* All the staff were superb, friendly and helpful - the cool Bar Man, the receptionist/waitress, the lovely cleaning ladies, the handyman, the cook .... and the very kind Owner Man. * Very comfortable guest room and common areas * Great restaurant/bar meal offerings and drinks * Not the most polished, but the most authentic and the best welcoming, laid-back vibe * Well worth coming in off the Wall walk for * Altogether this hotel is the best one I stayed at on my 2 week Hadrian's Wall / Coast-to-coast walk across England
* Guest laundry facilities (pay-to-use), if they could be fitted in, would make this place perfect * Just a pity I couldn’t stay longer ... or permanently!

Everything !! The rooms were clean, a beautiful bathroom and an amazingly comfortable bed and hot drinks, biscuits and water were topped up each day. Staff were welcoming and friendly and made time to chat with us, even when they were busy, which was really nice. There was a great choice for breakfast and served with a smile and a friendly chat by a lovely Lady( im sure she said she was called Katherine) There was a great selection of meals available throughout the day & evening, beautifully cooked and presented. There are some amazing nature walks nearby and some fabulous treks if you want to explore further A natural place of beauty 💚✨ We would definitely return, thanks for a great weekend everyone

We had a wonderful stay at The Bowes Hotel. Everything was very cosy and friendly. Our room was comfortable, spacious, nicely decorated, had a private bathroom, and looked over the small town street. At the pub saloon, we had the opportunity to witness the town life, including folks playing billiards and a couple throwing darts. We don’t have a car, so Ian, the owner, graciously drove us twice to locations nearby that we wanted to visit, and even took us to an elevated look-out to see the whole of the Vindolanda Roman fort (one of the reasons why we went there) from above. We wouldn’t have found this spot otherwise. Catherine prepared our delicious buffet breakfast every morning, conversed with us, arranged for us to be taken places by Ian, and even took special food requests from us. All in all, we highly recommend The Bowes Hotel!!
There was nothing we didn't like, everything was superb!

Lovely small town location near best preserved sections of Hadrian’s Wall. Very scenic countryside in Cumbria. The staff were exceptional as was the breakfast. They accommodated our travel needs by opening the kitchen an hour early and called before we arrived to make sure the kitchen would stay open if we were planning dinner there. Nice little country pub downstairs with pool table. Good place to get acquainted with friendly local people and dogs. Thank you for a sweet stay.
Room was tight but exceptionally clean and the super nice staff and food make up for it.

First, the bed and pillows were maybe the softest, most comfortable I've ever experienced. Really. Next, the staff was amazing: friendly, congenial, informative, caring and responsive. Also, the bathroom and shower were first rate... best of our trip. The shower water always came out hot and strong! Also, the place was so very, very quiet. Lastly, the food served at the downstairs restaurant was really, truly good. We were so impressed with the Sauteed Mushrooms in Garlic Sauce on Chibatta... and the Sticky Toffee Pudding.
There's nothing we didn't like. This Place is a Rare JewlWe're touring Northern England, and this place is a jewel. No complaints at all, except we wish he could have been there more than two nights!

We loved Bardon Mill and The Bowes because we loved the pub/restaurant. Nikki was great (as were other staff), locals were friendly and swept us in to their celebration, then we enjoyed the snooker competition plus a quick shop at the excellent pottery store/workshop next door! Room was well appointed, clean and nicely decorated. Food was great (fish and chips and full breakfast). A classic country experience for us in a beautiful area close to Vindolanda and Hadrians Wall. The combined experience was a highlight of our 18 day trip.

The pottery room was very nice. I loved the open shower with large head. Also the room was big and roomy. I also loved the food on offer especially the Thai food. I had chicken and egg noodles one day and spicy wings. The staff throughout my stay were friendly and pleasant with outstanding service.
I think guests are missing out without cycle hire as an option. I believe this would be very popular with guests. Mountain bikes, city bikes and electric bikes should be on offer. I found a cycle hire company in Haltwhistle. Maybe a partnership could be formed.

Booked as half way r&r as we were walking a 30 mile section of Hadrian's wall and this was was just perfect, Very welcoming with extremely helpful and friendly staff. Our room was spotlessly clean, modern, spacious and extremely comfortable with all essentials provided (toiletries, hairdryer etc). The food was restaurant quality which we ate in front of their open fire in an all round lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Nothing I can fault.

The room was beautiful, comfortable and warm. The staff were very caring and welcoming. We had dinner and breakfast, the home made pie was delicious and the breakfast was legendary. There was a Halloween party with a live singer, we had our meal and then sang along to the fabulous singer, what a bonus. We intend to return and further explore the region.
It was fantastic, couldn't fault it. They stored my partner's bike overnight and there was even an EV charger outside the front door.

The property was excellent, fresh and modern, very clean and well maintained. Really comfortable . Great location. Within good distance to the local places of interest. Definitely good value for money. The food was delicious. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. The young lady working there was clearly very busy during our stay yet she never failed to smile and show willingness to help/assist everyone she spoke to. Nothing was too much trouble
