We really enjoyed our stay and found the breakfast and dinner were excellent both in quality and value for money. The staff were all very good, in particular Choo gets a special mention for his efficiency and friendliness. The view was great from our room and was very spacious.

This is not a fault of anyone but we could hear the guests above us walking around and opening and closing doors. There are signs asking guests to be quiet and it was just unfortunate that we were woken very early by them.

The private bath/onsen in our room was an absolute highlight. The fantastic, unobstructed view made the experience even more memorable.

The tatami bed setup was not ideal for my wheelchair-bound mom, as it was difficult for her to manage. Additionally, the third bed was not arranged upon our arrival. While we appreciated having a private bath/onsen, it was unfortunately out of order on the first day but was promptly fixed by the second day.

Beautifully located a bit outside of Beppu. It is far, so remember to book dinner at the hotel in advance. You can reach the Beppu roapway quite easily by local bus though (suica card works btw). The dinner (wagyu meal set) and breakfast were excellent and the chef very accommodating as my friend is a pescetarian and does not eat meat, so he prepared a dinner and breakfast with no meat just for her. The rooms are very nice, spacious and clean with a great view over Beppu and the bay. We slept very well on the tatami style mattress and the open air bathroom with access to the hot springs water was so relaxing and nice. 100% recommend!

It was beautiful, had a great overlook of the city. Nice, relaxing onsen in our own private bathroom, perfect few days to relax after 2 weeks of running around Japan.

It is definitely a little annoying to get to, not convenient to use public transport as it’s up a steep hill. That’s the bad side of having such a beautiful and tranquil location, but expected.

The view from the hotel was great! We could see the whole city of Beppu and the sunrises were spectacular if captured from the 2nd floor

The food was not up to standard for such a hotel. The meals were unbalanced. There is too much starch (rice and noodles) and not enough vegetables and fruits. Breakfast on our second day was especially heavy on starch!

We had a private onsen in the room next to a large window that opens up to a good view. We didn't try the communal onsen as it was breezy and snowing then, and required a short walk in the elements (thou sheltered). The private onsen is good enough. The room is modern, bright and comfortable. The huge glass balcony doors opens up to a nice view of the town and mountains. We had half-board and the dinner was awesome.

The location is a little difficult to find.

They had a warm welcome and informative introduction to the facilities. The room was also clean and fully equipped with amenities. The view from our room was magnificent and it was surprisingly quiet even though we were near the restaurant. The breakfast (additional service) was sumptuous and we were glad we had ordered it for all three days. The personal in-room onsen was easy to figure out and was definitely the highlight of the stay! Staff were also friendly and helpful from check-in to check-out.

The location is somewhat out of the way and requires either a drive or a taxi - both of which are manageable. Also, I was repeatedly asked when I wanted my breakfast/dinner by different staff since there were many assisting different areas of the accommodation.

Unfortunately their dinner service was out of our budget, so we got food from outside before arrival (there are literally no restaurants within walkable distance, so please get something before you arrive, from Beppu Station for example). You can take the bus here from Beppu Station and it's a small uphill walk. Breakfast was amazing, however! I really enjoyed the seasonal veggies and the local ingredients. The onsen in the room was wonderful and there's plenty of amenities to use (make up remover, lotions, facial cottons, hair tie, too!) There's chopsticks, plates and forks and wine glasses in the room btw.

I think Cleaning Team can be a bit more detail oriented, as the moss/mold near the room and onsen was not a very good sight. I understand it is always moist in those spots, though. There were moss under the shower head holders on the walls and where there's wood.

It was beautifully designed, the futon beds were sooooo comfortable, the onsen bath was wonderous and the staff were amazingly accomodating and friendly and the customer service was exceptional. The view was also stunning from the room. The room also came with free facial products like wash and cleansing oil and lotion. The price was also so good; you would never get this level of service for this price in the UK.

The only mild set back is it is quite far up in the hilly part of Beppu, but that's to be expected and the view and experience are more than worth it.

This place is exceptional. Up the hill with a wonderful view back into Beppu. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the dinners and breakfasts prepared under head chef Naoya's guidance were exceptional and absolute works of art. The private onsen in the room was such a wonderful addition and put to good use during our stay.

Absolutely nothing!
