I loved absolutely everything. This will now be my base whenever I go to the Lakes. The location is stunning, couldn't get enough of the views from my window and everywhere around. The room was a very good size, comfortable, very clean. Staff very friendly but professional. Lovely breakfast with cooked items buffet and some pastries, fruit, cereal and yogurts. Generally lovely facilities, especially the lounge with the fireplace.

The view was absolutely breathtaking and the staff were really friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was pretty standard (eg cereal in little packets) but the eggs in particular were excellent, despite sitting out. The bed was very comfortable as was the room overall.

It was quite expensive for what it was (a standard hotel with the usual facilities) and I feel that we paid over the odds just for the view (which was, granted, amazing!). It’s also clearly set up for walkers which is fine of course but that means lots of hard, easy to clean surfaces (wood, slate) which made it difficult for someone like me with hearing loss.

Everything about my stay was fantastic. This hotel runs like clock-work. It was spotlessly clean and maintained. The staff were friendly and highly organised. Food was fine - every night at dinner a different menu, breakfast a super buffet with hot and cold options. The location was ideal for hiking with Dale Head at the back of the hotel, and Glaramara in front. What I liked about my holiday was that there was no need to drive anywhere. My room was at the front with a lovely mountain view. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. I had my companion lurcher with me. He had a great time with some lovely walks in the area, for example to Seathwaite or on the CTC. In all, ten out ten, no question.

Nothing.

Second time staying here. Very comfortable well appointed rooms which were clean and airy with plenty of storage space. The bathroom was recently renovated with a good shower and again lots of storage space. The food at the hotel is good for the area and the dinners are well thought out. Staff are friendly and approachable. And the location is of course excellent. Plenty of car parking. Wifi now very quick. The lounge is very comfortable with views onto the fells.

Breakfast could be 15 mins earlier given the type of activities that everyone wants to do in Borrowdale. Top up trays for tea/coffee facilities (ie spare tea/coffee/milk) would be great (or one was not pointed out to us). Full packed lunch costs seem high - would be better to forgo the disposable plastic waterbottle in favour of additional food, like a bar, preferably home made (everyone walking should have their own reusable water bottle and this is just pollution). No information on recycling in rooms.

Always a lovely stay at Glaramara. There's such a nice community feel. The location is unmatched in my opinion; right at the gateway to Buttermere and the Honister Pass but also super easy to bus into Keswick and beyond, either via the Borrowdale valley, or the route via Catbells. It's so quiet and peaceful in the evenings but with a nice buzz in the daytime with many walkers stopping by for a drink, even if they are not guests at the hotel. It's a great base if you want to tackle Scafell Pike via the Corridor Route, or the Gables, or Glaramara. You can bus towards Buttermere to get to the start of the route to Haystacks or even to Pillar (if you like long days). Also within easy reach via bus are Skiddaw, Blencathra, the list goes on. You can get the bus to the Slate Mine and walk the ridge from Dale Head (this is the best view in the Lakes in my opinion), or up Fleetwith Pike and down into Buttermere. Derwentwater is also nearby if you like flat walks. So, so many options, you won't get bored. The hotel itself is so clean and welcoming. The breakfast and dinners are always 10/10 and the staff friendly and obliging. I love that everyone sits down to dinner together at the same time. It makes it a lovely place to stay for solo travellers. The lounge is a lovely place to relax in the evening and you can usually find someone to chat to, if so inclined, or just relax by yourself with a book. I have stayed at lots of other places in the Lakes, all lovely, but I always find myself coming back to Glaramara. Not only for the excellent location for walks, but for the lovely people and the beauty and peace of the valley. Sitting outside on a summer evening, with aching legs from a day of steep climbs, watching the sky darken over the fells to the sound of only sheep and birds, is a balm for the soul that I would recommend to anyone. See you there :)

Absolutely stunning location with views of the lakes mountains all around. Large range of walking routes starting right at the hotel. Packed lunches were available to order to take out on hikes so well geared up for lakes visitors. Great breakfast with friendly staff that were always willing to help. Dinners were unusual - only one sitting at 7.30pm but it meant you got to know other guests in the hotel, with coffee in front the fire after giving you opportunity to get to know some of the other guests too. The room felt like it had been recently renovated and the bathroom was modern with an excellent large overhead shower.

It was overall an excellent stay. I hadn't realised about the one sitting dinner before my arrival (probably hadn't read the booking details well!). I think the dinner menu might need a little more thought, particularly desserts.

The Hotel was perfectly situated for the hikes we wanted to do. The staff were lovely and helpful, the rooms are very nicely presented with comfy beds and great pillows ( pillows are a thing for me. I take mine with me whenever we travel by car. But it stayed in the car 👍) great bathrooms with great showers. Good lighting in the rooms with plenty sockets and usb points all in the right places. The food was amazing. Breakfast was good and the 3 course evening meal was soooooooo good ( I don’t say that very often )

The bed room was too hot overnight. (I just opened the window and was ok.) The toilets near reception were really cold.

Great Hotel in a fantastic location, great friendly staff, comfortable large bed with a stylish bathroom. Great touch with Photos & Pictures of the lovely scenery in the lake district via local artists / photographers, touch of class.

Unfortunately the Loweswater Gold Ale was disappointing, last year this was creamy and lovely, so bad only had 1 pint during my stay. Not a great lover of Breakfast, especially buffet style, whilst there was lots on offer, I thought it was not hot enough (even though I had the Breakfast as soon as it opened.

The hotel was great. High quality with lovely views from the lounge. The location was excellent for walking, right in the heart of the Borrowdale valley.

The room was at the back over the bar and kitchen. The fridge chiller units were on all the time and were quite noisy. I couldn't open my room window because of the noise, so the room became warm. After I complained the hotel kindly moved me to a room on the other side of the hotel. If you need the window open at night I recommend you check with the hotel before you arrive.

Well situated for walks. Nice & quiet. Good that there was fruit & bars to take for lunch.

Didn’t have my bed made up properly on the 2nd morning. The heating came on very late in the evening & the room was cold until quite late. It should be on around 4pm & not around 7pm. The croissants were dry & there was little choice of fruit for breakfast - I don’t eat cooked breakfast. There should be a better choice of types of coffee & not just cafetière/filter coffee. There should also be a choice of hot milk to have with coffee.
