I've stayed in many hotels with my dog and I'm used to getting "the dog room" you know the room at the back of the hotel, lucky to get carpet and always in need of redecorating, not a problem and I fully understand the reasons as to why they save these rooms for dogs. However!!!! The fox and pheasant was pure luxury, I booked in for 2 nights stay as a single room for me and the dog. The big was huge, 2 dog bowls, towel for the pup and a big dog bed!! The room standard was extremely high, very clean, lovely bathroom with a shower and a huge bath. The view was very picturesque, had a couple of meals in the pub downstairs, can't complain about the food, very tasty, you could tell it wasn't frozen and the turnaround time was very quick. Very relaxed atmosphere throughout, we'll definitely be returning. Extremely good value for money and we'll definitely be back!!!
Having to go home...

Great location in quiet village by the river. Clean and comfortable en suite rooms- bed was really comfortable with good quality bed linen and fluffy towels. Everything available that you would need including coffee/ tea machine with a variety of coffee pods and tea bags. Hairdryer and selection of shower gels and shampoos. Breakfast was wonderful. Well cooked and presented. Variety of cereals and juices. A special mention to all the staff all of whom were friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble.
The pub itself, although very clean and serving great food- it is a little dated and in need of refurbishment. Our room (5) although a lovely room and was very quiet- it did overlook the outdoor seating area where a pile of wooden pallets and rubbish had been dumped. It could do with a canopy of some sort to hide it from guests rooms. This area must have also been used for staff smoking breaks which again was a little off putting as smoke drifted into our open window. Not a complaint just an observation and to raise awareness as a suggestion for improvement.

Excellent meal served by friendly staff . Very pleasant visit all round soured somewhat by blank faced non engaging young woman on the bar when we settled up.Absolutely no attempt to engage politely or with any concern. Friend felt so annoyed he returned to advise her not to let customers see her dissatisfaction with whatever affected her mood .Restaurant staff excellent,as were the meals. Main area when busy is quite noisy for quiet conversation, an old building’s characteristic so no one’s fault!

Breakfast had a good variety on offer. Staff very friendly, attentive and informative of the area. Staff and chefs went above and beyond. Accommodated well for our little dogs with bowls and beds. Thoroughly relaxing break and planning when we can return. Made to feel very welcome from start to finish.
Just personal choice we would have liked brighter lights in the room and a normal kettle instead of the pod machine. But none of these comments affected our stay at all - very good experience.

This is a beautiful Inn, lovely location with a walk through the woods close by. Staff were all very polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean, tidy, and comfortable - they were happy to organise an earlier check-in on request. The room has the usual tea and coffee facilities, and they were happy to supply water for my room on request. They booked a table for my evening meal - lovely menu choices, and they cater for all dietary requirements. Portion sizes are plentiful, and food arrived piping hot. A good selection of breakfast options too. I was given keys to the front door if I was out later than closing time. Excellent and swift communication using the 'message the property' function. I highly recommend and would happily stay here again - thank you.

A great place to stay. I was travelling from London to Scotland, so a fantastic place to stop off. Food is really good. Room very comfortable with extra large bed. They kindly stayed open until i got there as i got delayed due to road closures. Very welcoming to myself and my dog. Great view of cow fields and a river, which is a great walk with my dog, or out the back into lovely woodland walks. They provided a small dog bed, bowls and even a dog towel. This place has really become my go to place when travelling between London and Scotland.

My husband and I, children and grandchildren all descended upon the Fox and Pheasant. 13 in total for meals. 9 plus 4 dogs staying. We were made so welcome by the lovely staff. The meals, which we were given the entire dining room to eat in, were fab. It was great for the children to be able to run around and play on the piano without us being stressed. The rooms were lovely and warm. Despite the awful weather we had a fantastic family time. Thank you so much.

The rooms are of good size with en suite. Although above the pub, it was quiet in the rooms and could not hear from downstairs. Great tea and coffee facilities and great location for a local wedding. Staff were ever so attentive - my partner fell ill whilst there and the staff couldn't do enough to ensure we were prepared for our long journey home. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choices and very accommodating. Would highly recommend.
There isn't anything we can comment on that we didn't like.

Excellent location and plenty parking. Welcoming and friendly staff. Bed very comfortable and room lighting very well arranged. Room very clean. Breakfast excellent. The staff obviously care about their business and work hard. In the evening, it was a thriving pub, downstairs- something you don't often see these days.
The weather! Dull and windy- but that's not the Fox and Pheasant's fault. I spent a bit of time finding the extractor fan for the shower- it was above the bathroom door!
