This Inn is in a lovely little village. Very quaint and beautiful setting. It was perfect for us. The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. The food was fantastic. We had such a good breakfast every day we found we weren't hungry for the rest of the day. We had steaks one night which were great. Very impressive. The next evening we only had a starters each as neither of us was hungry still. There is so much to do in this area that we stayed an extra night too. This place is a little gem and we would definitely come back.
The only negative we found is in this area the road signs aren't very good. Just as well we have a road map in the car.

The Staff were excellent and did everything to make your stay comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. The room we had, Hadriens, was a beautiful room. It had everything we wanted and more. The bed was huge and so comfortable. Bed linen was of good quality and overall it gave you an amazing sleep. Breakfast was amazing and cooked when you ordered. So nothing was being kept warm. We had our evening meal out here. The Menu had many tasty meals. We had something different every night. The quality of the food was excellent. Served by lovely staff. We had an amazing stay for 4 nights and will definitely be going back.
The only thing that was a little negative was that it is quite a way from anywhere. There was no where that we could go and have a stroll after dinner. This will definately not stop us from returning.

The location. The property had character. Wonderful food. Good parking. Good sized windows designed to open reasonably wide ( we like good ventilation )
Disappointing: - one window wouldn’t open - poor design of shower arrangement and (faulty) half-screen; the gap between bottom of screen and the bath it was stood on was large enough for a finger to fit in and there was no ‘seal’ material to prevent water escaping onto the floor ( I discovered after the shower ) - electric towel rail not working - very noisy dining area at breakfast because of a group breakfast event. It ruined our reasonable expectation of a pleasant breakfast time in a splendid location. (The breakfast itself was lovely.) We felt that we might have been advised the night before so we could have chosen a time that could have avoided the noisy crowd, assuming there was no other place in the large building for us to have breakfast.

We booked 2 nights as we were going to healey barn for a wedding (which was fab by the way) the room was super comfortable which all usual facilities provided including a dressing gown each although didn't use. Only had breakfast one of the days but was tasty. We had lots the first night which were outstanding.
This is np fault of the pub but a group of 20 LOUD farmer ripe fellas were booked in for breakfast so a nice quiet telaxing breakfast was out of the question. Another couple left quickly to return to their room for peace and quiet!!

Breakfast was excellent, we ate there in the evenings as well, which was also excellent, and just as well because there were no other eating establishments for quite a few miles. The room was a good size and comfortable. Staff were friendly and efficient. We enjoyed our stay. Lovely view across countryside.
The bathroom fittings were a little bit tired and outdated, although perfectly functional. Although the room was generally clean, one of the bedside light bulbs was really dusty, and inside the drawers could have done with a wipe round as well.

Stayed two nights and had a lovely time. Really liked the Inn, staff were very friendly, everywhere was very clean and our room was really cosy and had a wonderful view. The beds were very comfortable, plenty of pillows and cushions. Tea making facilities, bottled water, hair dryer, straighteners even, little bottles of shampoo and body wash, really fluffy towels and a toweling robe in the wardrobe. Food/menu was great, we didn't have to wait long for the meal to arrive, the portions were large and I couldn't eat it all and the chips weren't nice at all, but apart from that I would certainly return. The bar in the evening was really welcoming and dog friendly.
The chips.

Check-in was straightforward. We were taken to room, which was bigger than expected, and had both welcome tray & dressing gowns. Free wi-fi worked well; both in room & in bar/restaurant. Breakfast was so good, we booked for an evening meal too; which we also thoroughly enjoyed. Lovely quiet countryside location, but within easy reach of main routes: 1 mile to A68, and only 6 miles to A69. We definitely plan to return.
Would have preferred a walk in shower rather than shower over bath, as my husband is over 6ft tall, so headroom was tight. But not a major issue, that would stop us staying again; we just know to request that option!

Good location for a base to explore the North from. Rooms were a decent size, clean, good facilities and modern. Beds a good size and comfortable. Food was lovely, and all staff we encountered were friendly and accommodating.
Surface of the road at Entrance to car park is very uneven. For those who travel by motorbike, that is a hazard. We were a group of 4 bikers, car parks and car park surface is something we take into consideration.

Very comfortable bed. Large room with plenty of space. Was clean. Ideal location. Nice breakfast. Good value for money.
Stains on ceiling where water has obviously come in needs painting over. Very tiny sink in bathroom with no plug so difficult to use to wash in. Food in restaurant looked very nice but couldn't eat there as little or no vegan options which was a shame as my partner did like the look of the pies. Maybe a vegan pie option could be added.

Very nice pub with comfortable room. Evening meal was very good, and portions were large. Breakfast was served quickly and was exactly to our requirements. The need to log in our car for the car park was well signposted and staff reminded us when we checked in. Great views from our room, Dere Street.
Only one small point, the washbasin in the bathroom in Dere Street room was very small. Bathroom is big so would have thought a bigger washbasin could have been installed. Not an issue, just a comment.
