This hotel using the British vernacular is pub with accommodation and formal dining area but no car park area. It is centrally located in the town. Breakfast was very good. The room was good and the bed was comfortable and firm. Another place where the stairs were "interesting" to negotiate with medium size luggage. We have a first floor bedroom overlooking a quiet main street of the town.
Car park situation was confusing. You have park illegally to drop off luggage and then park the car 300 meters away in the all night car park section of the general car park for the township. While it was raining.

The staff were great. Both the lady who checked us in on the Saturday and the lady who serviced breakfast and checked us out. We were upgraded to king size room, which was large and clean, with a huge bathroom. I like most hotels, the water pressure of the shower and as brilliant, and the water hot. There’s no parking at the hotel, but Hexham isn’t big and we were directed to a car park just around the corner.
The pillows! There were plenty of them but they were all super plump. I prefer a flatter pillow. I could have asked if they had one, but I was happy to just sleep without one at all.

We were greeted by the manager, who advised me where to park. He then took our heavy bags to the room. My wife spotted her favourite lager at the bar. He offered to take it to the room together with a pint of my favourite real ale that was on sale. That was so welcoming after a long days motoring. The room was spacious and clean and even had a doggie pack of biscuits and a blanket for our pooch. The evening meal was superb with lots of choices on the menu to suit all tastes. The staff were clearly motivated, friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay at the County and would have no hesitation re booking in the future.
There isn't any parking. However, the manager will advise the best places nearby upon arrival. Just park in the side street when unloading bags etc. I am not a fan of canned music whilst sitting in a bar or eating. This establishment like nearly every other these days feels its necessary to create an 'atmosphere'. It wasn't loud, but it was difficult to find a table that didn't have a speaker overhead. I am sure most people don't mind or take any notice, but for me I find it unnecessary and a distraction for real atmosphere which consists of conversation.

Pleasantly surprised at how clean and tidy the hotel was. Prompt service when booking and shown to our room. The room was not very roomy but it was fine for a couple of nights. The bathroom was excellent, very clean and well maintained. The shower was not sophisticated but gave plenty of water and at good temperature. Their was a well stocked hospitality tray. We chose to eat with friends in the restaurant on both nights. The food selection was good and we were not hassled; the food was good and enjoyable. The morning breakfast was a little slow in appearing but it was freshly cooked.
Not much! The double bed had a wooden frame which was a bit uncomfortable when sitting on the side of the bed (no big deal, really), my wife would've liked a proper hanging wardrobe, but really we're looking for faults that were nothing to worry about.

our upgrade to a different hotel was very nice
I booked a family room specifically so that my friend and I wouldn't be sharing a bed, since we are not partners. On arrival, we were informed that our room had been given to someone else (and not only that, but a person travelling alone!). We were asked if we would mind sharing a double bed for one night only. Tbh this would not have been asked of 2 men travelling together, so we found it a bit sexist. We refused and then were found a twin room in Slaley hall just outside Hexham. To be fair, the manager offered the room without any charge whatsoever, which we didn't feel was very fair. So we contributed something.

Lovely clean hotel, nice welcome, everything explained by manager and cases taken up to our room for us. Great location. Beautiful tasty breakfast. Good service at the bar.
We booked a family room, which turned out was room 7. It was above the kitchen , this meant you could hear a humming noise from 7am in the morning until they were switched the ovens/generators off at 9pm at night. Didn't really affect us as we wake up early anyhow. Plus bin lorries taking rubbish away about 7am behind our room. I can understand this would be annoying to anyone who wanted a lie in !

How dog friendly it was. The pooch was treated to a nice morning breakfast and treats during stay. Blanket and towels in room. Staff are so accommodating. Nice guest lounge with seperate entrance for guests. Spacious rooms. Lots of nice touches. Bubbles and chocs in room for wife's birthday. Food was on point. Very quiet consider your above a pub on the main road so no disturbances. Great hotel and very nice decor. Fantastic menu and all staff were lovely and helpful. Would definitely come back again. 10/10
Very minor things. Room 4 towel radiator very close to w/c so if you sat down and it's on, be sure to turn heat off as you may find you burning your leg. Which I did. Bathroom door very narrow, which wouldn't fully open due to inside wall preventing it. Strange door inside bathroom leading to outside corridor but we were reassured nobody could open it and get in. Bed mattress was a little on the firm/hard, but that's just a personal preference as I'm used to a silent night mattress at home.

The staff at this hotel have gone above and beyond and I genuinely cannot thank them enough. We came for a wedding and halfway through our journey we had a blown tyre which meant we wouldn’t be arriving until the early hours of the morning. Fiona stayed in touch with me and assured me that i’d be allowed to check in whenever we arrived and just to stay safe. We arrived at 3:40am and were greeted with such warmth you would have thought it was mid day! I really can’t thank them enough. The room we stayed in was beautiful and they are severely underpricing themselves! I hope to be back for a longer stay!!

We stayed here on the first night of our Nothumberland 250 road trip. The hotel is centrally located in Hexham and close to everything you could need. The hotel staff were very friendly when he checked in and a lovely gentleman showed us to our room. We were greeted with a towel, blanket and a full bag of dog treats all wrapped up which we thought was an amazing touch for our dog who we had with us. We had drinks in the bar after we settled in and there was a designated area for residents which was nice and cosy. The breakfast in the morning was amazing and our dog was given his own bowl of scrambled egg and sausages for him to enjoy, which he did very much! The staff were so attentive and couldn't do enough to help. If you're ever in the area looking for somewhere to stay then definitely stay here, it was perfect.

We stayed here again on the second to last night of our Northumberland 250 road trip. We were given a deluxe room to stay in which included bathrobes, slippers, and a basket of extras including face masks, body lotion etc. We had our dog with us, who again who was made to feel so welcome. There was a towel, blanket, full bag of Bakers dog treats all wrapped up in a bow for the dog along with an information leaflet which included numbers for vets in the area. We had a meal in the restaurant and the food was beautiful, with staff so friendly and helpful. We took our dog into the restaurant and he was given a bowl of water and some treats whilst we were waiting for our food. The breakfast was lovely and very filling, with the dog given his own scrambled egg and sausages to enjoy which he loved! If you're looking for somewhere to stay in or around the Hexham area, then don't hesitate to book here.
Nothing, everything was perfect. The only thing I would say is that there aren't any plug sockets near the bedside, however, there is an extension lead provided in the wardrobe which solved the problem.
