We had booked a nights stay before doing the C2C bike ride. The team at the Lion realised this and contacted me prior to arrival as they had a party/ band at the lion which might impact our stay. We were offered rooms at their sister hotel the Kellbank and our group moved there. We had a nice meal & peaceful, good nights sleep and a great stay at the Kellbank. Great customer service to notice our needs and move the group without fuss. The Kellbank was perfect for our stay and will book there again next year.

Location excellent. Room comfortable. Food in bar good value and tasty. Free parking.

Heating on QR code not ideal. Breakfast poor. Having to collect from shop up road and a breakfast barm is not really a breakfast. Not allowed to have orange juice or water instead of a coffee. Room we stayed in number 1 was quite noisy from 6am not sure if it was cleaning staff or other residents. Hairdryer attached to drawer so unable to dry hair properly. Not enough hanging or drawer space. We stayed 3 nights and no room for everything.

The room,the pub/sports bar area & the food. The staff were lovely and very helpful.

Loud music from downstairs which travels up into my room from the disused chimney breast. But it's a pub/sports bar for locals, it's expected it was all quiet by 10.30pm. Also, other travellers that slam the door shut when leaving at 4am in the morning, which woke me up and is very inconsiderate.

Loud music from the bar area which kept me awake, but it's a sports bar, so it's expected. Other travellers that slam their bedroom doors at 4am in the morning,which disturbed my sleep. On arrival the room was cold, took 20 minutes to warm up, but, make sure you scan the barcode in the room to activate the heating.

Almost everything was spot on, especially the ladies behind the bar in helping me with getting a taxi to muncaster mid Sunday bank holiday. Really grateful for their efforts. Bountiful breakfast was a godsend too.

Late night Karaoke went on longer than expected.

Great location, short drive to Wast Water, Scafell Pike and plenty of other landmarks. The room and the bathroom were clean, reasonably spacious and contained everything needed. There’s a number of food options around, including pub downstairs. Excellent price in season, nice bartender working there had to gently remind us we overstayed by almost an hour since I confused checkout time with another place. Overall definitely a great value for money.

Staff were friendly, check in was easy. Nice beer. Bakery 3 doors down did very nice sandwiches and pies. Sister pub at other end of village did very nice food.

No breakfast. No parking but free car park was close enough. Food presentation could be improved on. Watch out for the raised "stage" . I tripped over it on the first night and witnessed another guest falling full length later in the week.

mix up with meal, but it was sorted. staff very good but because they were very busy didn't take time to listen to us when the wrong meal was given to us. Food was lovely when we did get the right meal. The road through Gosforth was very busy and the traffic was going too fast even though the speed limit is 20 mph making walking a bit difficult (mostly no pavement). We do appreciate this is not the fault of the hotel!

Stayed here before the meals served within the pub are great, had entertainment on in the evening which was great. Facilities are good with a pool table and darts. Music was great.

Breakfast was supplied via a shop next door not the best food, no seating either more like a take-away.

We booked room only so cannot comment on food/drink etc as we didnt use the pub. Access to the rooms is separate from the pub. We found our room to be very clean and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom facilities very good. Parking is free in a public car park across the road which we found to be convenient.

Our room (standard double) was a little bit small but ok
