All staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. My husband had a fall in the room, and I had to go to reception to get someone to help. They helped straight away and lifted my husband. He had a bleed to his head and the duty manager noticed later that it was still bleeding and put some plasters on. She also checked in the morning to see he was alright. She was extremely helpful as were all the staff. I don't know why there was not a phone in the room as I had some distance to get to reception. The breakfasts were also excellent, and they were served in the main hotel.
There was no restaurant in the hotel for evening meals, and the only place to eat was a pub on the grounds called Linden Tree Pub. The first night's meal was okay but not very nice and the second nights was just awful even though it was just fish and chips, both chips and fish were soggy, and the tartare sauce and mushy peas were served in horrible rusty looking containers. Again, the duty manager helped and reduced our bill. I would not recommend that pub to anyone. When we go away, we always look forward to a nice dinner but unless the restaurant opens up again in that hotel we will not be back as it is too far to go anywhere else around it. I just don't understand a McDonald's hotel not having a proper restaurant.

Beautiful setting, lovely grounds. The inside of the hotel was impressive. Spa facilities were excellent.
At check in we were greeted by an aggressive receptionist, there had been a mix up with the bookings, not the hotels fault but the way it was handled was disgraceful . She was obviously aware before we arrived and was waiting for us in a very unpleasant manner. The manager and booking.com did resolve it. However it did not need to handled that way. Every member of staff were polite and pleasant. It made me feel uncomfortable every time I had to walk through reception as her shift seemed never ending.

Our stay felt like a little bit of luxury. On a busy holiday, we stayed three nights here and decided to have one day here just enjoying the hotel. We had a walk, a swim and enjoyed a massage in the spa. We decided to upgrade our room before check in and had the most lovely corner room with views of the gardens and golf course. We had breakfast one morning which we couldn’t fault. The Linden Tree Pub served wonderful food. The hotel staff were excellent - friendly and helpful.
Hard to think of anything!

Excellent location, very quiet and peaceful. The staff were really on it with service and very polite and helpful. The spa facilities were good and staff were very kind. Room was good and larger than expected, beds very comfy and all clean. A hot Breakfast was made to order as well as continental - the black pudding was special! The on-site pub food was also very good for dinner and drinks with some different options to just standard pub grub!
The pool area was a little worn but the pool itself was perfectly fine and the hot tub as well as steam and sauna.

Spa facilities were good. The room was spacious with a lovely view. The staff were very helpful.
The general fabric of the building is in need of repair. In the bathroom, the bath panel didn't fit properly, there was mould on the bath sealant and on the tile grouting. The carpet in the room had a hole in it (someone had burnt it with an iron?). The portion sizes of both the breakfast and the evening meal were smaller than I would have liked given the prices being charged. I think it was an attempt at being "chefy" when the kitchen is far from being Michelin starred. The food that I did get was tasty. I would have been disappointed had I paid full price for this room but I actually got a good deal on it which meant that I could overlook the negatives.

Staff were amazing, very helpful and friendly. I asked for an accessible room. Intending to have a room which was easy to go in and out with the dog. ( ie late night toilet trips) instead we ended up in an accessible room with lots of equipment to make daily living activities easier. This wasn’t really an issue just a bit stressful trying to keep a toddler from pulling the red emergency cords and obviously embarrassing when he pressed the panic button. Amazing professionalism from the staff when they came to reset it and clearly an oversight on my part when booking. We would definitely come back. Maybe as a treat to appreciate the luxury of the place and leave the toddler and the dog at home.

Check in very pleasant. Linden Tree restaurant good staff. Room was very comfortable.
Thinness slice of black pudding we have ever been serviced on first morning. Exacerbated by only get half a black pudding on second morning . Very dissappointing. Threadbare Carpet on main stair. Some redecoration required in bedroom. Signs of rising damp in basement. Building looks tired

The hotel room and the grounds The room was very peaceful and extremely clean Very spacious with nice relaxing chairs We ran out of milk and a very nice housekeeper did go get us some fresh milk without any problem and should we require any more just to go to the restaurant The bed was very large and comfortable and was the pillows Great shampoo and bath gel too
It wasn't that we didn't like it but was a little disappointed with the menu at the linden Tree pub The Dobson restaurant served breakfast, which was nice ,plenty of choice from the continental buffet, and then cooked breakfast It would be really good and would fit in with the luxury of the hotel if this restaurant changed to fine dining or good cooked food

Spa great, staff were really friendly. My partner had an injured arm and the team couldn’t have been more accommodating of this when swimming etc. Comfy room and good facilities, bathroom was a little dated but perfectly functional. Only issue was the room service breakfast, £50+ for 2 mediocre breakfasts felt very steep, even if delivered to the room. Food was okay but no better than a chain hotel, yet almost double the price. Overall really nice, could do with a lick of paint and a refresh on breakfast options

Beautiful grounds, nice bedrooms, staff was friendly and helpful. Pool was nice although changing rooms could do with updating.
The big thing that let it down for us was the Linden Tree pub. Staff weren’t exactly friendly. Food and Drink massively over priced!!! Was over charged then asked for money back and staff weren’t happy about this is be aware of your receipts before leaving. Such a shame because this was the only thing that let it down in our eyes. I also heard another family complaining. I don’t mind paying for nice food and good service but unfortunately you get neither here.
