The hotel is in a great situation for an event I will be attending later in the year. Plentiful parking. Lovely grounds. The staff were all welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room was very well appointed with windows that opened.

Minor points but worth mentioning - feather pillows would have been much appreciated , artificial filling makes pillows too firm. The shower, while being a very good size was a challenge because there were no hand holds to assist with getting in and out safely, there were no hooks to hang the towels from - the hook on the back of the bathroom door was missing.

This hotel is just beautifully picturesque, like something from a movie! I stayed on business, so found it by chance as I was looking for somewhere comfortable but reasonably priced between Doncaster and Wakefield. So I had a double room which was quiet and comfortable with everything I needed, even WiFi better than most chains. Staff were very friendly, and helpful, and the breakfast in the morning (avocado on toast with poached eggs) was absolutely delicious! Overall I think it’s one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in, and I paid less than £70 mid week!

WiFi in hotels is always a pain to login to and sketchy at best, in 2025 it should be simpler to use and high speed. The WiFi at this hotel was ok, and better than most hotels but still not as good or as easy as my WiFi at home making work less than perfect but doable.

Beautiful property with lots of character. Very clean, room was a good size. Staff were lovely, staff member on reception was great, he booked us in to the restaurant last minute and was very informative. Restaurant staff were great also, food was delicious and the restaurant was cosy. Hotel was quiet, we didn’t hear noise from any other guests.

The only downside was the shower, the water pressure was not good. Unsure if this was because of the age of the building or the recent hose pipe bans? However, it was only a minor inconvenience and hasn’t affected whether we would stay again.

Beautiful location, friendly helpful staff ( its Yorkshire after all). Excellent parking attractive grounds part of hotel is period 17C but there are later additions. The Jacobean pub is used for dining. We arrived on a Sunday but it was all ready totally booked up ( It does a very good Sunday lunch) So don’t assume you can use it at weekends without booking. We would rebook again if we were visiting in the area. It’s easy to get too if you are travelling on A1 Our room had a comfortable bed and was well fitted but in Period Style.

Staircase to period section of hotel a bit tricky and corridors a bit dark. It wasn’t an issue for us but be aware the hotel has a wedding speciality so could be noisier ( it was wonderfully quiet for us) Bathroom shower OK but not a powerful one.

Clean, comfy bed, nice staff, good food. Nicel open green surroundings. Breakfast was very good and plentifulwith lots of choice.

My partner kept banging his head on the low ceilings and random low wall section above the sink. There was a wedding on when we were there which we wouldn't have known about so a little noisy so I'd recommend phoning up first to check before booking if on a weekend. We wouldn't have known as booked last minute directly on booking.com and the nice lady at reception said she would always let guests know about weddings if you book directly through the hotel so might be worth knowing it's a popular wedding venue.

Welcomed with a smile and friendly face, along with an amazing aroma. The whole manor from reception right through and round to our room was immaculate. The room was spacious, had everything we needed and the bathroom was modern with an amazing shower and fluffy soft bath towels. We had room service for dinner as we arrived later than expected and it arrived quickly and was freshly made and piping hot. Breakfast in the morning is one of the largest selections I have seen, from continental to cooked every need was met. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

We only did one night as a halfway stop over to Scotland and would have liked to have stayed longer. Couldn't fault anything.

Friendly receptionist, great value for parking and accommodation for a night. Adjoining pub served great evening meal and breakfast, and was a nice place to spend time in. Hotel contacted me in advance due to a noisy function to check if I was attending and ensured I was in a quiet room as I wasn't.

Perhaps a refurbishment due - cracked and loose floor tiles in bathroom, very soft mattress on bed. Hairpin from a previous guest on floor in room, aircon unit blew out a lot of dust when turned on (perhaps hadn't been used in a while).

We had a suite and it was very plush and comfortable, huge freestanding bath, walk in shower. Wish we had been staying longer. The pub on the side of manor house was great, good choice of beers and lovely wholesome homecooked food. I would definitley recommend the Beef Stew it was awesome.

Only gripe would be the sockets they were low down and there was no where really safe to boil the kettle, would have thought with all the effort gone into the rooms there would have been a dedicated brewing station / area.

The food was lovely at the evening meal, She had the salmon, i had the pork. Both were lovely. The room was great. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was worth paying for. We both had the full English and it was lovely. Bar staff were pleasant on the evening. Altogether a lovely night stay. Would definitely go again

The Guinness had a funny taste about it but there was nothing wrong with the Lager. We had room 8 which was near some heat pumps outside which made a bit of a noise but that was okay.

Staff were all lovely & attentive. Food is always piping hot, which is great compared to some places we have stayed. Suites are beautiful. Lots of space, comfortable & great value fur money.

Dispensers in shower need filling although we did get more shower gel from the reception. The bath was full of short hairs all around the edge from the previous guest so this could do with cleaning again and checking. Could do with a bar of soap for the sink as there’s nothing to wash your hands with. Plug points are sparse - could do with an extension lead/plug board.
