From the moment the place opened at 17:00 I felt welcomed. The operators and staff are obviously used to and appreciate tourists and locals alike. The staff were amazing especially Charlotte who was extremely professional throughout. The place is spotless. The range of beers, ales, ciders, wines, and whiskies is extensive for such a small place and the menu is excellent. The food was fresh and plentiful and tasted fantastic. Room was decent size, overlooked the intersection. It had a fan and a column heater in the wardrobe if cooling/heating was required. Toiletries, tea/coffee-making facilities in the room along with two bottles of drinking water and a couple of decent biscuits. Flat screen TV was also featured, along with a bedside clock. Water pressure was fantastic with a wall-mounted heating unit so the hot water from the shower is almost instant - the main power unit is operated by a pull switch inside the door on the ensuite, something many would not know but, as I live in Asia such things are commonplace. A hearty freshly cooked breakfast (sausage, egg, beans, bacon pudding, bacon, tomato, mushrooms) along with cereals toast, yogurts, milk, juices, coffee or tea, was included in the price and really makes the cost worthwhile.
Nothing, really. Although, if like me you're over six feet tall, pay for a queen bed. I chose the single to save a few pennies and it was too short.

From moment we arrived, warm welcome by all the staff and the locals. Showed us to our room and told us to come and join everyone down in the cosy bar. Asked did we want to book an evening meal and would we like to join in the quiz night. Excellent home cooked meal and a fantastic time at the quiz. Fantastic breakfast choices and freshly cooked, piping hot food. Excellent quality and service.
There's absolutely nothing not to complain about.

Very warm welcome and comfortable stay with a lovely homely feel. It was exceptionally clean and the best night's sleep we've had in a hotel for a long time - comfortable beds and quiet, with a fan provided in the room which kept us nice and cool. Drinks, biscuits and toiletries provided in the rooms and an excellent breakfast! Would definitely go again.
...only that we couldn't get there in time to have an evening meal as I'm sure it would have been very good!

After a long day on the trail the kind barman carried my bag upstairs. There was a table ready for tea and breakfast time was arranged whilst serving us the evening meal. Efficiency at its best. My Dad is a real ale drinker and this passed muster. He didn't have to get up once to get a refill. Although the dogs weren't allowed in the rooms overnight, they were welcomed in the bar in the evening and had water presented to them. They also had a pack of cards behind the bar. Breakfast was awesome, filled us up nicely for the next days walking. We wanted to stay another night but couldn't cancel our other accommodation without being charged. Would definitely stay again when we are in the area.
Nothing.

The friendly staff, the old school pub feel, the magnificent breakfast. The rooms are completely functional, spotlessly clean and with everything you need from soaps to coffee/tea making equipment. Great views from the pub and it's located in a very quiet place.
Only a subjective point, we're not fans of hard beds. But really, absolutely nothing, we would highly recommend the Belted Will.

This was perfectly situated to explore Hadrian's Wall, The Roman Army Museum, and Vindolanda. The staff were very hospitable, and the food was delicious (we ate dinner at the pub as well as breakfast the next morning). Parking was easy on the lane outside.
The room was very compact, and as a side sleeper the bed mattress was a bit too firm for me.

Alyson and Steve are excellent hosts. The Belted Will is an ideal base or stopping-off point for walkers, cyclists and pretty much any travellers passing through this area. There is a great community vibe to the pub, and the freshly-prepared meals are delicious too. I've stayed here several times and will continue to do so as I cannot praise the team here enough. Thanks all and look forward to seeing you next time

My parents stayed while visiting us in Hallbankgate and wanted to put on the following: We stayed here for 4 nights 12 - 16 July and it was perfect. Alyson, Stephen and their staff were friendly, efficient and more than helpful. An extra chair was requested for our room and it was provided within minutes. The room had everything necessary and was spotless. The food was excellent, superb breakfast choice. Dinner for 6 was served promptly and with a smile and some friendly chat. The steak pie has to have a special mention, fabulous melt in the mouth pastry, tender steak pieces and a great gravy. There was always a welcome when leaving of a morning and coming back in the evening, interest in how your day had been. The pub is a local and had a cheerful atmosphere each evening. The apple cider is well recommended. Old fashioned in a very homely way. Not the Ritz.... just better in every way that matters. Any minor negatives are inconsequential.
Nothing at all!

We stayed at The Belted Will Inn on the way up from London to Scotland and on the way back. Absolutely loved it - super friendly staff, the rooms were lovely plus clean and the bar/restaurant is excellent. Great meals in good portions at fair prices. Our family all enjoyed staying here and the surrounding area is very peaceful. Easy parking too. This will be our regular overnight stop driving up to Scotland!
Nothing!

The location is excellent and there are places to visit and things to do in all directions. Just off the A69 it is a quiet and convenient location with sufficient parking The hospitality is excellent. The owners very friendly and welcoming and everyone who served us was friendly too. The breakfast is good, with a good choice, and the evening menu varied with a good specials board.
There was nothing to dislike.
