We had a lovely time and enjoyed a high quality dinner. Staff were very friendly and a relaxed atmosphere all round. Breakfast was served quickly and check out was easy. Overall a very nice time had and will happily go back and recommend.
I dont like adding negative comments when most was very positive but to say something I would comment on that we found the room to be a little dusty and there were stains on the toilet lid and sink in our Premium room. I also found the breakfast sausage too small (But tasted great) and the bacon too thick as it was quite hard due to sitting under a heat lamp I would think. Small things that didnt retract from the overall stay.

The food was excellent, value for money with good quality ingredients. The breakfast was first class with lots to choose from and they cater for all needs. This is my second time staying here for work as the commute into Carlisle is perfect, roughly 10 - 15 minutes away from where I need to be and a nice drive in. I would rather stay here than any of the chain hotels in Carlisle as you get more of a personal service. I was even given a nice cold bottle of water to take up to bed with me. Its the little things that go a long way. The rooms are all on par with each other so you won't be disappointed with what you get.
That I couldn't stay for longer!

Ample free parking, exceptionally clean with friendly, helpful staff! Lovely characteristic coach house. Nice outdoor seating, beautifully and tastefully decorated inside. Very good value with an amazing breakfast included. We booked an evening meal for our stay and the food was fantastic. The bar can get quite busy with locals (we stayed on a Friday night so perhaps that was the reason). I would recommend booking evening meal in advance as I imagine it gets booked up quickly, especially at the weekends. The room was lovely and clean and the bed was so comfortable. Plenty of tea/coffee/biscuits in the room.
We only booked for one night!!

The place is full of character and history. It has its own story to tell. It is spotlessly clean and welcoming. Our room was really sophisticated , yet very comfortable at the same time. It’s very much a country pub- the local shooting party were just meeting back up from their day and looked very smart! The location was great as we were on our way up to Scotland and within a reasonable distance from the motorway. Food in the evening was great and the breakfast was excellent. Staff were really friendly.

This is a beautiful property with so much character! We loved the log burning fires, traditional decor and our beautiful room! The food was superb and service was excellent. The restaurant area is lovely and my son was thrilled with the pool table in the lounge area! Our room was quite cool in the evening as the radiator thermostat had been turned down prior to us staying but the owner very quickly sorted a fan heater for us which soon warmed the room up. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!
The sofa beds in the room were not comfortable. They look lovely but there’s no mattress so they weren’t nice to sleep on.

The property is an old coaching inn set in the countryside in a small village. It was central to all of the places we planned to visit. The hotel was quirky with low ceilings and wonky floors, which just added to its charm. The rooms were lovely and clean. We had a view out across the fields. The food was delicious with great choice for dinner and breakfast. The staff were welcoming and friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them several times
There was nothing we didn’t like or enjoy about the property

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Cleanliness of room. Comfortable beds. Nice bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. Excellent supply of clean towels. Superb breakfast. Character and charm of building. Spacious carpark. Idyllic and peaceful location. Reasonable prices and excellent value for money.
Small cramped room. However, it is recognised that this is due to the historic nature of the building. It was simly a minor inconvenience which, for a one night stay, did not affect the enjoyment of our experience.

This place is as reviews mention a Gem. Please don't be put off that it's off the beaten track you will not be disappointed. Arrived and greeted by Sam who invited us in checked us in and gave us information needed for our stay. We booked dinner so went to room to freshen up. The food was outstanding the atmosphere was nice with plenty of places to sit. I don't like crowds so found a nice sofa by the fire place providing space and quietness as there was entertainment on however not too loud but I we choose to sit away. The Ambience is lovely. Our room was lovely clean a good size we were very impressed. Had travelled south up heading home and had stayed in several places this one out did all the others I'm afraid so I cannot recommend enough your be very impressed. We had breakfast lots of choice helping ourself to tea coffee and juices and cereal. All staff spoke to us we felt comfortable on our one night stay. We will definitely stay again Thankyou to all staff.

Large room, tasteful decor, everything you need in the room for an overnight stop. Bathroom positively luxurious! Had a bath and a separate shower unit. Breakfast was high standard with great choice and dinner at the pub was good. Lovely, historic pub with a cosy welcoming feel. Lovely young woman on Reception and assisting generally around the inn. Lovely welcoming smile throughout my stay. She's definitely an asset to the owners being helpful and professional, without being intrusive.
Nothing I can think of.
