Beautiful quiet inn, short distance from the A1 and Newcastle. Outstanding in every aspect, staff, room, cleanliness, restaurant food. The fillet steak with a bottle of Merlot was simply perfect after a long drive down from the Highlands. I can also recommend the Dukes full English breakfast, delicious!

I cannot suggest anything that could be improved, 10/10.

This is pretty faultless. The welcome was warm and sincere and the staff throughout the stay were helpful, attentive and genuine. Top marks there. The rooms upstairs are superbly kitted out (real coffee and a cafetiere is always going to be a win), the bed was comfortable and the bathroom facilites excellent. The views over the valley are pretty special too. Downstairs things are just as good. Someone in the kitchen really knows their business, the food was universally good and from an exceptionally well-thought out and ecletic menu.

There wasn't a proper bitter on draft then night we stayed (a barrel thing I suspect), but there was the next morning. But hey, some you win and some you lose... Til next time...

I shared a double room with a buddy of mine as we were wrapping up our hike of Hadrian's Wall. The Inn was beautiful. We had a good view from the room of some lovely fields (with a better view of them from the patio outside of the restaurant). The food in the restaurant was quite tasty, with quite a variety on the menu for reasonable prices. The beds were very comfortable. We were there just overnight, so if there were other amenities, we didn't get a chance to experience them - more's the pity.

This is a lovely place. Staff were friendly and helpful on arrival, taking my luggage to my room and explaining the key system etc. My room was really spacious, warm and spotless - same with the en-suite. I had dinner in the restaurant and the portion of fish and chips was huge, tasty and fresh. Breakfast was equally delicious and freshly prepared. This visit was only a stopover en route to elsewhere but I will make a point of returning to explore the area and will definitely stay here again.

The hotel was well located just off the A69 and within easy reach of the wedding venue we were attending at Vallum Farm. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast menu was very good with plenty of choice. Evening menu again was good value with plenty of choice.

It did not feel like a traditional pub as the bar area was set up for food service. Selection of draught beer could have been better but I understand its difficult to keep a large selection of beers in good condition.

The staff were super friendly. A lovely location with superb views. We had one evening meal whilst there. The food was very good and a great menu choice. Served by Anna who was exceptional. Good breakfasts and plenty of choice. Great parking. Nice room, well appointed and lovely welcoming hospitality tray which was replenished daily. Good bed linen and comfortable bed. NB extra large bed in the room description = king size and not super king

Room we were in (Coquet) was a bit too hot and only able to regulate by opening the windows as thermostat wasn’t working. Good bathroom but poor lighting, the integral light on mirror did not work. Minor detail but made shaving/ applying make up difficult. A little surprised to have to pay for one cappuccino for our last days breakfast after spending four nights there if I was being super picky but wouldn’t put us off staying again.

Customer service by all staff far surpassed what you can expect to receive in other places. Loved the heated floor in the bathroom, bed was really really comfortable, the biscuits and drinks in the room again were a high quality. Breakfast was fantastic. Enjoyed every part of our stay and it's a shame we weren't there for longer. We also appreciated the fact that being at a wedding from 12 noon to 12 midnight meant we missed our check in time, but the room was ready early and we were given the key and shown how to access a good 4 hours before the check in time which really helped us out.

Bathroom might benefit from Sanitary disposal bags, but has everything else.

Staff were friendly and provided excellent service. Great location over looking the Tyne Valley and spacious parking. We stayed for two nights in September. We ate in the restaurant the first evening and the food was reasonably priced and excellent.

We asked for a twin room which was situated in the eves of the property, although this was clean and sufficient the room was above the kitchen area and the kitchen ventilation was noisy and started at around 7am and finished at 10.30pm. Although this didn't affect our stay, it may not be suitable for everyone.

Great location conveniently close to a wedding venue but also to beautiful countryside. Friendly and helpful staff and a very comfortable and well equipped room with super cosy underfloor heating. Breakfast (full Northumbrian and eggs benedict) was delicious

I was very happy with every aspect
