Wonderful location! Hexham is a lovely town (one of the happiest according to Rightmove). The team at the castle are presentable and find the right balance of being friendly yet professional. The building itself is exactly what it is, a castle! Well maintained and true to its traditions, exactly what you would expect. This is the second visit for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We were made to feel like apart of the Langley family staying here.

The room walls, within the castle itself are not sound proof. Be mindful of other guests in neighbouring rooms. It's a castle/period property, not much that can be done to rectify this other than just being aware and respectful of others.

Langley Castle is a delightful property set in rural quiet surroundings. Warm welcome at reception and in the restaurant. We had Room 14, a bedroom with a separate sitting area and with views of the castle. Tea and coffee facilities were provided. The bathroom provided lovely toiletries. We joined a one-hour tour of the castle which gave us a good idea of the history of the place. The menu is succinct but the food was very appetising.

Wifi was not working properly. I had mentioned it was my husband’s birthday and I had been told it would be relayed to the kitchen staff. However, no one seems to have taken notice of it.

The food in the evening was excellent, but the breakfast was a bit disappointing! For instance the coffee seemed like it was ‘machine’ coffee. The overall Castle experience was wonderful. The dining room and drawing room were really lovely places, and were in keeping with what we expected in a Castle hotel. Staff were lovely, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Bathrooms in the Castle view rooms needed attention, or upgrade. We all really loved the Castle tour in the morning! Very interesting, and informative. The manager Aiden was very knowledgeable and passionate. He’s a real asset to the hotel. The grounds are well tended, and there was plenty of parking available. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

No bathrobes and slippers in the main castle bedrooms. Cheap tissues used in bedrooms. Bathrooms in the castle view rooms need attention or upgrade. Breakfast was not the quality we expected which was a bit disappointing. It appears that the hotel was short staffed, as a table outside was left with used plates and glasses the whole time we were there!

The location was superb and the castle itself is very well finished. The room was exceptional value and super clean. The staff couldn't do enough to help and were very attentive. The breakfast was good value but I found the bacon and black pudding were overcooked, possibly a little long on the heating plate. It was overall great value and the room and staff made it a fantastic experience.

The evening meal was lovely but the breakfast however felt like it had been left on a hotplate for too long. I couldn't cut the bacon with the knife and the black pudding was like a hockey puck. Fortunately I like my food well done, but I think it let the overall experience down a little.

Very nice. Price good for what it offers. Ideal location for visiting Housesteads, Vindolanda, Roman Army Museum. Nice room, good food in restaurant and drawing room (bar). Short wine list but large price range. Room on first floor of Castle View. Large, airy, one normal window for fresh air, one Velux window almost too high to use blind, open or shut for 5 foot people even standing on a chair. Water provided daily. Bathroom hot enough to dry clothes overnight.

Only issue was getting wet &/or cold crossing the grounds between room and restaurant.

The setting is beautiful in the grounds of an impressive and well maintained castle with the bonus of peacocks strutting round. The grounds are immaculately kept. We had a lovely room in the grounds of the castle. The beds were very comfy and ensured a good night’s sleep. Looking out of our room window, we had a lovely view of the castle and the peacock and peahens always seemed to be strutting elegantly past. The bathroom was great too, with plenty of space, fluffy towels and Penhaligon toiletries. The tea tray in the room was well stocked, although we had lovely tea in the drawing room so didn’t really take advantage of it. On the whole, the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming although we did not feel welcome on arrival. The ordinary afternoon tea and cocktails were ok, but not exciting. My son had the gentleman’s afternoon tea and this looked good. My dog had the doggy afternoon tea but he was not impressed. He was however, delighted to receive a sausage at breakfast!

Beautiful castle with stunning rooms - the perfect romantic getaway. Seating alcove by window truly beautiful. Room really well equipped with facilities, perfect temperature and a deliciously cosy bed. Reception staff very friendly and welcoming.

Evening meal (relaxed dining menu) booked in drawing room a little stressful. Had booked a table in the evening, but had to ask for the menu. Drinks order was taken but only part of what we asked for was delivered to the table. Several minutes after ordering meal waitress returned to say the restaurant wouldn’t open for another 45 mins so our food wouldn’t be served until then (despite our menu saying food available 12pm - 8:30pm), but our meal arrived a couple of minutes later anyway. Drinks ran out but waitress never returned to our table to ask how meal was or if extra drinks were needed despite visiting several other tables in the room to ask other guests if they required top ups. Service seemed a bit confused.

Everything here is well done and well thought out. The room in the main castle was wonderful-- spacious and comfortable. I loved the window seat nestled in the 7 foot thick castle wall. The bathroom was great with a shower that sprayed from multiple points. Breakfast was excellent and service was friendly and efficient. Drinks in the large sitting room were nicely served, as we sat under a picture of my great, great+++ grandfather, King Edward III. All in all, a great stay that was over too soon.

Nothing to complain about.

The restored castle which is the main building is very impressive and the lounge and dining room have a very good medieval ambiance. The staff were delightful, very welcoming, looking after one of our group who arrived early and was slightly unwell with great kindness. The rooms in the old stable block were spacious and very well equipped including large armchairs, Beds were also large and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. The grounds are quiet and peaceful, large enough for a stroll with our dogs. The dogs were also made welcome in the lounge.

Very minor gripe - service in the lounge area was slow.

We thought the food on both the A la Carte and the relaxed menu was very good. Certainly recommend. The breakfast we felt could have included the cheeses and meats as no extra charge. It is very rare to find a hotel charging for those items on a continental menu. The location was idyllic and the Cadwaller Room exceeded our expectations. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the castle on the day we left.

The only issue for us personally was the amount of stairs. We were staying at Langley Castle as my husband and I and wanted a restful location after medical problems. I obviously failed to notice the amount of stairs when booking. I will request a lower room in future.
