Our second perfect stay, this time with American friends.Fab breakfast with nice touches (melon/strawberry). Portion size means you do not need to eat lunch and can go straight to Grant's patisserie in Corbridge- amazing. Roman ruins are amazing, too. We ate in both nights, one a very good Sunday Lunch (interesting texture Yorkshire puds), the other a la carte roast crispy belly pork, but with a nod to curry which was inspirational. I have never eaten this before and hope to taste it again! Lovely choc and orange mousse. Open fires in pub. Good beer. Parking. Outside seating. On the Stanegate, the Roman road less travelled and hence peaceful.
No problems whatsoever. The landlady is a true 10 out of ten. She anticipates your wishes and has lovely waitresses as well. Pub dates to the 12th century.

Great, dog friendly hosts and staff. We had a couple of hounds with us, and they were made to feel incredibly welcome by all on site. The room was really nicely decorated and had everything we needed. I was especially glad to find a full sized fan tucked away inside the cupboard! We'd been looking forward to our meal as we'd been told how amazing the food was....and it was lovely. Breakfasts were fantastic, too. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Inn, and if you enjoy long, peaceful woodland walks, then these are literally on the doorstep Lovely location and great accommodation. Really looking forward to another stay.
The power/pressure in the en suite shower wasn't the best, but, to be honest, it was fine. There was nothing that we didn't like as our stay was fab.

The golden Lion is situated very close to Hadrian’s Wall, making it ideal for a quick visit. The rooms are big and well presented, and the staff are amazing. The food is exactly what you want after a long walk or drive. Excellent quality and plenty of it. The breakfast options are superb. All in all, this place is well worth a visit. Just a shame I was only there for one night. Can recommend enough.

Situated directly on the Stanegate and dating to the 1100s with Scottish roots. Quiet road parallel to Hadrian's wall, so good for bikes. Brilliant little touches: a make up mirror by the window, make up removal towel in grey. Lovely meals- we ate in every night (x 3) and even took some guests who were staying in a different pub. Electric car charger outside hotel. They moved the breakfast time to accommodate us, and it was very good. Quoits pitch among the sheep over the road -allegedly a Roman market place. Church also on Roman foundations. Newsagent in next village.
Though billed as a B&B there is a separate entrance to the rooms upstairs, so you can nip in during the day even if the pub is closed. Pub has real stove fires as well as a separate private dining room.

We had a lovely time here. The location was perfect, we were doing the coast to coast and there was really good secure bicycle storage. The staff were friendly and so helpful. Nice little village with a pretty short walk from the pub to take in some of the area. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were spotless with everything you could need. We ate our evening meal and the food was so good. Needless to say breakfast was great! Can’t fault anything.

This was the closest hotel available in the location we wanted to be. The main reason for booking is that it has restaurant and bar facilities. Staff was friendly and helpful during dinner and breakfast. Food was excellent and generous portions. Hotel is surrounded by beautiful landscape and our rooms had lovely views. All rooms were well kitted for a comfortable stay and very clean.
Narrow stairs which are fine with small cases but we had large suitcases.

The bar was attractive and cosy. The evening meal was excellent and freshly cooked. The room we booked was tastefully decorated with a large bathroom. The breakfast was beautifully laid out. The owners went above and beyond posting on to us the jackets we left in the cupboard...
There are steep stairs to the bedroom we had - unavoidable in an old property, but worth being aware. It would have helped to have dedicated parking for residents unloading luggage.

A lovely quaint coaching inn from the 1100 ‘s .. updated of course. Super comfy beds, great breakfast and staff. It’s the only inn/pub/ restaurant in town. Food is excellent best steak and ale pie… my fourth visit from nz and I love it. 10 mins to steel rigg best part of Hadrian’s wall to visit too.

The room was impeccably maintained, and the bathroom was quite spacious. We truly valued having a modern coffee machine in addition to the kettle. It was just one flight of stairs to reach the dining area by the pub, where both dinner and breakfast were exceptionally well prepared. The staff were all friendly and welcoming.

The location, Newbrough village, was picturesque. The room was very clean. Breakfast was good.
The idiosyncratic single tap made it difficult to control the pressure and temperature of the hot water. Not very welcoming on first arrival, although this did change.
