Owners and staff were very pleasant, we arrived earlier than expected, and they were closed at the time. However, one phone call and they came and assisted us straight away. Service was fantastic, and the room was very clean and tidy. The location was convenient for multiple excursions around Northumberland, and it's situated in a beautiful spot. Good selection of food and local beers and a really nice atmosphere in the bar in the evening. Enjoyed reading the facts about the castle's history and was happy with the experience. N.B. Just on pricing, the price we received included discounts, and this to me made it a fair price, without discount I would probably mark down the value for money.

Food was a bit pricey for what it was, I had the salmon and Teriyaki sauce with rice. Rice and salmon were a bit bland, and the rice was overcooked (over boiled?). At breakfast had to inquire about the extra sides we had ordered, and the sides came out short with the follow-up sadly. The black pudding was overcooked, which is a shame because the evening meal the black pudding in tempura batter was delicious! (would recommend) and my wife enjoyed her burger.

The room was stunning, breakfast was wonderful and a great selection of beers at the bar.

I would have given a 10 no problem as the olace is absolutely but the day of check out let it down a bit. We were running a little late and ended up leaving 30 mins over check out time. We heard a knock at the door (which was fine, because we were over time and this was our bad), but rather than waiting for us to open the door, someone opened it and shouted "check out time was 1030" and my partner was completely naked. Yes, we were late, but the staff member was very rude and we were very embarrassed. If that didn't happen, it would have been a 10.

Gorgeous food in the restaurant- had a call a few hours before arrival asking if we wanted to book a table which was much appreciated. Breakfast pancakes special was delicious, and never had such a lovely steak. Very quiet place. Nice to see the castle ruins.

Twin room on the ground floor with an accessible bathroom (but the room was too small for a wheelchair or anything like that and had steps to get in). The bathroom was not great, the shower was barely worth it, no way I could wash my hair in the drip of water it was not powerful in any way- yet the tap sink was so powerful and loud!

We chose this location as we were doing a trek along Hadrian's Wall for Marie Curie, so it was well placed. We arrived fairly late in the afternoon so decided to try out the restaurant for an evening meal. The staff were lovely and accommodating and the food was delicious! The bar had a nice friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately we had to leave prior to breakfast time, but the staff ensured we had the option to take a bacon sandwich away with us early and some extra snacks with water which we thought was a nice touch! The room itself was clean and cosy. The shower got very hot which was good. Overall this was a very pleasant stay thank you!

There wasn't much to explore in the immediate vicinity. But this was a nice quiet residential area.

The accommodation has various rooms. Ours was of a good size with simple decorations. The on-side restaurant is very convenient and good price/quality. The environment is quiet at night. Breakfast was very good.

To get to this accommodation on our bicycles, we had to use the A-road. Fortunately there is a little side-path that can be followed and on our way back, we noticed that there is even an underpass. Maybe this underpass is safe to use, but it is well hidden and maybe it is no longer in use. Would recommend looking better as crossing the A-road is not very nice.

A very good breakfast was included in out room rate. We ate in the restaurant on the evening of our arrival and the food and service was very good. The hotel doubles as a pub for the locals in the attached retirement complex and we got chatting with some of the locals who were a really friendly bunch. Staff in the hotel were very friendly and accommodating. Excellent location for visiting the local attractions of Hadrians Wall and Vindolanda.

No negatives really apart from the broken plug in the sink in the bathroom - this didn't cause any problems however.

Oh my… what a gem of a place. We had the fortune of arriving on quiz night, which had a super nice atmosphere! 🥰 The dinner we had was just perfect, so nice and a great beer! The room we stayed was so nice, looked amazing outside and in. Clean and comfy, well stocked. Then breakfast, no buffet, ordered high quality breakfast. Wow! We were sorry to leave, and will store this gem! 💎 dear reader of this review, thinking about staying here.. why haven’t you booked yet? Quickly quickly!!

Our stay was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The food was exceptional, full of flavour and beautifully presented, and our room was just as impressive, spacious, stylish, and incredibly comfortable. The bed was soooo comfy, we didn’t want to leave it! We were welcomed by a lovely young lady at check-in who couldn’t have done enough for us, friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. Gary was a highlight too, keeping us entertained with great conversation and sharing the fascinating history of the castle. A truly memorable experience, we’ll definitely be back!

First and foremost the warm welcome, the room was lovely, the staff member who showed us to room etc were very attentive. Next food, delicious and plentiful you will not be disappointed. This couple provide a fantastic service and so do their team.

I didn't really have any issues. A very small down mark on cleanliness, essentially there were some cob webs and spiders but hey it's winter, it's a castle and they were high up. the place it that cosy that if I were a spider I would try to stay there too. Remember Robert the Bruce they are also very motivational wee creatures so if at first you don't succeed try try again.

The staff were so friendly and really helpful. We enjoyed our evening meal the first night so much that we booked in again for the second night. The breakfast was also really good. Our room was bigger than expected and the beds were comfy.

The shower wasn't particularly powerful (as suggested in other reviews). The room was quite light and could have done with another bedside table. Wifi was poor.
