Everything, place was stunning and set in a stunning valley with fantastic hikes and beautiful waterfalls.We are not proper hikers but just dabble occasionally. The hotel was full of dogs which was great to see.The staff were always on hand when needed but never lurking.The meals were very nice and were worth the money.The breakfast especially were something to look forward too.Not a problem adding or subtracting anything from the full Cumbria.I stayed in the lakes frequently having originally been from Teeside (Now London for 35 years)but did not know about this little Gem of a hotel or about Great Langdale. Only stayed for 3 nights as we had a busy schedule for half term.Will definitely be back.Thank you to all the Amazing staff and Management.

Ridiculous to say but the hotel was to warm and I joked they were stealing electricity from their neighbours until I learnt about the hydro electric.There was nothing to dislike,we both loved it.

Obviously the drive and scenery to the hotel is stunning. Easy to find and a warm welcome. Comfortable beds and clean throughout. Room was spot on once we sorted the mix up. Great views out the window. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Beer was delicious also. As we were there for our wedding anniversary we were made to feel very welcome and looked after. Thank-you.

Slight mix up with rooms. Sorted out very quickly and professionally. Long wait for our food after a long day walking wasn't the best but when it did come out after 2 hours it was delicious. Nothing else to moan about. Great stay

This hotel is ideal for a quiet break away. Plenty of walking trails just out side. Bus service to Ambelside on the door step, almost. If you want to go out for a drink. Parking on site and an overflow very near. Restaurants and bar with great local real ales. Well worth a visit The rooms are on suite, comfortable bed Powerful hot shower. Nice beautiful scenery, views from your window sunrise to wake up to Very relaxing place to be We will be back Helpful polite staff

The hotel is problem free for us. Watch the bus time table carefully last bus back from Ablelsde 7.25 pm weekdays

First time we have stopped at the NDG since the change of ownership and we were not disappointed. The staff were excellent - very friendly, welcoming, helpful and happy!!! Breakfast was great and if like me you are not that keen on a traditional English breakfast there are alternative hot options eg. Eggs Benedict (lovely) in addition to the usual juice, cereal, toast and yogurt. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The food menu for lunch/evening was great and the meal we had was lovely. You have the option to reserve a table in the restaurant or eat in the Walker’s Bar, beer garden (paved or grassed). The location of the NDG is located in a fantastic valley with great options of walks right from your door. If you just want to chill and relax the beer garden and gardens offer plenty of seating with stunning views. We have always enjoyed our previous stays at the NDG but the new owners RedCat Pub Company staff, better breakfast choice and meal options made this our best stay ever at this lovely hotel.

The evening meal was lovely as was the breakfast. The staff were excellent efficient friendly especially Francesca ,Hope and Mia who were happy to accommodate my dietary needs .The receptionist was really helpful especially as we asked to park our van at 7.10am to go walking before we checked in for the evening .The area is really beautiful and peaceful.Thoroughly recommend a stay here .

I did have a problem with the room due to the excessive smell of cleaning products that was overpowering and nauseating if you are sensitive to fragrance/asthmatic but on leaving all the windows open for the evening it did clear .and did not hamper my enjoyment of my stay.

Hotel surrounded by beautiful hills/mountain ranges,it was lovely and peaceful. Staff were lovely, attentive especially Hope ,nothing was too much trouble, very knowledgeable and helpful, very professional young lady .Good food .I loved the snug lounge with the comfy chair ,lovely if you want a quaint peaceful room .Will be staying there again very soon .

Staff could do with an extra staff member at breakfast and early evenings as they are trying to serve customers at meal times and people checking in and out of the hotel every day.

We stayed two nights (Saturday and Sunday). We were originally in a superior room and check in was friendly and swift. After the first night, we raised a couple of issues with our room. The manager, Mark, could not have been more helpful and polite. He moved us to a different room and checked that we were comfortable and happy. We ate in the restaurant the first night and had the fish and chips. The food was very good quality - the fish was excellent. The service at the evening meal and at both breakfasts was efficient and friendly. This hotel is in a stunning location and has huge potential. We were informed that there will be a refurb in the near future to brighten up tired areas and solve any maintenance issues. It is a beautiful hotel and, under the management of Mark (who only took over back end of last year), we have no doubt it will become a high class hotel that is a favourite with walkers and holiday makers alike. The breakfast was excellent. The location of the hotel couldn't be better. The room was good, clean and well appointed. Staff were friendly [particularly Dianne] giving good service.

We acknowledge that we went out of season and the hotel was quiet but the menu [especially for vegetarians] was limited. Having said that the chef went out of their way to accommodate us. The room was good but the radiator was on and unadjustable so initially we were far too hot. The bed was a touch hard [you can't please everyone] and the ceiling lights were too bright. This is nit picking however.

Exceptional and beautiful location. Room price vs the location and bedroom views, a no brainer. Great price. We even had a late night fire alarm. Staff acted professional, courteous and polite. We even had an issue with our heating and hot water, which was rectified as soon as possible. We will definitely be coming again! Also, the steak and ale pie, best I’ve ever had!

Tv channels. We had bbc one, two and channel 5. Small, minor issue. Aside from that, everything was perfect

We had a really lovely stay at the hotel. It was in the perfect spot for what we wanted to do on our mini break. We hiked up to Stickle Tarn behind the hotel and went into Windermere to go out on the lake. The hotel itself was so nice, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean and tidy. Our room was an ideal size and the bed was really comfortable. We had drinks in the bar and breakfast on our second morning. It was a bit pricey but not too much more than we expected for a hotel in that location. We’d definitely stay there again in future :)
