The staff were super friendly, and the setting is tranquil and sereen. The attention to detail was welcoming. For instance, I brought my Cocker Spaniel, and the hotel provides a soft dog mat, dog treats, and poo bags. Although the infrastructure is somewhat 'old', the facilities are all in good working order and kept spotlessly clean. The breakfast service was super! I invited 2 non-resident guests for breakfast, friends of mine, for a small (£15 pp) surcharge. There was a good choice of juices, cereals, fresh pastries, fruit, yoghurt, and jams & honey. The cooked breakfasts were super, and also cater for vegetarians. Tea and coffee galore. All brought to us by two extremely friendly and helpful ladies. Thank you so much for the most pleasant welcome and stay. When in the area, I will call in again.

A warm welcome at reception and shown main rooms of the hotel. My room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the parking area and river. It was described as an economy room but had a lovely comfortable big bed, a tv with streaming services and an en-suite with heated towel rail and powerful shower over the bath. Everything was really clean and fresh and I had a wonderfully relaxing stay, Breakfast was great with a good choice of cereals, pastries, fruits, yogurts, juices etc to start and a delicious cooked to order to follow. Staff were really friendly and helpful throughout my stay and housekeeping was totally reliable. A remote setting in the valley with sheep in the fields gave a very chilled setting,

An excellent choice for breakfast with helpful and pleasant staff who had a good sense of humor, I was asked if everything was OK with my breakfast and I said no it was missing something, after a short pause I said a birthday cake as it was my 60th I was there for, shortly afterwards three staff came to me singing happy birthday with a piece of cake and a candle on it.

I didn't like leaving personal item in the hotel room, a couple of days later when I realised I phoned the hotel up and they told me they have the items and agreed to send them to me, which I was grateful to receive back.

My 2nd stay and as peaceful and restful as my first. The hotel is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and has lots of walking opportunities literally on its doorstep. Everywhere is clean and nicely decorated with comfortable beds and good en-suite facilities. Breakfast is lovely with plenty of hot and cold choices. Staff are really friendly and helpful but unobtrusive so you can relax and enjoy your stay. I highly recommend this hotel if you want a peaceful place to relax.

Set in a beautiful and very peaceful location, the hotel has very helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent. Range of seating both outside and in comfortable lounges in the hotel.

Bathroom was small - and shower cubicle very small. Evening meal was standard 'pub classic' menu, but reasonable prices reflected this and I think low demand for 'dinner' means hotel don't really focus on it. I didn't mind, but hotel does not serve any alcohol - something they should perhaps make clearer to guests.

Charming hotel in an elegant Georgian building. Glorious surroundings (but may be chilly in winter at an altitude of over 1000ft). Asolutely peaceful. Lovely room with a beautiful view and a comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Kind and helpful staff. Very dog friendly too.

The bathroom was well fitted and with a bath, but very small, and there was only just room to sit on the loo! The owner (on personal principle)doesn't allow the sale of alcohol. Guests can bring their own, but this was not made clear to us beforehand, and needs to be. Zero alcohol wine is available, but it's not the same!

What a wonderfully secluded retreat. Coming down from the road, we were in awe of the beautiful surrounding landscape. We had a very friendly welcome and throughout our visit, staff could not have been more helpful. The location of the hotel is in fantastic countryside next to a small stream. All you hear on the grounds is the stream and the little lambs and sheep in the fields. A true country house.

Don’t be put off by the conditions you have to sign before acceptance of your booking. We were a bit sceptical about the rules and conditions but as it turned out our stay could not have been better. Please note that alcohol is not sold in the hotel. However, you can bring your own to accompany evening meal.

The road down to the hotel is a bit of a trial at the moment. But they do have it in hand. The hotel itself is an old building with lots of the old detail in evidence. The room we had(14) was big and comfortable. Staff were great. Breakfast was amazing. Definitely set you up for the day. Only negative I would mention is the need for a chair in the room. Would certainly recommend this hotel. 👌

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent with excellent service.

The television was not working well due to some technical internet issue. Could only get BBC when it did work. Would have liked access to all the freeview channels. Although it did not affect us it would have been nice to have had the offer of an evening meal but we realise that that cancellation of evening meals was due to kitchen staffing problems so we did sympathise .

The room was lovely and the bed comfortable. The shower was hot. The included breakfast was yum and dinner was delish. A cafe from 10am till 8pm offers good coffee and a nice choice of cakes. It is out of the town which we liked.

There was a bath with the shower over the top. This is a nice idea but a big step down for anyone with a bit of mobility limitations. We were in room 3 so the other rooms may be different.
