electric on/ off in your room by placing it in a holder by the light switch just inside the door of your room, I understand why it's this way and support it, I always used the Orwell hotel when I came to Ipswich but the mermaid to me is so much better and will now be my first choice of stay

The hotel and restaurant were excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and they had arranged a cot bed for us as we were travelling with a baby. They also arranged for us to stay an extra night in the same rooms when our next hotel was cancelled. There was on site parking and it's 15 min walk from the train station, with a few supermarkets nearby. The restaurant was great and very welcoming too. Finally, when we left we left a pair of sunglasses in the room, and the staff kindly posted them to us free of charge! 5* service, thank you!

The breakfast was a little pricey, but there is a wide range and it was very tasty.

Very helpful staff, mostly based in the adjacent restaurant. Large, comfortable bed and plenty of space in the room. Wet room style bathroom made showering easy and safe. Food was excellent.

It was a particularly cold night and the room took a while to warm up, even with the heating turned up. No extra blankets. There was a fault with the emergency alarm, which went off when I switched off the bedside lamp. Staff came over each time to check I was OK, to my confusion until I realised what had triggered the alarm.

The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Liked the good number of electrical/USB power points. Nice view from the room at the back of the hotel. The cleaning staff were very helpful. Great location within easy reach of the town centre, and with a number of shops/eating options close by.

Just one minor point...the room didn't have a coat hook on the wall in the entrance hallway. Might be an issue for a stay in colder weather!
